The script was a bigger problem than Will Smith. I liked the fight scenes though. The guys who played Liston & Frazier actually looked like the fighters. The Foreman actor was OK besides looking fat like old bald Foreman.

Great movie. Ali was the best sport personalities of all time, not the best fighter or heavyweight of all time. He was very carismatic therefore a little overrated as a fighter. He beat Liston and there is a lot of doubt about those two fights.

Icons cannot be replicated ... so that's why movies about them don't do these icons justice and most of the time fail to satisfy. I nodded off a few times watching this movie. Documentaries and actual footage of the real Ali always trump any scene with Will Smith in "Ali" ... EVEN THOUGH you couldn't cast a better fit/thespian, anywhere, than Will Smith to try to portray a Muhammad Ali.
