@lar5220 The Great Pyramid would probably be beyond modern civilizations capacity to create, actually. It is the most accurately aligned and surveyed building ever built. So, no, their engineering was not shit compared to Greeks and Romans--the G's and R's were impressive no doubt (and my personal taste is mostly for European art and architecture, if that matters) but for sheer staggering skill and power, the ancient megalithic sites beat anything else. Gizeh, Baalbek, Tihuanaco, etc.

Egypt stuff is cool looking because of it's big size age they did everything on a big scale but it still was primitive engineering compared to Greek Roman stuff Megalith structures engineering are all over Europe basically a pyramid is just a huge megalith structure the same technology used to make stone henge in the uk and temples in malta which are older was what egyptians used to make there structures they just did it bigger then any one else but same knowledge was used

@lar5220 Yeah, it's not just the size that makes the Giza pyramid complex so impressive, though. If you look at the quality of the surveying, the incredibly precise tolerances, and so forth, it gets not just impressive but staggering. As in, modern engineers, architects and builders would find it very, very difficult--perhaps impossible--to build the two larger pyramids.

OK, the Moors as liberators is rediculous. The Visigoths didn't welcome them and the Moors didn't gentley take over Spain. The invasion of Frankland (France) just a few years later they raped, pillaged, burned and took slaves. According the written records left by Moorish and Frankish soldiers the Moorish army acted like other medieval/ancient armies in their brutality.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not beating up on the Moors, but to glorify them afterward is historical revisionism, not fact.

@mst3k4evur You maybe right but what I got out of this is that parts of Spain was ruled by many rulers at those times. So it could be true that some people disliked the current rulers of the region and welcomed outsiders but obviously at the same time many must have resisted.

I see your point but the same could be said of the Moors. One rebelled around the time of the battle of Tours and signed an alliance with Duke Odo of Aquitaine, a Visigoth. Later, several Moorish leaders rebelled and invited Charlemagne, king of the Franks, to invade Spain. Neither attempt went well, but it still knocks holes in the idea of Moors as liberators. Also, couldn't it be that many Spaniards just joined the Moors out of fear?

We busted our butts translating and contributing to both Christians and Muslims and we always get pushed aside, since we don't comprise the majority. Currency exchange, economic, social, and civil development were done by Jews (Israelites, ancestors of Israelis, the converted Khazars to Judaism, Hebrews, Black Jews, Beit Israel (denigrated as falashah), etc. And the indigenous people always get it taken the hardest.

The Islam that was sophisticated with Greek borrowed teachings, did not arrive in Al Andalus until much later, the initial conquest was done by barbaric North African tribes. This is one of the most backwards and senseless documentaries I've ever see. This woman says that the Visigoths: "willingly handed over their land", and, "welcomed their visitors with open arms". Where in history do you find a people so willing to be conquered?. Even Native Americans, with their lack of resources fought 'till death to protect their lands from the Europeans.

This documentary is entertaining, but clearly agenda driven (pro-Islamic). While some statements are true, this woman is clearly no unobjective historian regarding the Moor invasion. I would suggest reading a comprehensive book on the subject to gain a full perspective.
