The major difference between EVE and Infinity, in my opinion, is the scope of the universe and the twitch based combat. That, and hopefully Infinity won't feel like another job. Right now the game is in the early stages of development, and won't be released for another 1-3 years. However, from what I've been able to find out on the website, they will try to keep it f2p for as long as possible (however, with such a massive scope, it will probably cost some money).

as far as I know, there are not many people who know that this game is even in development. But still it is in a early development state :/
