However, I teach in Lesmahagow H S - a Labour instigated PFI building that was not ready when we returned in August (as it was supposed to be)is still not completed. Indeed, as I walk around and see a lift out of order for the fifth time; gaps between floors and skirting boards; leaks that have left the new ceiling tiles already badly stained; floor coverings bubbling up from the floor; and the list could go on and on.
Seems to be all part of the tickbox culture. They build the school, tick a box and everything's fine. That it's not fit for purpose doesn't seem to bother them. A box has been ticked, target reached, a bonus achieved. In education, health, training, employment.... you name it, it's there. Targets with no quality. Fine way to run a country. Well done new Labour.
Sorry hen! But there are already improvements made to Schools across Scotland outside Edinburgh. You wound have to look far to find a school that has already benefited. Fair enough some issues to resolve with schools in Edinburgh but if my Knowledge is correct Labour had already drew up plas to shut schools before they lost power.
Also it was the case that the money for the additional teachers came directly from the Scottish executive/government as before the money had to go through a crooked Labour council that would have used the money to pay off their debt rather then spend on a new teacher.
Just like to point out that Labour obviously have not done much home work on class sizes. I am a parent in fife and have welcomed the fact that SNP have already provided additional teachers and reduced class sizes. The teachers at the school my kids go to are over the moon. Well done Alex.
