Thanks to the anti-fur groups, only a small amount of hunters trap or hunt them. Before you congratulate yourself, imagine your family pet being snatched from your back yard. This is happening all over. Coyotes can take deer but perfer an easy meal like the family cat or dog.

Here in the eastern US, Pumas and wolves, the main predators of deer, are gone. Coyotes are abundant enough that we can afford to hunt some. black bears are also numerous enough to be hunted. But the fact that there are only 1 carnivore for every 10 herbivores, means that hunting carnivores on a large scale can be dangerous. ...nearly all carnivores are threatened in some way or another, hunting them should be limited to the pests (coyotes in some places), invasive carnivores (Burmese Pythons), and man-eaters (like certain pumas, wolves, and bears). And even then, it should be controlled hunting.
As for my pets, they're indoor cats! And dogs like mastiffs and trained pitbulls should be able to defend themselves.
