Instead of calling each names , think of solutions. For example write your congressman and suggest cancel foreign aid for ten years and with the 150 billion saved invest that all in detroit , why because Detroit brought wealth and prosperity to the entire nation. I appreciate ur film as it shows a pretty good visual representation of our fare city but I think you should of included some other stuff..ie, the amazing music scene, great and full restaurants, 40,000 people at every Tiger game, historical buildings and businesses that are still in operations as well as entire neighborhoods. Point two. Let's say you have an underdeveloped country with high poverty, widespread hunger and disease, and endemic unemployment.
A company looking for cheap labor decides to set up factories (maquiladoras, sweatshops, whatever) NOT out of some altruistic motive, but out of a desire to make money.
Within a few years you have; less poverty, better health, more infrastructure, high employment and a desire for a higher standard of living...none of which the UN or Democrats could GIVE.

One that could control unions, promote deregulation and lower taxes. If we had that by the beginning of the eighties and it lasted for, say, a dozen years, Detroit would be a different place by now.

I've been to Detroit a million times and witness the decline, but I've never thought Detroit who decline into the state it is now. Canada is NOT cheaper labor, it's a safer place to do business and the literacy rate is much higher. Over 50% of Detroit's high school students drop out, the neighborhoods are unsafe, the streets and full of potholes. Would you want YOUR expensive car built here? @DammitDrag Cosmetically speaking, for the most part, yes, it's a shithole. But it has more architectural and cultural treasures than many American cities I've been to. Things like that is what stimulates and interests me, not how "nice" and "new" a place looks.

Anyone who thinks Detroit is full of nothing but low-lifes and drug dealers can go screw themselves. And not everyone on welfare or homeless chooses that life. Bad things happen to good people. In addition, when factories are compared by vehicle segments -- a compact car plant vs. a compact car plant, a pick-up truck plant vs. a pick-up truck plant -- union plants are scored as the most efficient in 8 out of 9 vehicle segments.

By far the unions are what killed g.m, i knew a guy who picked up trash there for years and made six figures, he was union and he made 19 bucks an hour and worked 7 days a week with time and a half, and double time and holiday pay, it was a freekin joke!

I appreciate ur film as it shows a pretty good visual representation of our fare city but I think you should of included some other stuff..ie, the amazing music scene, great and full restaurants, 40,000 people at every Tiger game, historical buildings and businesses that are still in operations as well as entire neighborhoods. And the farms are happening which is amazing and a real and positive thing happening to take Detroit into its next phase. Detroit is grim but also vibrant and soulful.

Monsanto taking over global agriculture and forcing farmers to use their products, you have to come to the conclusion that when a company becomes too big, it has control and will use that control to just make more money, whatever the costs to humans or inviroment. With great power comes great responsability. That responsability is subject to making money. That's their priority.
