@outlaw1972 Tekes run somewhere in most horses bloodlines. So if they have "flaws" as you say, they were still used in thoroughbred bloodlines because of their speed and stamina.

As a child I collected pictures from horses, hundreds... And there was that one picture of an elegant silver-colored, bright shining horse, that impressed me so much and that I still remember, it was called "the akhal teke". That was the first time I saw such a horse and became aware of its existance. I have gotten horses, but akhal teke are hard to find over here. Thnx for posting them on Youtube!

You're wrong!! Akhal teke is one of the most pure breeds in the world, the turkmen is one of the horse lines that contributed to improve most of the horse breeds that we know today. It's comparable to arabian horse. If you look for information about akhal teke aptitudes and then you would know how amazing are these horses. They can be succesful in all equestrian disciplines. An example is the dressage horse Absent!

i come from moscow and most of my horses are akhal tekes.and they are just one of the best breed of horses you can get.they are amazing jumpers,can out pace a tb and will come way ahead of any arab in endurance(they will go through the kara kuma desert with limited water and no food)and have breath taking dressage talent.but they are not for the faint hearted rider!!!

yes the breed is very beautiful. when i worked with my old hunter trainer in FL, we had a boarder who brought the very first 5 Akhal Teke's in the state. They were all yearlings and some 2y/o. I don't know where they are now. but they were really lovely horses.
