  • Excellent parody of contemporary worship services! When churches "water-down" doctrine - worship gets watered down too!

  • cool stuff - please check out my cover of Sunday Morning!! :)

  • Don't you just love 'having' church instead of actually 'being' the church....because I don't.

  • What does his tattoo at 0:50 say?

  • @deadicated96 It's hebrew for the name of God.

  • The truth is that many (not all) have compromised their walk with God to gain fame & fortune. Our job is to spread the good news that Jesus Christ loves & cares for everyone, He died on the cross & rose again for taking away all obstacles that were in our way bringing us to the Father. To pray, encourage, & uplift our brothers/sisters in Christ; to stay away from sin. Now more than ever, we need to pray for one another, that our eyes will not get dim by worldly enticement and glamour.

  • If the people of the church are genuine and mean well, where's the problem?

  • I think if you start worshipping the people who are supposed to be the servants of God more then God himself, something is not right. It's okay to have a good worship band and pastor that is like the head of the church, unless these people are stealing the Glory that belongs to God.That one blonde Hillsong United guy grew that beard >.<' so people wouldn't idolize him,but the focus would be on Christ and Christ alone.Only God can judge and knows the heart though.Just be alert, stay in the spirit ^^

  • I don't know what to make of this. Is it wrong as long as the message stays the same and the method doesn't overshadow the Gospel?

  • It's interesting how everybody's talking about the band and the worship, but nobody's mentioning the Pastor, with his collar, and his impoverished nation talk, etc.

  • @Altermax777 It's difficult to relate or judge a pastor and his sermon. Everyone can relate to music and a "band". Is there something wrong with a sermon that relates to people, contains truth about impoverish nations, and delivered by someone who wants to dress his Sunday best?

  • HAHAHAHAHA! This is so true. It's really sad. That's why I don't go to church as often and often doubt how genuine people are at church. That doesn't mean my faith is unreal- actually it's become more real and I've made more genuine friends.

  • @gugibabu you should probably find a church that is right for you! Its important to find a home where you feel that you can grow spiritually with Christ. God bless!

  • What if it is their form of worship? As stewards of the talents they've been given, they use it for the church?

It's the heart that matters and only God can judge that.

  • ...and therefore "worldly". I on one hand believe that if we are not giving our absolute best to make every single aspect of a worship gathering as close to perfect as we are humanly capable then it shows a lack of devotion and we are just wasting our time. If we say to someone who has a God given talnet for prodction "your skills are not needed here and can't be used" what does that make us??? If someone has a skill that can be used to further the kingdom, then they need to use it, not waste it

  • I love how people have COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT of this video. It is the perfect example of why the church isn't growing. We (the universal Christian body) are spending so much time arguing about how church should "be done" instead of actually helping to make it that way. This video is satirical, and true to an extent. raising the question whether church should be pressented in a well organized and "point for point" planned out event. Or if doing so, makes it become a "production"...

  • Who days what a church should be like? If things out in the world is every changing. Then why shouldn't the Church. When I say Church I'm taking about the structure and how its presented, not the word going forth.

  • Oh smack….lol it’s weird cuz I’m trying to decide whether or not this is sad, or hilarious! Amazing how true it is though…there is ONE church in particular that I’m seeing that fits in this EXACT format….creepy.

  • This is actually so dead accurate it's amazing. This is why so many people don't go to church and for good reason--American evangelical christianity is fake.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! With the increase in intelligence and a slight increase in people willing to think/choose for themselves, power-hungry churches are driven to whatever will keep the numbers growing and money in the speaker's pocket. There aren't many places surviving that aren't using the corporate marketing model to get you in their door.Sadly it's manipulative, trust corrosive, and a sham. There are so many other ways to create community and thrive there!

  • lol

  • Awesome video, thought it was hilarious. I keep waiting for people to start choosing churches because of how Christ is preached, not because of the cool bands/music and programs. Church is not a radio station, I Loved this video.

  • i found it funny the first part of the vid..but this is just a serious reminder and probably showing some realities in some churches today...i earnestly pray and believe that my church is not like that, by God's grace..i am in the worship team and we do play and sing what we call contemporary music..this per se is not bad..it's the motivations and attitudes behind playing and singing that spells the difference..and this is really what matters before God..God looks at the heart and not music..

  • @rax012707 it IS a reality! Many places are EXACTLY LIKE THIS!

And the point is not to "entertain," with the rock band and all that. if that's your motivation, than you've got it wrong.

  • LOL.

  • I think the saddest thing is that this video is produced by North Point ministries for some overseas conference.

Are they trying to claim that churches should not be like this when they follow this superficial and entertainment-based model to the T?

  • Hahahaha! I laughed so hard. so true though...

  • Awesome!! I laughed pretty hard. Too true. We had a local pastor just get a tattoo while he preached a message called "marked for God." Try and trump that kind of sideshow act. And I thought it was the Gospel that was the Power of God unto salvation, not antics and gimmicks. Silly me!

  • My professor at bible college showed us this video! We were talking about how "man-made" church really is. This video says it all!

  • @mgrillo16 Your professor is right!!!. And people believe that.. :(

  • At 1:42 that's how I always felt about the offering haha!

  • How funny and sad. Not my form of worship. I don't choose a church by its entertainment factor.

  • @NewKidontheBlogg People chose churches subconsciously unless they're just chasing tail. This is why I'm a nihilist, whether it's fresh and flashy, or traditional and slow, it's all nonsense.

  • Ha ha. Too funny.

  • Oh, this would be funny if it weren't so true in so many churches. This is what happens when the Bride of Christ caters to the world & it's culture instead of understanding a glimpse of what a HOLY and AWESOME God it serves. Heb 12:28-29 "Therefore ... let us be thankful, and so worship God ACCEPTABLY with REVERENCE and AWE, for our God is a consuming fire.” Worship is for God, not for attendees - let us not bring the sound of a fallen and depraved culture into the doors of our churches.

  • this is the closing song, with strings that will make myou cry!

  • Haha, I love this! My church's music leader showed this in his Sunday School class :D

  • Why can't we just laugh at it - it doesn't mean that it's wrong or needs to be changed. It totally reminds me of a church in San Fran, we got to be able to laugh at ourselves.

  • ok so maybe it pulls in more youth by trying to be "modern" but would you rather have youth pulled in and introduced to the bible, God/Christ, and be a better person OR have kids think religion is just boring and dont want to go to church to learn basic morals, respect and giving?

  • The vast majority of the evangelical world has moved towards this model. They often go by "cool hip names" like Reality, New Hope, the Gathering, etc. In the quest to draw in young crowds, evangelical churches have decided to become like rock concerts, and yet they continue to present a Christianity that is bland, shallow, and that focuses on the self over God.

  • @steakman1989 wow... how do you find time to attend all these churches and keep track with how they are doing week to week. impressive, really impressive. would love to see other comments you've made because it is apparent from your comment here that you know potentially everything there is to know on this... who knows... you might know everything about everything.

  • @foryoursoul25 I appreciate your flattery over my apparent omniscience, but I regret to inform you that I am not omniscient. I have had though an opportunity to experience many churches both within and without the US and this rock concert model is the prevailing trend within the US. In Asia and Europe, Protestant Churches have not reached that kind of model.

  • @steakman1989 okay. i take it back. you don't know everything. I'll try to keep this in mind if i ever come across another comment of yours that seems to suggest otherwise...

  • @steakman1989 Nicely said. Now combine good music and a deep understanding of the message in the scriptures and focus on staying connected to Jesus Christ rather than how many secular kids show up to hear the lead guitar and you may have something.

  • God is not there for your enterainment...a lot of these new churches or as I call groups, miss lead lots of people on what worship is really about. I love how this video shows that...

  • Lol...I feel like I've been to this church a lot

  • Why no women on stage?

  • This was hilarious! It's a reminder for us, whether we are in a traditional or modern church, we can get trapped in "routines" and lose the heart of worship. Great video! and LOL at "informally dressed pastor" and "edgy tshirt" awards

  • Biola Magazine (Fall 2010) in an article titled, "Weightier Worship" asks the question, "Does modern worship need a dose of doctrine (and imagination)? ... This video shows how silly our worship can look from a distance."

I went to a rock concert and a church service broke out. Is church where we sit back and get entertained? Must a service be choreographed and stage-managed? Must church be "hip," so as to not look "square?" Worship is more than "me" the consumer; it's above all about God.

  • It's funny how spot on this is...

  • thats hilarious ! love it . hahaha

  • Very interesting indeed! I watched this transition take place over the last 20 years. What's more interesting is that I sat in a church service that was so close to this video! It's very funny, at the same time very sad, so many people today, are unable to discern the difference. Pragmatism is deeply rooted in the church culture, to the extent that worshiping God, is now replaced by what is really, the church "Worshiping Man, who is Worshiping God" drawing near with their lips; it hard to hear!

  • @gshepard51 you mean churches like hillsong church and the mosaic church in LA?

  • U all are targeting a certain church aren't ya??? LOL Starbucks...believe me I think this is true to a certain degree. the focus needs to always stay on God and we should help each other even the leaders of our church if the focus changes! I don't think this is an attack on modern, but more on staying true...(to be honest I buy the cool shirts!!!)

  • I call it incurred

  • I don't take this video as one that tries to say anything about modern churches being wrong or incorrect. In my opinion its a funny video and that was its intention, its just drawing upon the stuff that goes on and the stuff that comes up alot :P, I couldn't stop laughing about the whole 'this is my new song that nobody knows' because its so relevant.

  • This is so funny. It shows that everyone has liturgy. Even the 'modern non-denominational' churches... I love North Point for poking fun at themselves...

  • so, so true

  • God asked for our hearts... not our mockery of Him...

  • @Demonhuntingmime What do you mean? Do you think the average modern church mocks Christ?

  • @GodsGuy9795 Yes. many of them do... if you don't honor or love God, then why do it all? I have run into so much of this crap and it breaks me. you know what I mean?

  • @Demonhuntingmime If you go to chruch to rock out to a concert then I agree with you. But if this is a form of worship for some people, then who are you to say otherwise? You would be acting just like the Pharisees in the New Testament, believing their form of worship was above all else. Did not Jesus say come to me as you are?

  • @GodsGuy9795 dude, I'm not talking about how people worship. worship is between you and God, not for the other people standing around you. If you do it differently from the way I do it... That's just fine with me. In fact, it's not even my place to tell you how to worship. Again, it's between you and God. OH! I'm sorry bro! I didn't make myself very clear... LEADERSHIP. It hurst me and just pisses me off when church leadership don't honor God. (pastor, worship leader, ect...)

  • @Demonhuntingmime Okay that makes sense. Cool, no I agree with you completely, we were just arguing apples and oranges.

  • @GodsGuy9795 I've dealt with a lot of church leadership that were all out unwise, unloving, and unwilling to do things right. How do you do something right? You follow God. and do what he wants you to. Eph 5:6-21, James 3:13-18, 1 Peter 5:1-11

Do you now understand what I have been trying to say?

  • @Demonhuntingmime Yes I understand completely, thank you for explaining. After all, without Christ, what is the church but a bunch of lost people? Are you a pastor or minister?

  • @GodsGuy9795 Who? ME?? Heck no! I'm just a dumb kid! :D Or God's servant to be more precise...

  • @Demonhuntingmime Cool me too I was just wondering because you saound rather profound hahaha :) It's always cool to meet another kid who's on fire for God!

  • @GodsGuy9795 AMEN BROTHER!

  • @Demonhuntingmime Hahaha :D

  • What's wrong with modern churches? If the connection is made with God, does it really matter how it's made?

  • Don't get me wrong, this video is a bit extreme. Especially with the pastor. But about the worship, I don't think style or instruments make a difference in worship.

  • @GodsGuy9795 It's all about their hearts bro...

  • @Demonhuntingmime That's what I'm trying to say.

  • @GodsGuy9795

Because they worship and connect with greed, not god.

  • @GodsGuy9795 When Sunday morning "worship" becomes a stage show complete with band, lights, choreography, etc., it becomes more of "me" the consumer than "we" the church. If it's about "style" more than "substance," we aren't preaching Christ, we're merely copying culture. The marquee in front of the church should say: "performances" at 9:30 and 11, rather than "service." Church is more than a spectator sport; church is a "verb" and if we don't "connect" with each other, what's the purpose?

  • this is so goooood

  • WOW.

Well, HALLELUJAH, this is finally come.

    Thank you SO MUCH.

    GOD BLESS YOU!

  • Church leaders manipulating their congregations for money? Never!

  • Hmmm...I think this is Eagle Brook Church.

  • This how my church is down to T just like this! It seem like my church is a concert every time I go every Sunday!

  • So funny, yet so sad, yet so true. This is a damnable problem, unfortunately.

  • The fact that so many non-Christians are confused by this ought to say something to Christians about what they have allowed their group to become.

  • LOL I thought it was funny and ironic! but people need to understand the point they're making. They make christians think about what's important in the walk with God.

  • Thanks for the upload! I saw it a couple months ago, then it was taken off for some reason? And i searched for it again and here it is! :) Good way to drive home the point haha.

  • I'm not sure what the intention is, but I have to admit it's funny (although I'm trying not to laugh so hard).

  • @DFerguson722 Yo, the intention not really to cut down on the church, but it is to show what manipulation and wrong motives can do to an otherwise spirit lead popular youth rally, . This is one of the funniest videos I've seen my life.

  • @Altermax777 Oh, and the vid apparently isn't optimal to show to non-believers because they'll either be confused or laugh for the wrong reasons, but believers could gain from this if we examen ourselves or know why people operate for wrong motives.

  • @Altermax777 Thanks for this video. Our church played this, this morning.

  • @JoeBird76 Wow, that's awesome. Thank God. Thanks for telling me

  • @Altermax777 Yeah no problem. Ah..The church, (in general,) these days...It's lost its way. :/

  • @DFerguson722

    Is this Dan from DNA?

  • @DFerguson722 taken from their website: i'm copying and pasting :D “Sunday Morning” was used specifically to employ fun into the conference and set up a message by Andy. The video was meant to be satirical and comical and Andy’s message unpacked the why behind our Sunday morning programming philosophy. That’s all there was to it. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your responses on the various blogs."
