Hector, the real hero. That is not doubted..but your forgetting that there are two sides to every story. A tyrant is only so to the people opposing him. In that time, a king could wipe out a city state or take it over. If he took it over, for the common people? Life didnt change. Troy opposed when they could have instead said what ever sure we'll fight with you. Their king was kind to his people, but just as Arrogant as Agamemnon for ignoring his sons words. Ajax forever strong, a real hero too.
@zachy3621 Who killed an unarmed man? Menelaus? Paris had proposed the fight himself. He should have stayed and died in the battlefield, according to the code of the warriors. Hector did a shameful act, to save his brother, but still Menelaus was not unarmed. Whom were you talking about?
if u didn' want use to comment, you could have it where no one can comment. instead of telling people not to, because that makes it more liekly they will...
Fuck Achilles, never liked him in the movie. Hector was the good guy, all the Greek leaders were fat greedy fucktards who could barely fight so they brought tons of soldiers with them. Troy was clearly better. Too bad they got gutted from the inside.....dirtily i might add
@justkilledit21 Haha Quite funny what you said. Where did you read or see what you describe? The Greeks were fat, greedy and cowards? I assume you've never read even the cover of the Iliad. Homer describes his characters with great sagacity, all of them (Trojans and Greeks) have good and bad moments, pros and cons etc. This manichaeism that some movies - and your opinion of course - are based upon is destructive for a literary work and Homer managed to avoid it.
When Hector got stabbed in the heart it was at the very least somewhat quick. Not like in Saving Private Ryan where you could hear the knife going through everything slowly
In Iliada, of Homero, Menelaus dont die in hands of Hector. Menelaus won a war of troy, together with Agamenon and Odisseus, after ten years, and taked Helen go back of Greece.
Hector killed Patroclus and died in hands of Achilles. And Apolo killed Achilles using Paris, because Achilles desrespected your temple.
Menelaus does not die and this is an inaccurate portrayal in fight 1. Menelaus does shoe Paris to be quite a "woman" and the Hector vs. Achilles scenes is awesome -- most notably when he drags the corpse around for days and days and days -- until Zeus steps in and says, "enough already" !!
GOD, JESUS CHRIST IS A TRUE HERO, BELIVE ME . I AM CHIREN. JESUS IS HERO. I LOVE YOU MY LORD , OF ALL MY HEARTH. THAT YOU KNOW , BEFOR BE FULLFIL. JESUS LORD. MY FATHER JESUS.
@jcp1143 si lees la iliada, te daras cuenta q en realidad hector era un cobarde !!!! y lo q queria hacer con el cadaver de patroclo era horrible por eso aquiles lo mato tan feo
@draqozan No. Paris = Persia and had it not been for French troops there would not be such a place as the USA as Washington would have been defeated by Cornwallis, and tried and hung as a traitor. Then we would not have to have stupid remarks like yours to continue to pollute the world with ignorance.
WTF did the Spartan king just DIE? this isnt what happen,oh and btw,the real reason there is no siege weapon is because, this is the "age of heroes" and the ancient Greeks thought it would be more heroic if they charged the walls head on,after all heroism is what Iliad is all about, that and Achilles ego
The hoplites to the greeks are what the knights to medieval Europe, If you gave a knight a bow,he would of laughed in your face and shunned you for lack of chivalry, its the same mindset here
spartans back then werent the warriorsociety like they were with the battle of thermopylae and the greco persian wars in general, they had only bin doing that for maybe 200 years or so
I am not sure what your saying is really relevant to my comment, I am simply following the kind of mind set the ancient Greeks would have had on their "mythical history".
writings like the Iliad was actually considered real history to the ancient Greeks, and like all these myths, they have a tendency of mirroring the society that created it.
the content of Iliad is mostly fiction, there could possibly of been a battle at a city that so happened to be named Troy, but all this is exaggerated to serve only 1 point and thats the Greek idea of heroism
the reason the greeks had no siege weapons is becasue they never fought with them they would normaly fight on flat ground but in the campain agaisnt the troljians achillies took over 11 citys and 12 islands around troy they could hav use them idk haha and little knowlege for yous king priham had 3 sons paris , hector and troyjis achiilies killed both hector and troyjis
Considering Achilles usually has done with any other enemies within the blink of an eye to a few seconds, Hector did not do all that bad really; lasting several minutes, and coming close on a couple of occasions. Lets put it this way, nobody else ever put a scratch on Achilles' armour. I think it is fair to say, Hector is the best FULLY human mortal. Achilles, being a Demi-God, is kind of in a league of his own, which is unfair I suppose.
man, i really like trojans, i hope that there is a movie about the adventures of exiled trojans led by Aeneas; their war on italy and how aeneas changed to a fearful prodigy in latin battle field.
@MrMrDeathman there wasnt any siege weapon at that time!!!Battering rams and sige towers were only used after Alexanders time period and the catapult was invented around 250BC xD!!
@yourioprog well, I believe they had some form of primitive siege weaponry and if they didn't have a way of breaching the walls, what was the point of invading?

@MrMrDeathman the mycene the group of people who made up the trojans and agamemnons menwere poor at siege warfare. this would follow them untill the age of alexander
this is real balkan history do you now which countries this history belongs to , greece, macedonia, bosnia and hercegovina, croatia, serbia, albania, montenegro, bulgaria and the part of turkey which actually belongs to greece
In the Hector-Patroclus fight scene, it was actually Brad Pitt in the fight scene, not Garrett Hedlund (Patroclus). Then once the throat was cut, the scene was re-shot to show Patroclus.
This scene with the battle was my favorite part of the movie and actually became a fan of eric bana cause he played my favorite greek hero pretty good.
Achilles wasn't being cocky and reckless, he was pissed off that Hector killed Patroclus, which why he wanted to fight Hector in the first place. If you were pissed, you woudln't fight like Hector, you'd act cool and keep your current anger in check like Achilles, who is a seasoned fighter and knows how to do that.
Persians were actually the ones who started the Trojan War. Not Greece.
