Olivier and Rochas are a match made in heaven. I can't say that any other collections from other labels can rival the level of perfection he created for the house.
These clothes are like a dream; etherial, perfect, and are almost too transient to exist. The shape of the suits is perfect, and I love the delicacy of detail (4:58) - it's nearly heartbreakingly fragile. The fabrics are stunning - look at the way they take the dyes. The long dresses (6:40, 7:05) are particularly memorable. I think the emotion Theyskens invested in each design is readily aparent. What a beautiful soul he is! I hope he never leaves fashion.
I agree! It's such a shame Rochas had to close. And the saddest part was the Olivier was just hitting his stride! It started to SS 05 when he started to do those Edwardian gowns. They were so spectacular at FW 05 and then this show was so youthful and FW 06 was, in my opinion, his best show to date. It was so contemporary! And then it closed!
I didn't see traces of Edwardian design in the F05 collection, but to each his own :). This collection showed a faint trace of Edwardiana; Theyskens work always showed a historical influence, but never in a direct way. F06 maintained an elusive historical reference, but was by far the most urban of his collections. The company showed growth and was developing; it's un-understandable why Procter & Gambel closed it.
