It's funny you say the launches were unrealistic Goreslam, because if you check out the trivia section of Imdb it says they were footage of real rocket launches from actual space missions. :-)

Yeah this song is so Awsome and well made for the movie and scene. Which emphasizes the scene and significance of the launch. Which they used real footage of Shuttle launches and CGI'd the X-71's over the shuttle. And to this day sometimes I'll watch a shuttle launch along with this music and still a tear comes to my eye.
