@55honor you mis-read my message, of course i know it's scottish, i played it a wedding for a scottish couple 6/7months ago, was merely being complimentary of the song, i think i found out Loch Lomond was in scotland when i visited it in 1987, you shouldn't make assumptions, and i think you'll find Irish music has a far greater global reach than Sottish.
Im scotish and in school we got tought the meaning of this song the story goes two scotish men were cought by the english and one was married he wrote the song ang gave it to the non married guy cos he was being let go and said u take th high road ill take the low road and ill be in scotland befor u

fucking epic, written in 1745, what an interpretation, don't normally post thoughts on sites but this has to be 1 of the most uplifting songs i've ever heard
This has to be the best song ever? Whenever it gets played at the end of a Ceilidh, dance, dj set, or any kind of gathering event. There is never a soul left off the dancefloor. Dont think of the cities, think of the highlands. Scotland is a lovely place.
I am English. I am 15. I have no interest in Scotland or Scottish history. I would LOVE to have been in that crowd!! A beautiful song from a magnificent band!!
I lift a glass to my fellow scots tonight and i dream of times to come when Scotland will Qualify for a national football competition and i send a warning to the rest of the world ther is naething like us !!!!!!!!! Freedom to all of Scotland- I love you all.
@TheSabremesh If we have no sense of humour, then why the fuck was Frankie Boyle being targeted by an English based campaign to get him off air because of his awesome jokes that were 'too offensive' for the English audience.
@TheSabremesh You know, despite your stuck-up, pompus attitude and the way you all act like you're so superior to us Scots, we still choose to try and act nicely to you people. I don't know why, you're all retarded assholes who have nothing better to do than comment on Scottish videos just to feel important. Now either shut yer mouth and enjoy this amazing music or bugger off back to your chav infested hole you limey godshite.
@TheSabremesh Fair point but...i would rather be that than a roman, norman, whoever the fuck else conquered your pussy ass nation, mixed up no idea what my national identity is fuckwit... like yourelf! Thats why YOUR coutry is in chaos....you have no idea who the fuck you actually are....for all our faults at least we do. Now crawl back into your council estate run by 'insert ethnic minority here' and watch some countdown to ease the pain whilst sipping on a nice cup of earl grey......plonker
@tommytherig1981 Hey, I undestand there is an argument here, but there is no need to use language like "plonker" ;) In all seriousness, please don't let this guys views reflect on the rest of England. I'm living in Scotland right now, and I have nothing but respect for everyone. They are the most fun people to be around.
Did Donnie run for Parliament on a Labour Party ticket? It would be kinda cool if he did - Mick Jagger was actively recruited in the 1960s to run for a safe Labour seat and become a party leader. (He didn't for a variety of reasons - main one being that he preferred "brown sugar" to political power.) If he had run, he might have been PM instead of his friend Tony Blair. Anyway, did Donnie run for MP?
Talk about waving your cultural flag...a Scottish band, the core of which are native gaelic speakers from the Hebrides, playing a 250 year old Scottish song to an audience of wildly enthusiastic young Scots...BRILLIANT! Sad to see that 31 people got lost on the 'low road'.
2002 Wales vs Scotland! Bill Mclarens last game commentating. The whole crowd sang Loch Lomond and He's A Jolly Good Fellow for Bill. Backed by a Welsh Choir. Cant hear either song now without getting goosebumps or getting tears in my eyes
Wow those firewords at the end nearly got the tears started!:P Brilliant song that never fails to get me pumped up, this should be the national anthem:P
this song makes me proud to be scottish got played at each of my kids 21st birthday parties as a last song and i always end up crying ..... i can see loch lomond and ben lomond from my window its all on my door step love it :)

Its so good you have that with your dad, big respect, Did you know Donnie, was such a stipid wee lassie he went and was a Labour candidate, in the western isle, what a traitor girl, but he did, i have absolute respect for you and your father, but donnie is a joke and will always die trying not to be
Respond to this video...scotland tends to play with the soul like that , i remember up the earn as a kid n montrose basin n ferry beach , as much i know england has beauty , there can only be one place for a scot , and thats in his ane true land !
My dad was at this concert before I was born. I've only heard it once on the radio ever. And that one time was when me and him were in the car, it was I think the only time I've ever seen him break down and cry. I don't live in Scotland anymore but by god, when I listen to this I'm back there with him, on they long summer days, on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
I was in Scotland last year and we heard this song. Of course we'd heard it before, but it was nice to hear it as we actually toured the bonny banks of Loch Lomond. 31 people are racist basterds who don't know what music is & don't know how brave & awesome scotland is RIP WILLIAM WALLACE WHO FREED US SCOTS FROM THOSE ENGLISH CUNTS!
Im training hard to be a good MMA fighter, but Im swedish. But if I make it I will have this song to be my entrancesong. Its so beautiful, and powerful and so perfectly amazing and it fills me up with energy! And I FUCKING love it!!!!
I am a musician of sorts and have been lucky enough to play some great gig. However, if asked to choose, this would be the gig i would have played above any other. The venue, the crowd, the band and musicianship. They must have been high for days after this. Wonderful song, wonderful occasion, I love it.
A mighty Scottish Song sung by a great Scottish singer/band. See an Irish Choir sing Jonathan Quick's beautiful arrangement of Loch Lomond on Youtube Pfizerpfonics.
Donnie Monroe was the best Runrig excelled with him singing, no one will replace him. Long live Donnie and I wish at some point he will return to the band
Song reminds me of my daddy...he would sing this song when we were in the fields digging potatoes!! the mounds were rows some were high and some were planted low. LOL Gosh that was 40 yrs ago!! Thanks for sharing!
im engaged to a wonderful woman from scotland.........aberdeen..the most wonderful person i have ever met on this planet, and i am 1/2 brazilian and 1/2 irish..so there ya go..god i love you elaine!!!!
Absolutely whow - can't get this song out of my head!I am not scottish, but everytime I hear this song - I wish I would be ...since we have been on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond ;-))) with a whole bunch of midges :-)))) unfortunately... but still impressive!
one of the best songs ever and makes the hair stand up on my neck when i here it anywhere . i just want to bounce listening to this fab song and im very proud to be scottish xxx

Schade das Runrig sich hier nicht wenigstens die Mühe mit einem authentischeren

I am a musician of sorts and have been lucky enough to play some great gig. However, if asked to choose, this would be the gig i would have played above any other. The venue, the crowd, the band and musicianship. They must have been high for days after this. Wonderful song, wonderful occasion, I love it.
