  • Canadians usually always have a hard on for Australia and New Zealand.

  • racist shithead

  • Ya I can tell the difference between a kiwi and australian accent as well, but I don't blame you or anyone for that matter to confuse an American and Canadian accent because honestly especially our larger Canadian cities have pretty much the same accents as the closest neighbouring American cities. So not your fault don't worry :P

  • @FearOfTheFlesh

Actually the Canadian accent is a cross road between British and American

Canadian accent sound more formal and softer

same thing with New Zealand accents compared to Australian

  • haha i love you, i'm canadian and am currently in new zealand. I can definitely tell the difference between a kiwi accent and an australian accent

  • Normal Americans (like me and I live in Virginia) can tell the difference between us and Canadians. You just have to listen to how Canadians say "ou" sounds like in "about". To me and my friends at least it sounds weird.

  • I'm Canadian and I can't tell the di between South Africans and Aussie's straight away and as for Kiwi's... Iv'e never seen a New Zealnder in my life, sad!

  • I don't know about the rest of Canada..but I live near the boarder in Northern Maine and I could definitely tell if someone is from the New Brunswick/ Maritimes area.....slight accents and terminology and oh yes can't forget the Quebecois

  • Im from Canada and I can tell the difference between an Australian and an American.

Americans and Canadians do have slightly differnent accents but only on certain words and phrases.

  • Haha that's so true I have trouble telling between the American and Canadian Accent

  • americans cant tell the difference bettween britts and ozzies its pretty common

  • I live in Philadelphia and I was recently in Toronto, Canada and met an Australian working at a store. He seemed to be surprised that I knew he was Australian he said that most people he met thought he was from the UK

  • every american lives in a trailer park and rides a horse and owns a gun. we also make it mandatory for citizens to drive pick ups. its the law

  • How could you ever get Canadians and Australians confused? Maybe I'm biased since I live in Detroit and therefore go to Canada a lot but whatev.

  • Umm he said "Americans can't tell the difference between Australians and Kiwis". New Zealanders - not Canadians =]

  • Ah, you're right. I wasn't listening very closely.

  • we americans are nuerotic!!! lol. we also love apple sause. hmm maybe thats just me. im not too fond of parliaments, too unstable but at least with that kinf of government you don't get stuck with a bush... i wonder how brits feel about brown. poor brown. he'll pull through i mean the labor party always wins. can anyone tell im a major nerd? lol. nuerosis? poultry yeah.

  • I actually get The Brits & Australians confused very quickly.... It's really embaressing sometimes.

  • Also Canada is very comparable to the North Pole, atleast 90% of the country has snow 11 and a half months of the year, our government has written into the constitution that it is every Canadians right to own a polar bear for labour and transportation (kind of like the ox of the north), and elves are the back bone of our great nation... kind of like the goblins in Harry Potter

  • American's can't tell the difference between Americans and Canadians either so it's okay. Besides, we Canadians are too laid back to care too much that you thought we were American, actually we take great offense at being confused with Americans, however we can't hold a grudge to save our lives...

  • Americans feel the same way when people think were canadian.

    pisses me off.

  • Yay, no neurosis for me... ;'D

  • Hellz Yea GO Canada!!

  • Canada has more flavours of candies than America. And Chips.

    Can I say irony?

  • -sadness- I hate our public school system :[ WHY AMERICA?! WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!

  • americans have the slurred accent

  • yeah, Canadians tend to enunciate more. at least so says one of my friends from Canada.

  • Bam! I'm from Canada. Love the post. 5/5

  • I've had that problem before, confusing the two nationalities. I'M SORRY I JUST GO BY WHAT I SEE ON TV :P

  • and we brits LOVE aussies and canucs!!!! <3

  • I nearly missed this! =O

  • Well I'm American, and I think that I can tell apart Australians and Kiwis better than I can tell apart Americans and Canadians.... is there something wrong with me?

  • Lol Canadians hold that smug above them but if you want to say all of the Americans are Fox news beliving bible thumping idiots then your mostly right.

  • No love for America? =(

  • HAAHAHA hilarious

  • Elves live in harmony with their igloos and pet beavers.

    :)

  • Love your vids bro, but ouch on the America hate. We have similar histories, our countries, and all countries have problems; I mean we even rank higher on Environmental Performance Index than you. We love you guys, so toss some love our way, yeah?

  • I'm a fraternal twin! :O ...but I'm also American. Uh-oh.

  • I'm subscibing to you just because of this video! LOL.

  • you are a god for this,

  • im british and i cant tell the difference either.

i dont think many brits can.

  • ok I did not understand fucking word

  • Can Australians from perth tell the difference from Australians sydney or darwin? If so how are the accents different?

  • theres so many different accents in america i find it amazing how some people can tell where your from just by your accent

  • Yeah! I'm from Canada and I love Minneapolis!!

  • and I'm from Minneapolis and love Canada :-)

  • So then Rohan, for those of us who are Canadian and don't know the truth about Australians vs. Kiwis, tell us the story!

  • ouch

i don't know if i should feel offended at this...

oh well, i still love you.

  • Pretty much just noticed that I make a very partial appearance in the "OMG Comments" picture. How exciting.

  • Hey you do! Totally jealous :p

  • .

    good grief you're cool!

    .

however, not all of us americans are quite that clueless (namely me)

    .

anyway, fairly new subscriber here and i like your vids...good on ya mate! LOL

    .

    .

  • i can now tell the difference between koreans and the chinese and such.

    it is magical.

  • I needed an update!! THANK YOU!! Gosh..look forward to your posts and OMG COMMENTS!! LOL!!

  • I'm American. I can tell the difference between Kiwis and Australian's. But I can't pick out Canadians unless they have very strong accents....but sometimes I just think they're Minnesotan... because Canada and Minnesota are the same thing.

  • Yeah it is hard to tell the difference between Canada and Minnesota at first but once you've been to either you can normally guess correct.

  • LOL. As a Canadian living in the USA, I'll vouch for this statement.

  • Well that was fun. I'm Australian, and I like to think I can identify the Canadian species amongst the Americans. I actually met some nice Canadians in New Zealand once. They could tell we were Australian too, but that might've been because we were acting like tourists.

  • Thanks for the vid response, Rohan. I have yet to get fully into this YouTube thing, but I plan on getting a camera sooner rather than later.

I pretty much expected everything you were going to say. The accent, culture, and general appearance between Americans and Canadians is almost indiscernable. (Except for a weird and mysterious part of Canada called Quebec. Anyone who knows that I'm talking about, well, knows what I'm talking about)..

    Cheers!

  • it's true, i cannot tell australians from new zealand-ers...

  • Hey rohan can your next video be on why australia doesnt/cant have an R18+ rating on games, you kinda alluded to it in the lfd2 banned but i know theres alot of political crap behind why we dont have one/cant get one and with the censoring of the intersphere and all that jazz.

  • Thanks mate, from one of your Canadian viewers!

    Canada rules!

  • Canada gets a Canadian goose!

  • australians take over our mountains in canada lol... i can tell the diff between new zealanders and aussies... its all in the "eggs" love ya

  • ha, the standard line is fish and chips.

  • it's best just to ask someone with a N American accent where they are from because if you say 'are you from america?' it's like saying 'are you really uptight and angry when you visit foreign places because you are forced to adapt to a culture unlike your own?' ouch

  • If Canada wasn't so cold in the winter....I would move there..lol.

  • Eh?

  • Canadians can't always tell the difference either. If they have a southern accent or a New Yorker accent or something, sure, but otherwise it's pretty similar. More so than Australians and New Zealanders I dare say.

  • The world can't tell the difference between Australians and kiwis.

Though it's my personal goal to be able to by the time I leave in December.

I thought I was getting it, but then an episode of "Packed to the Rafters" came on and I thought it was made in NZ -__-

  • Canadian Geese!

I mean, yay. The best way to tell us apart: sarcasm. Canada has a really dry, sarcastic sense of humour.

And we have all the cool things... literally and figuratively.

  • Notice I was good and didn't even mention that there was no pantry in this video? (picture me here patting myself on the back for behaving, Rohan!)

  • According to my firend who's from Canada but now lives in the states, they actually say 'Ay'. (Rhyme! +2) I thought it was just a myth :P

  • EH?

  • I don't get how some Americans can't tell the Difference between Aussies and Kiwis. It's very obvious.

But I have a thing for accents; I love listening to the differences in them. I remember the first time I heard Daniel Radcliffe interviewed on the radio, I had never heard his natural accent, and I thought, Huh, I didn't know he was from Essex.

  • what do you think of Icelanders?????

  • Bjork and Sigur Ros, that is all.

  • that's not nearly all. but i agree that sigur ros makes up like HALF.

  • Lol I mean that is all I know, not that is all that's there. I know they have their own language but can you understand any of Sigur Ros' lyircs?

  • You australians aren't the only ones to always think Canadians are Americans. They do it pretty much everywhere in Europe too =P

Funny story though when my friends and I were in London we were waiting for a bus and this guy asked us if we were American or australian.... Don't ask how he couldn't tell those two apart ... it's beyond me.

  • Yay Canada! When I went to Paris they just assumed I was American and for some reason hated me but when they found out I was Canadian, they all wanted to have my babies or something.

  • I pretty much agree with everything you said in this. You just know things.

  • That is so funny. I think most people can't tell the difference between Canadians and Americans. That is why us Canadians are told to travel around with Canadian flags on our luggage lol.

  • We Americans do that, too. Just so people won't bug us about being American. Hah.

  • LOL, This is funny :-) I can tell because I think Canadians have a different accent than we do. Australians and Kiwis?? LOL I love that. I think I can tell the difference because kiwis, a lot of times, sound like people from South Africa. Wherever people are from, they are cool to me because I love hearing different accents.

  • Great explanation of Canada. I'm not entirely sure if you can generalize Canadians because people from different parts of the country have entirely different personalities. Just like in the U.S.

Congratulations on your new Canadian popularity. Is it more Western or Eastern though?

We've got French writing on our food, Poutine, and all the American movies we want.

So a Kiwi is a fruit, and an Australian is a person :-P

  • @rnb8220 HAHA a kiwi is a fruit, those new zealanders are p'd off at you

  • @canascot02 they'll mellow off after a while. They do live in Middle Earth, hah hah

  • @rnb8220 haha yah somewhere neare Mordor

  • @canascot02 Mordor is the best part of Middle Earth. Especially w/ views of that EPIC night light/security system

  • @rnb8220 lmao oh yah, grea view

  • I absolutely cannot tell Americans and Canadians apart. There are so many accents in the US that no matter how hard the Canadians try to pronounce their vowels differently, they're still going to sound like they're from somewhere in my country.

  • really??? Canadians are the ones who say "eh" every other word or so...

also they're a lot more polite.

  • it is totaly apropriat that canada gets a goose, because one of are national birds is.....wait for it....the canada goose!

  • You walk a fine line Mister Fillet.

  • I totally agree. I spent a year studying education at Southern Cross Uni in Lismore, NSW, and I have to agree that most Australians always assumed I was American.

When I was doing in-school practicums, all the students would call me American and even after explaining I was from Canada they'd still ask me what's it's like living in America, etc. One of the most common questions was if I had ever met anyone famous. LOL

    I miss Australia.

  • LOL @ American being neurotic! I agree, we are.

  • I'm Welsh and I've been mistaken for a Kiwi before.. how the hell does that work

  • Lol it doesn't.

  • Haha wow that's quite something

  • They're pretty freaking awesome... didn't they just get nation-wide free internet?

  • WE DID? cause i certainly still have to pay for mine.

  • It's true, being mistaken for an American will really piss some Canadians off. I'm not that offended by it, but I like to think we are classier. Am I an elitist? Maybe. I just call it patriotism. lol. Loved the video<3

  • oh my aussie love <3

  • why do you hate meeeee?

  • Agreed. You know, given that i'm Canadian, and have been mistaken for an American many times.

  • For a while we tried to pass ourselves off as Canadians while traveling over seas.

  • That was great, loved it! =D

  • Santa lives in Finland

I just had to make that clear

  • I am Canadian, and I approve of this message!

  • Crazy eyes! You've got the crazy eyes!

  • Hey ya my dad's Canadian, which I guess makes me part Canadian

    YAY

  • Great video as always. :D I'm American. And I must say I agree with this video whole heartedly. XD

  • canada is neat.

    just like you.

    you talk fast.

    canada does not.

canada is a land mass and only talks in my head.

  • Lol.

  • yeh but our neuroses are what make us interesting ...

    *twitch*

  • Lol. If only I could facebook 'like' this comment.

  • you could give it thumbs up haha

  • Holidays are great aren't they, I'm on them next week.

  • I know you didn't just say americans have a neurosis...dont make come down there and put a cap in your......oh wait maybe we are a bit psychotic.....

  • CANADA!

  • Love Australians!! I'm English, but living in France, and I just met my first real life Australian! He told me that all Australians knew Steve Irwin. Is this true?? He's going to make me try Vegemite and chicken salt, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this!!

  • Avoid the Vegemite at all costs!

  • Every day on toast baby! and yes a very astute remark on Canadians.

  • But I promised I'd try it at least once. I'm scared now!!!

  • Chicken salt is good on chips and this is coming from a vegetarian (I don't eat it anymore). I encourage everyone to try Vegemite at least once but remember if it is your first time apply it really thinly! seriously you have to build up a tolerance. Its a standard joke in Aus, Americans having it as thick as Nutella on their first go and gagging. I seriously do eat it every single day though.

  • bahahahahaha xD It's always hard to keep up, but I love your videos

  • Yay! I love when you post. Canada is basically America Lite. Same great American flavor without all the stupidity.
