Isn't the concept of immortality of the body just the ego's way of staying alive? The body exists because of ego and the 1%, why would anyone want the 1% world to remain? Youth and beauty forever? That sounds like pure egoism to me! Are we not already spiritually immortal? Energy is endless and returns to the endless source no?
@MatthewKeehan Great question. Immortality does not take place until the ego dies. The ancient Kabbalists say the body (not ego) gets 1000 years of immortal existence in a perfected world of harmony as its reward for helping the soul achieve its transformation. This body is now transformed and not under the rule of ego. So it is free to soak up pleasure for 1000 years. After the 1000 years, everything becomes spiritualized into an even deeper reality of pure consciousness and mind.
