  • well i have a question.

which of your products is the best for effects?

(no offense but im asking which one is the best not which one is more expensive)

  • Don't worry, we never recommend our most expensive product if it's not what the customer actually needs.

However, I can't really answer your question without more information. 'Best for effects' is extremely vague, so could apply to any of our products.

I'd recommend heading over to the FXhome website and asking on the forum, as you'll get more responses from customers rather than FXhome staff, which should be more impartial.

  • ok ill head over there sometime today

  • ARGHHH! I had the perfect idea too!

  • Oh crud i saw this video too late

  • i have a question... I'm gonna buy fx lab pro kinda as a christmas present to me because i like to film things and make movies, anyway if you download fx lab pro instead of shiping it if you accidentally deleted it from your computer would you be able to re-download it off the site again for free?

  • Yeah, you get permanent access to your downloads, so re-downloading isn't a problem.

  • okay good sounds good then

  • your a part of the fx home team right??

  • Sorry, the competition finished a long time ago.

  • If you pause at 0:07 you can see the camera guy filming... :)

    Nice contest though....

  • hmm....they are really not dump, why invest money in a comercials on tv, when all they have to do is say we will give 1000 for a best movie made with our banner, so what they get is lots of movies on you tube with their information i mean a banner.

well its normal no one would give 1000 for nothing or just your own movie without banner, and this what is called a good marketing work, well lazy work good idea .

  • Why the hell did I JUST find out about this contest NOW?

I wish I would have known about it earlier.

I feel like such a douche...

  • Where? I don't see them at the moment.

  • Keep checking the site over the next hour.

    the suspense is killing me!

  • i so exited to see the results

when they come out and that will be a will

  • Oh i apologize i see it now

  • Hey guys- i posted my submission on the 13 around 9:30 gmt but its not on the list. Could you double check me? Thanks, and great contest by the way!

  • WOOT GO CATTBLU

  • It's almost midnight here and for about an hour my video has said "processing" under My Videos. Arg! I'll put it as a response once I've got it all up.

  • Alright! so now we just wait! Good job everyone and good luck to you all :D

  • I posted my video twice one low restulation and one high

cause i wan ted to get it in before the 15th

    is that ok?

i will delete the lower resolution video if you exept both videos.

  • i thought i made my video a response??? Do you have to approve it?

  • mines uploading right now

  • Submitted mine a few minutes ago, but it's not in the list yet.

  • my video isn't on the list yet to .

  • Thanks to everyone that has submitted videos. We're still accepting videos and will be until the end of today (Friday 14th). We'll have some leeway in order to accommodate different time zones - as long as you submit before the end of Friday 14th in YOUR time zone then it's ok by us.

We can't wait to check out all the entries!!

  • I posted my entry 5 hours ago, I can see it live in my vids and in theory have responded to the contest video but it doesn't show in the responses or in my list of available videos to use as a response. Is this normal? Can I be disqualified because my entry isn't processed in time? Should I post a link to it on the wall before the deadline comes about?

  • Hi! Your video has been accepted now. We've had a big influx today so it's taken us a while to get through them all. In case anybody else is wondering, when you submit the movie it lists exactly when you uploaded it, so don't worry if we don't approve it straight away or before the deadline - as we'll still be able to tell when you uploaded.

  • So when does the competition finnish and when will the winners bee annouced?

  • I have around 4 hours left until its 12 AM Saturday 15th of March... is that fine?

  • It wont show up until tomorrow most likely. They have to ok the response.

  • Sorry, it took 2 days to upload, hope its not too late becauase it is march 14th

  • at what time do you think the response saying who the winners are will be made?

  • I'm just finishing up the last scene of my video! It'll be around 45 seconds long. Woo!

  • can you use music that isn't yours?

There's no rule about copyright issues?

  • YouTube doesn't let you upload stuff if you don't own the copyright, so just go by the usual YouTube rules.

  • Youtube doesn't let you upload "TV shows, music videos, music concerts or commercials without permission unless they consist entirely of content you created yourself." I couldn't find anywhere that says you cannot upload someone else's music for background sound score.

Due to this ambiguity, I have posted TWO entires (one without sound score) so that I won't be disqualified by infringing copyright issues. Thank you for understanding Fxhome!

  • That's sort of blanket statement from YouTube. They say somewhere in the top in their Terms of Use about copyrights.

The basic law is that if it's not yours, and it's already licensed: you can't use it.

So hurry and find replacement music, man. Check out RudyPicardo(dot)com for some quick links to some really cool tracks. I'm sure you can re-add music and render/upload in enough time!

  • I'm almost finished with my video!! Hopefully I'll get it all together in the end. A LOT of the entries seem to be in a British accent. I hope it turns 12:00 in England's time several hours after it turns 12:00 in the US. xD

  • LOL I used every second of that 5 minutes :) hehe - I'd like to think the pace is good though to support it

  • when is the deadline hour on march 14?

  • March 14th 23:59 GMT

  • Can you PLEASE lengthen the dead line... because I'm working really hard on a script and I ordered a new camera but I don't think that it will come until this weekend.

  • Sorry a deadline is a deadline, however you should still make your movie, we would still love to see it!

  • When will the winners be announced? Will it be 14th or will we have to wait a few days?

To the below comment, I think they meant shorter is better if your video idea is dragging along, quick to the point sometimes is best unless your packed with visual candy.

  • As soon as we have watched all the videos we will announce

  • and if, lets say, the video is 6:30 minutes with a wicked ideea but still 6:30 minutes would you accept it ? : )

  • Needs to be 5 mins im afraid :)

  • okay so , what if the film is long - in minutes - let's say 5:00 minutes . But it dellivers a good message, a wicked ideea about videowrap , will the minutes be a drawback ? or would the ideea count even more ?

  • The idea is the important thing. :)

  • pwnage

  • 2 Questions:

    1. Do credits count towards the five minute time limit?

    2. Is March 14th the last day we can submit a video or is it the first day we can't submit a video?

  • Yes, credits count towards the five minute count.

You can submit entries on the 14th

  • Can we use a song that's copywrited? C:

  • Youtubes terms and conditions state you are not allowed to submit copyrighted material :)

  • You said the banner needs to be at the end of the video. I actually have it at the end but the last frames say something about Vwrap. Is that suitable.?

  • Yeah thats fine

  • wow!

THATS KLASS!! U guys are the best, especially simon jones :)

  • I am definitely entering this, guys.

I plan on doing a quick 'commercial-style' ad (what you said you DIDN'T want, haha) just to submit something, and an actual film if I can get all the resources together.

Expect a lot of drama for no reason. And maybe some guns. I kid, I kid. :D

  • I have a question, does the video have to talk about Video Wrap in general?

  • I needs to be related to videowrap in some way, yes.

  • I've just begun making the animation for this. I can't wait till I'm finished.

  • wanderingtaoist made a good video but I would call that a commercial and they said they dont want commercial stuff.. but that was very good..listen to the rules again

  • can you enter more than 1 video

  • Yes

  • i am entering

  • i've posted a video reply

its not on the Responses just wondering if you got it or not :)

does the winner get a free copy of video wrap ;)

even if not! i'm sure with $1000 its worth buying lol!

    thanks for making this Comp!

your the best! (have u seen how bad particle illusion is compared to this btw hehe)

  • cant wait to enter

  • Can't wait to see your entry!!

    Thanks.

  • so entering this!

  • oh my, got to put my thinking cap on!

  • if anyone cant get videowrap and wants to get videoes on you tube faster then you can put it on windows movie maker and publish it and it should work. i use vegas and if i take it strate frome vegas to youtube than its to big so i guess movie maker dumbs down the quality or something

  • real movies are made on macintosh

  • We've always been of the opinion that real movies are made by real filmmakers. What type of computer they use is completely irrelevant. :)

  • lol

  • legacy162507: That's so not true! For Example, the movie Superman Returns was made on a windows computer. Adobe premier was used to edit the video.

  • legacy162507: That's so NOT true!

  • You guys rock!

  • yes , thank you

  • okay so if we make a film for you guys , does it necesarely has to be within 30 seconds ? you want it like a comercial ? we were thinking of something like 2 - 3 minutes , a funny movie about videowrap . Please reply : )

  • Please check out the rules in the description box. Max length is 5 minutes, and it can be any type of movie as long as it has something to do with VideoWrap. So it sounds like your idea will fit those criteria.

  • You guys make me fly...I don't think anyone could ever sell Videowrap better than you two did in that little video.

  • I just downloaded the demo and fell in love. I would buy this product. Can i get a discount? XD

  • w8 it can only be with videowrap

  • are we allowed to submit 2 entries

  • yes, you can submit as many entries as you wish

  • The videos don't need to be technically top-notch, though. We want fun, entertaining, innovative ideas. You can shoot it on your mobile phone if you want to keep costs down.

You don't need to include a viola in the film, but it's entirely up to you.

  • I think he meant "Voila" As in the frehch word.

  • I think they know. They were being slightly witty and sarcastic. Thats the FXhome team for you. Proper British [drinks a cup of tea and eats a crumpet]

  • Would a short film or a commercial be more ideal? Or make the short film a commercial? haha.

  • Either, as long as it's a good idea. :)

  • Don't be so down on your own work! Practice makes perfect, as they say.

You can sign up to PayPal for free.

  • sweet!

  • Can you use someon elses paypal account, like me using my dads.

  • Yep, that's not a problem.

  • can there be mild cursing??? not alot

  • If you like. You won't get any bonus points for it, though. :P

  • hah okay Im working on it

  • Yep, that's the logo. If you need to give the illusion of the program working/installed but you don't own it, you can always install the demo while you make your video.

  • How many entries per person ?

    -sizzlingnoodles of FXHome

  • As many as you like! :)

  • I think there has been some confusion right. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is suppose to be a 'short film' right as oppose to an 'ad'.

    I'm a bit confused.

Another question is, could the short be in a different language other than english (with subtitles though) ?

  • Yes, foreign language is fine, though we'd obviously appreciate subtitles so that we know what's going on. :)

Whether it's a short film or an ad is up to you. What we want is something imaginative and innovative. If we wanted a standard commercial we'd do it ourselves or hire an advertising company - what we're hoping with this competition is to really unlock the creativity of YouTubers all over the planet, and see what they're capable of.

  • If I use on of your products, what would I do about that big X. I've had the effects lab demo for three years and i know that it shows up if you didn't buy it.

  • I wouldn't recommend using something with a demo watermark on it (unless you can somehow work it into the concept!). My only real advice would be to buy the full version of EffectsLab. :P

  • 1. Do you have to own the product and 2. Whats the cut off age?

  • As we say in the video, you don't need to own any of our products to enter. It's probably a good idea to check out the VideoWrap demo so you know what you're talking about, but you don't have to own it. There's no cut-off age for the contest itself, but you do need a PayPal account to receive the prizes, which require you to be 18 or over. If you get a parent or guardian to sign up on your behalf that should be fine, though.

  • omg cool sounds a lot of fun

  • Are you sure you submitted it as a video response? You need to do that otherwise we won't see it.

  • If you like. :) Looking forward to your submission!

  • At 00:08, you can see the cameraman, lol. Wow, what a generous offer.

  • Hehe yeah, we noticed that. We did some other takes in which you couldn't see the cameraman, but the delivery wasn't as fun. :)

  • BTW, What camera is that?

  • The vid was shot on a Panasonic HVX-200, although we only shot in PAL DV resolution. HD is slight overkill when you're distributing via YouTube. :)

  • HD is NEVER overkill! Muahahahaha!

  • how many videos can someone submit

  • As many as you like, presuming YouTube doesn't have a limit on video responses.

  • Now I know you said it's the idea that counts, so do you mind if we included music in our videos that we don't exactly have rights to? ^_^

It would have a key role in the film as well....not just filling the silence =P

  • I'm pretty sure YouTube's submission rules require videos to not include any copyrighted material that you don't hold the rights to, so you'll need to abide by those.

  • i have a question is there a limit on how many times you can post a video response?

  • Not as far as we know - we certainly don't mind how many entries you submit. As long as YouTube doesn't have a limit, go right ahead with as many as you like. :)

  • Does this have to include any effects, like from your other programs? See, I've had the vision lab demo for about three years and I know how everything works, but that big X over the video gets in the way. I don't know if you would accept that.

  • Nope, it doesn't have to include effects from our other products. This competition is open to everyone, not just our existing customers.

  • so the guy is english but the prize money is in dollars?

  • We're a UK company, but the vast majority of our customers (and YouTube viewers) are in the US. :)

  • MATE, I will promiss you I RAFiD163 Will WIN the $1000,

lol maybe not but I will try my best shot, you'll hear from me soon.

    cheerz.

    FXHOME USER.

  • I'll Promiss you If I don't Win this Compitition, I will have one of the best adds you'll ever see about VideoWrap.

    faithfully yours RAFiD163

    FXHOME USER.

  • We can't wait!! :D

  • Can people from the UK enter?

  • Yes, we'll accept entries from any country

  • how many videos can we submit.

  • As many as you like - or as many as YouTube allow as video responses anyway (I'm not sure if there's a limit?).

  • Who ever wins, How do you pay them? Can you please explane details?

  • Via PayPal, as said in the video. As long as you've got a PayPal account, which is free to sign up to, it'll be fine.

  • Are we allowed to put the video wrap promo video as a comercial someone is watching on TV in our film?

  • I don't see a problem with that, although I'm also not entirely sure that I fully understand your question. :) Could you clarify a bit?

  • In my film, a guy is watching tv, and he sees a commercial for Video Wrap. It's the presentation posted on the FXhome website on the products page.

  • Sounds fine to me!

  • so what exactly do you mean when you say "no commercial stuff"?

    im interested in joining

  • Hi Scary Ghost, take a peek at the news page over at FXhome dot com. If you click on the 'Comments' button relating to this competition you'll find lots of discussion and some further details on the kind of thing we're looking for.

  • yep, i am almost finished with my submission, might be done by tommorow and posted.

  • What do you mean "Positive about Videowrap"? you mean I have to say something in it about videowrap or what?

  • Yes, the competition is about VideoWrap. However, how you involve it and to what extent is up to you.

  • hmmmm i just might enter *this* contest as well!! I've no clue how to show the positive side of a product on the net, cuz i've never done commercials. i just finished 1 about a radio station locally and am about to put it in soon, but.. not about something like this. *this* will be challenging in a very good way! :)

  • im gonna enter

  • so if Tsrn ever gets tired of special effects we know he has a great future as a darts caller. :)

  • Can It be a Lego Stop Motion?

  • I dont see why not! :)

  • ok cool.

  • I going to enter for sure i'll start filming this weekend!

  • can i just make the short film you can keep the thousand dollars

  • WRONG DAMN TIME FOR MY CAMERA TO FRY!! Ahh! Haha, you couldn't make it end in april so I could have my gl2 in time? Haha, jk. Can't wait for your next competition!

  • A thousand DOLLARS?? Shouldnt it be EUROS????

    I'll take the EUROS.

  • The prize is $1000, and if the winner is outside of the US then the prize will be converted using the exchange rate at the time of prize-giving.

  • so *right now* 1000 euros = 1478 american dollars. :) just so everyone knows. but that's *right now*. that may change by March 14...

  • It'll be the other way around. So currently 1000 US dollars = 676.93 Euros.

  • i just went on a site that exchanges currency. you said the prize is 1000, and if they're out of the US it'll be converted - implying when you *say* 1000 - you mean 1000 in euros. :)
