It has already started with the homelessness. the amount of people being lost to drug and alcohol abuse is terrible. Honestly, the US is so efficient at training killers. I went through 5 months of counciling before I was able to get back into the workforce. (not asking for sympathy, just speaking from experience). it's much the same for a large number of combat Marines/servicemen.

targets are deemed hostile, and then as they are driving (pretty fast mind you) they see some people with guns trying to hide behind some cows. The marines shoot at their hostile targets as they fly by... in the end they find out that the hostile targets were mere cattle farmers with canes. What can a soldier say after that? Put in that position where an area is deemed hostile

(meaning it is highly likely that you will be shot at soon) what would you have done, wait to really see who the people are? If you did that then if they really were hostiles then you just put your team at risk. I'm not trying to patronize or justify killing civilians but don't think that U.S. troops are going around like "Look Bob another civilian, you want to shoot this time?" It's hard for them just like it would be for any of us if we were in their position.
