Love it... I agree, society has the American African stuck on American so called fashion & trends. I would love to wear my own clothing style; the style of the african woman, 1 day i pray i will.. Where would u get the clothes?

@nem1901 depending on where you live int the states you can get the material or you can get made up clothes , if you are in places like new york or new jersey which have a high nigerian and other west african populations you can get hold of a number of places , just google for venues if you are in places with a low concentration of africans its more difficult .you will have to travel to get either a place they sell our materials or tailors who make the clothes.. here in the uk its a lot easier

How I found you is this morning, I am on the internet, trying to find African fabrics - this summer I will have an African inspired wardrobe to go with my now, right at my shoulder, length locks!! I'm an aspiring hairstylist and am styling for a fashion show in which the theme is international so I'm making a Gele from hair for one of my models to wear- it'll definitely bring a few opinions out here in Hawaii- it's not just white people who aren't happy when our hair's nappy, lot's of asians are the same way, yet they all want to "texturize" their hair to have what we have. Thanks so much for this video and everyone's comments. I am taking my hair back to natural and it's sooo hard to get off the "creamy crack" so I appreciate inspiration like this. The history lesson is interesting too- my mom is Jewish and my father Maroon from Africa- so I have heard this history before but always thought it was just a family tale, nothing really true, now I believe.

Very well said Ebeledi. I wish all African women who use perms would watch the movie "Good Hair," by Chris Rock. I love my natural locks and the freedom that comes with not using toxins on my scalp, endless hours at the salon, high maintenance and the pain and suffering.
