I think the worst thing was when he left Sun Studio he did not develop his art as a musician .He no longer contributed artistically and creatively. Signing with RCA was the end.
"He no longer contributed artistically and creatively."
Elvis was the most original entertainer there ever was and it was purely because of his looks, charisma, stage presence, and especially his VOICE. His vocals WERE the art and creativity, you ignorant moron.
Really enjoyed this! Great pics' of Elvis I've never seen before! Thanks! I'm so glad my generation was the first to experience Elvis. He was as unique to us Northeners as his name! I remember the first time I saw him on TV. I was mesmerized! I knew he was someone special (and he always will be). :D *****
@Maureen712 Interesting, your mentioning the uniqueness of his name, Elvis Presley. And at first the two names were always said together in referring to him. Growing up in northern Virginia, I too was struck by how different the name looked & sounded, but watched it flash in my teen culture to marquee mystique seemingly overnight. Your "northern" fan perspective is also interesting, that you "got it" as soon as you saw it. Like you, I'm so glad I was there in 1956.
Good Rockabilly version by Elvis. Try also a totally different Rockabilly arrangement by The Collins Kids or even a very early country version by Les Paul accompanying himself on harmonica!
WOW Heb..I first heard this song done by Albert Lee where he delivers an ultimate swingabilly (!) solo..but it's great to go research a "Standard" like this done by the greats of the past..and who better or greater than the big "E"

i always thought that elvis was overrated, but i realized i couldnt make that statement without listening to all of the sun sessions.... i like hiom more, but he definitely doesnt compare with the beatles, bob dylan, dave matthews band, etc.
I'd rate Presley well above Dylan and needless to say, well avove Matthews as well. As far as The Beatles, I'd rate him on a par with them. Elvis totally revolitionised music in a way that no one did before, and only The Beatles did since. There are other artists who's music I like as much, but full credit to the king and the fab four, in terms of impact in music, these two acts stand far above the rest!
A cut from EPs first l.p, probably one of those he did not want on that album! Doug Poindexter (from Scotty and Bill's previous group) plays guitar on the cut.
A fun cut.....I think a better choice than "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine" for B side.
I know it's close to music business sacrilege to say it, but perhaps RCA should have overdubbed DJ Fontana's drums on it.
This video is very impressive. Good editing and selection of photos, which must seem rare to even the deepest Presley fan.
Just Because is such a very splendid song. It should be much better known than it is. All of those photographs were so wonderful. Thanks so very much for making and posting that very magnificent video.
"That no other girl ha-a-a-as got..." lol I love how the way he says that
