  • This is not my Texas! Why is this kind of dangerous fool in charge of my state, when the people I know are not like this, and are ashamed to have him represent us?!

  • I could really make the same argument he's making about Evolution to teaching kids about Theology.

I can now say with pride that this is indoctrinating children into a political agenda.

  • Those fucking experts, always waving their fancy facts around. Bastards.

  • What the F is he ranting about. We are lucky to have any fossils at all. There is no evidence for creation none at all zero nodda.

  • Thank goodness that dense, ignorant, Nascar f**ing, Reagan blowing, butt-licking red-neck deep-south ultraconservative McCarthyte white trash bull's walt is now voted out of office without causing any permanent harm.

  • sad...

  • Back to the coyote and roadrunner... More intelligent!

  • Stupid doctors telling me I have to go through cancer treatment or ill be dead in a year. Like I care about an opinion from an expert! I'll show them

  • he makes me glad i'm not american.

  • Yeah fuck the experts! Let's send in untrained disabled kids into war, not expertly trained military!

  • @9hello123

    they m-m-m-m-must be crips....

  • The experts say I will be severely injured if I jump off my roof. How do they know have they jumped off my roof? Have they? The truth is they do not know. I'll show those experts.

  • this guy is probably the reason Texas probably won't have any PhD candidates at MIT.

  • Hey Mexico, you can have Texas back :)

  • "Theology: The field of study and analysis of make believe; for the purpose of spinning reality to conform to the human imagination so the control of others can be achieved".

    -Scott Tebben

  • What right does a man who has never picked up a piece of wood have to question the workmanship of a master carpenter?

So why does this man think he has the understanding of the subject to be able to call into question the workmanship of a master scientist?

  • If he even brings up things like the scientists being "wonderful people", you know that he's not really concerned about the science, but rather has an authoritarian viewpoint. (I _do_ think that the long periods of non-change (punctuated equilibrium) are interesting, but the matter should be looked into by biologists, not legislators. Those who have a messed up science education (i.e. with Intelligent Design) will stand less of a chance to investigate punctuated equilibrium.)

  • This is what happens when you consume to much jebuzz juice.

  • fucking texan creatard moron, jesus!!!

    Only in America :-(

  • Dear America,

You were so great. What happened? You are no longer the big brother we all look up to. You have become the old senile curmudgeon pounding his fist on the supper table about the good old days.

    Sincerely,

The Rest of the Developed World

  • This guy does not understand the theory of evolution. He has not thought it through.

  • Jeez....This Dude is Retro Dark Ages.....Next thing you know...he will be advocating women being burned at the stake for being witches...

  • Dear Texas

    lol lol lol

    god

PS Is this the same country that put a man on the moon?

  • Impassioned pleas have no place in science, they merely show you have no evidence to speak for itself.

  • Goodbye America. We will start putting together the food rations and clothes to be shipped to you.

  • Somebody take this fuckwits chair away from him!

  • I've noticed that in America, they dislike intelligent people. It starts in school with smarter people tending to be marginalized. It continues in adulthood when we call people who went to top notch universities elitist. They don't trust experts have study a subject for 20+ years, and obtained doctorates as well as honors in their field of study. This type of thinking will be the downfall of not only the education system, but America in general.

  • @jol223334 Have you listened to our news, and more specifically the right wing news like Fox.

Intellectual is a bad word now, academic is a bad word. The educated elite, all liberal bad people.

Personally, I'm both educated, and a slightly right wing thinker. And the Republican has become an embarrassment. And attacking those in society who happen to have a couple letters after their name doesn't fair to well with any rational thinking person.

  • Gee I wonder what his agenda is / end sarcasm

  • hahahaha what a moron lol

  • ....Wow, what a brainwashed monkey.

  • This guy made no sense at all.

  • Yet, looking at this man, one has to wonder why he is able to think and breathe by himself? Why do seemingly normal people elect people like Don McLeroy to positions of the public trust? This is what is wrong with religious tests, plain and unabashed ID10T disease is the result, which will never be overcome. For the sake of our children and our future, please never again elect someone like this to positions of public trust. We cannot in this society stand for this kind of total stupidity.

  • Wow.. I hope he's stepped down by now.

  • This man just plain stupid. Actually, let me rephrase. This man is monumentally stupid.

  • I laugh when the ignorant say silly thing but don't have any authority to impose it.. I tremble when they do...

  • It always makes me laugh when the ignorant talk about something they obviously know nothing about.

  • @jebus6kryst

that's fortunate for u..it makes me sick.

  • I don't know... Should I thumbs up the video for exposing this rube in a seat of power or do I thumbs down it because I strongly disagree with his argument?

  • This guys is a chairman of a board (of education)? He's a fucking idiot.

  • Them pesky scientists and their facts and evidence. ROFLMFAO.

  • "Someone has to stand up to experts!"

Yeah, what do they know? Us regular folks understand science a lot better than scientists.

  • I'm confused on what to do! Do I give thumbs up to the video for showing me the extent of stupidity this man is capable of... or thumbs down for the aforementioned!

  • I don't think this guy conveyed any coherent ideas. Who taught him how to stand at a podium? Who dressed him?

  • yes, aliens dropped a variety of animals in stasis fields so they could 'suddenly appear' over time. er that IS what this guy is suggesting isnt it ?

pardon me but my toilet is clogged again , I would call a plumber but he would be an expert , and what do they know ? I wish my lights worked ;( bye now

  • I laughed

  • Moron!

  • Tide comes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication.

  • "We need to be honest with our kids"? Hypocrite.

  • @Pezzab5

I was just about to write that when I saw your comment.

  • Anywhere else but texas -this guy would be out in the street with a carboard sign -selling pencils from a cup.

  • Living in a dream world. I tell you what though, you can laugh at the things he says, does and probably thinks - but you have to hand it to the man, he is sitting on a *very* nice chair.

  • I say that it is not proven that brushing your teeth make your oral health better... I have scientific proof to prove it... Even after fluoride in water, and all the brushing, flossing, and mouth washing, dentists like Don McLeroy still treat people for cavities....

And I should be considered an authority in oral health for the simple fact that I am NOT a dentist and I am standing up to the experts.

  • Yes LETS be Honest with our kids, God Grants Wishes and eternal life, the earth is only 5,000 years old, drinking on sunday will send you striaght to hell, Oh yeah and harry potter is BLASPHEMY.

  • The fact that this person has any authority other than pumping gas is frankly scary.

  • ...fuck

  • Even without any fossils, evolution would still be supported with overwhelming evidence, e.g molecular genetics.

In any case, creationists will always find "problems" with the fossil record - the point that they deliberately fail to make known is that there is, and continues to be, so much positive proof of evolution from the fossil records.

If there was a devil then creationists would be its slaves because they spread lies and deceit for their own gain instead of for the benefit of human kind.

  • Comment removed

  • Ha Ha, he's a dentist. Good thing he's qualified to stand up to these highfalutin experts. How dare they know stuff! :-)

  • There's an extra special, roasty-toasty spot in fundamentalist Christian Hell for people who quotemine SJ Gould.

  • he is absolutely right! Someone has to stand up to those damn experts! Next time i go see a doctor i will give him a shot! When my car breaks down i will tell my mechanic to screww off it's not because i used kitchen oil and rubbing alcohol to make my fuel! That way i tell off the people who make unleaded gasoline possible!! *shakes fist in air* damn you science!!!

  • Don McLeroy is a complete IDiot.

  • @Doomcharger Couldn't agree more. Sigh.

  • is he really saying that because 150-1800 years of stasis disproves evolution??? Does he not understand that evolution takes much longer than that to really show how it's working?? I thought that was also part of the sceince... Creationists will stoop to any level to get a foothold, but this seems rather far fetched.

  • was that man really voted into power?

where are the thinking people of texas, why are they putting up with such ludicras ideas? this nonsense absolutely beggers belief.

  • Evolution has problems? Of course it does, because when every animal from the beginning of life on earth don't all go to the same place to die and lay themselves in chronological order it makes it really difficult to find them, the inconsiderate little bastards. I bet this prick doesn't advise that people stand up to the "experts" that say there is a big invisible being in the sky that controls every aspect of existence, no I bet we are supposed to take that on faith alone.

    What a wanker!.

  • Dear Texas,

    I'm sorry.

    Yours Truly,

    God

  • How can this happen.......? why does evolution represent such a problem in The U.S ? Everyone with a bit of understanding and simple highschool 101 biology knows that Evolution is a fact, yet still in this day and age, you will let yourself be guided by an i-diot.

It is really sad, that the USA face the same dogmas at home, when they so feverishly try to eradicate them elsewhere in the world.

  • @ueks69 Yes, but America's biology 101 (and science education in general) has been horribly eroded by the efforts of people like this over the last couple of generations. There was a time when over half of college graduates in this country were scientists and engineers... now that number, if I recall, is something like 10%, and the majority don't even stay in the country.

  • @jumpmonkey03 My problem with this is, they belive i dont, but we still have to give them special rights, so they can pratice thier religius magical mumbo jumbo-

  • Only. In. Texas.

  • Oh yeah, "Magic man in the sky did it," is so much easier than feild research and laboratory experiment!

  • This guy and his ilk are really dangerous to the future of America. I hope common sense prevails, but with people like this being voted into positions of power, it's looking worrying.

  • Yes, lets be honest with our kids and tell them that a dumb ass has been elected to the Board of Education with the stated purpose of denying you an education.

  • Ugh - he's one of those guys that looks at 2 fossils and sees a gap between them, then when you find a fossil that fits the gap he just declares "look, now theres TWO gaps!" right? *facepalm*

  • Stand up to them experts! Stop using experts in geology to refer to geology! We must fight to allow the not-so-expert in the field (e.g. average Joe) to make the curriculum!

I'm getting really dissappointed, a fine country being dragged by the deadweights of ignorance :S

  • "someone needs to stand up to the experts"

as anyone ever herped so much they derped? cuz this guy just did

  • @kuroyama1 fucking lol'd

  • "It, it is so scientific." Wow.

This man is dangerous to the state of texas.

And doesn't he look and sound a lot like nephilimfree?

  • Only in America...fucking idiots.

  • hahahha funnier than college humor

  • "Somebody's gotta stand up to the experts!" BAAAAHAHAHA!! Ah, your mind on religion.

  • What a moron.

  • No scientific theory is without its weaknesses.

Fossils are currently the weakest evidence for evolution. Quantum mechanics and molecular genetics are far stronger forms of evidence for evolutionary theory.

"Science is not a democracy; truth doesn't bend to numbers of believers."

  • So… basically what he means is to stand up to experts you disagree with and support yourself while doing so with the experts you do agree with

  • McLeroy is a dentist. Why the fuck is he on the board of education.

  • What a retard

  • Oh clearly PBS is the be all and end all of scientific evidence. If PBS says it, clearly it must be true.

  • "Yeah! Someone has to stand up to it! What do experts know?!"

"Uh... a lot. That's why we call them experts."

  • Ignorance is on the march in this country.

  • umm.... perforated equilibrium....?

some alleles drift slowly, and others might just so happen to go through a dramatic shift.... so?

that's not serious challenge to the idea of common ancestry. Finding a crocoduck would be.

  • did he just say Evorlution?

  • Thank goodness he's gone from the board after this election season. Moron needs to shut the hell up, considering he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • Studdering moron who doesn´t know what he´s talking about or even how he wants to blurt out his nonsense.

  • Christian stupidity of America...

Shame on America for how ignorant people are.

  • He got voted the hell out.

  • @meanjean29 Did he? I'm in UK and we have to search to get Texas news. Do you have a link?

  • Typical Christian stupidity. It's people like him who's ruining America.

  • FIGHT THE FACTS

  • lmaoo "it's been 150 years since the origin of species"

  • Why are the experts doing it? Because they know what they're talking about and you don't, you uneducated dumbass!

...If you don't have the maths, how can you read the chart right, idiot?

There are no problems with the fossil record... retard! (running out of terms to describe this man)

Who gave that moron a Chair on the schoolboard?

  • Please... I know there are guns in Texas... somebody shoot this dumbfuck.

    He hasn't a fucking clue

  • Thank you, Mr McLeroy for making the US fail at science and helping us over here in Europe to take the lead!

  • @singring76

    That was a golden comment.

Go go go Mr McLeroy! We germans would love to take over in scientific fields. Albeit we do in some already like renewable energy. :)

  • @singring76 ... Actually, I believe China is next in line...

  • Heh, it's like he's getting so flustered that he can't remember what to mindlessly parrot.

  • Lmao, the stupid arsehole things that stasis in the fossil record presents a challenge to common descent! Fail.

  • He represents the supreme example of willful ignorance.

  • Moron fucking dolt !

Is this asshole still in office ?

  • Whew. It doesn't take mathematics to make a coherent statement.

  • "Someone has to stand up to experts!"

Yeah, damn you Newton and Einstein. Gravity doesn't exist! Someone please stand up against reason!

  • @byteresistor Don't forget, it's only the Theory of Gravity. If you want some really mind-bending stupidity, go to Conservapedia, and look up Theory of Relativity where some conservatard argues that Einstein's theory is inherently liberal. I love that! The speed of light, time dilation, distance fore-shortening, all liberal! Damn you God! And your liberal rules of physics in this universe!

  • "Everlooshon ain't true, gawdamit!"

TEXAS SCHOOLS: EDUCATIN YOR CHILREN IN THE SCIANCE OF JEBUS

  • @F33bs It's Jeebus, don't forget the double-e, Jebus would sound like jeh-bus, and it's not chilren, it's chillun's, it's not educatin, it's edumacatin'! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah, please save me from your followers.

  • We need to be honest to our kids -- by teaching them experts don't know what their talking about.

  • I've been trying to study evolution on the internet in my sparetime for a fiew weeks now, I stil have to find that weakness these creationists talk about...

  • @Londron I don't know how you feel about reading, but I can make a few suggestions that will give you a pretty good picture of where the neo-darwinian synthesis (Darwin's ideas regarding common descent and natural selection coupled with Mendel's and more recent ideas about inheritance and genetics) currently stands.

    1) Dawkins - The Selfish Gene (or at least Unweaving the Rainbow which distills the idea)

    2) Dawkins - Climbing Mount Improbable

    3) Shubin - Your Inner Fish

  • @Londron Cont.

    4) Coyne - Why Evolution is True

    5) Dawkins - The Greatest Show on Earth

  • @steveb0503

Time to hit the library me thinks. Got the feeling that trying to study somthing on the internet itself is a bad idea anyway. Thanks.

  • @Londron Hey, no problem. I kinda wish I had someone point the way for me when I was trying to learn "all about evolution" myself, but I have to admit I still enjoyed the search in a way.

Learning on the net is possible, but frought with pitfalls.

When you've learned enough about the "big picture", it will be much easier to sort through mishmosh of information/disinformation to "fill in the blanks" in your understanding - be patient, it'll come to you - and trust me, it's worth it!

  • @steveb0503

Wel, the problem with the internet is you have a lot of trash to go trough, you know, those damn creationistbullshit that you can smell from miles away(thanks americans, seriously, bibles here belong in the fictiondepartement where they belong, -_-), but it's stil some shit you have to avoid.

False information is easy to avoid. The bigger issue is avoiding innacurate information by people who mean it well.

  • @Londron Don't I know it, but that's what I was getting at when I mentioned having a better feel for what you're looking for once you have a better understanding of the "bigger picture", and can navigate the morass with ever-increasing efficiency.

    Good luck, and good learning!

P.S. I put Michael Behe's "Darwin's Black Box" in the "Christian Fiction" section of the bookstore whenever I find it in the science section ;-)

  • this pisses me off so badly

  • Comment removed

  • thumbs up sir!

  • 'stasis'? 'sudden appearance'? thanks texas for yet another maniac loser!

  • @zackmahal

Wel, if you can call 50milioin year "sudden"(cambrian explosion)

  • who needs science, who needs anything? all we have to do is pray and god will do the rest.

  • poor guy... on a school board quote mining a historical figure. :( makes me wanna cry... poor frickin guy...

  • the data "show". do you know how to use a plural noun?

  • McLeroy is the poster boy for "stuck on stupid"

  • This is a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. If you don't know what that is, look it up. It's gold.

  • I only clicked "Like" because I like anything that exposes the Texas Bored of Education for what it really is: a motley collection of anti-intellectual wingnuts that are dragging the quality of edumacation in this country down like a boat anchor.

  • Thank god I don't live in texas anymore!

  • ironic for a disingenuous bullshitter like himself to finish with "we have to be honest to the kids"

I think I would have a lot more respect for him if he flat out admitted "I don't understand so I don't trust it and don't want others to learn it. it scares me"

  • By 'sudden appearance' I take it he means the 60m years of the cambrian, ignoring their precursors in the precambrian. If he's so set on 'stasis' perhaps he can find a rabit in the Devonian.

Am I alone in wondering why he hasn't read Gould in toto?

  • What a dipshit..

  • If the Texas state board of RETARDS wants to play this game, they should get to do it without any Federal funds. They are poised to intellectually impair an entire generation with this BULLSHIT!!! PEOPLE OF TEXAS WAKE UP!!!

  • This scumbag who wants to force his religious lies on society is just an ignorant liar for his stupid baseless beliefs.

  • Evolution takes million of years. The reason why it appears like "stasis" is because these fucktards believe that the world is only 6000 year old. And they wonder why people think we're idiots.

  • @BigBlueSpaceGoat

Yeah, the ones who sorta-kinda believe in it (it's a freaking fact!) try to jam a square peg into a round hole and make evolution fit their fucked up world view; I don't get how people this stupid can remember to breath from one second to the next...

  • @jerico641 Notice how Jerko641 is consumed by visceral hatred for ANYONE who doesn't believe as he does. He actually goes out of his way to intrude where he admittedly has no interest just to assail people with his vitriol and filth. It's usually only ignorant assholes that act this way, and Jerko641 fits that behavior pattern PERFECTLY.

  • This man doesn't understand logic.... and he contradicts himself a few times in this. There's zero hope for him understanding ANYTHING :(

  • he is a disgrace to all people woth mustaches

  • @landesal ,

Yes. He is like a Robert Mugabe of the Texan educational system.

Even if you ignore his moustached status - EVEN THEN, he is still a bad and disgraceful man.

  • “Since we proposed punctuated equilibria to explain trends, it is infuriating to be quoted again and again by creationists—whether through design or stupidity, I do not know—as admitting that the fossil record includes no transitional forms. Transitional forms are generally lacking at the species level, but they are abundant between larger groups.” SJG

  • Hehe! "Us brain-dead hicks gotta stand up to those satanic experts!"

  • What a hypocrite. He wants to tell kids the truth yet he wants to insist on the Christian basis for the founding of this country, which just isn't true. Not all of the founding fathers were christian. Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin just to name a couple, and I'd say they were pretty goddamn important to the founding of this nation. What MORONS elected this jackass!?

  • The fact that we still have people like this in the US in todays times is embarrassing enough, but to have them influencing education is just appalling.

Get him and all the other uneducated creationists out of there before they raise a generation of people as ignorant as themselves.

  • McLeroy is an indoctrinated bible bitch. He's also BTK in disguise.

  • I wonder would average IQ of USA rise up if Texas would leave it....

  • @Tespri Texas would love to leave. I say let them leave and inbreed!

  • What does it say about americans when they allow dangerous people like this into positions of influence....

  • The only thing worse than a moron is as a moron with power.

  • @BrownGargantua

    Welcome to the American government.

  • it's kind of sad that the people who are in charge of this state's intellectual capacity are ANTI-INTELLECTUAL! Not trusting well studied and read experts is the basis of anti-intellectualism.
