A beautiful museum piece. We know that hedonism among the youth of the 60s kept them from truly affecting any positive social change, and thus allowed the powers that be to continue raping the world and enslaving its people. Any dangerously truthful revolutionary performance piece would never get on corporate media whore David Letterman's show. Case in point, Bill Hicks' last appearance. It took 15 years and lots of pressure from comedians to get Letterman to show that censored act.
@0broadwayismydream0 at the end the stage is free for the audience, they encourage as many people as possible to come on stage. what I enjoyed abt the whole musical is the way the cast would run into the audience, their performance wasnt just restricted to the stage. I feel sad the show is coming to an end in London this september. I guarantee u, u will enjoy it.
i REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE AUDIENCE DID NOT GIVE THEM A STANDING OVATION.They must have been stunned motionless with the greatness of this performance. I'm with Leterman on this one "How about that, TREMENDOUS."
@oceanview211 I think maybe they weren't expecting to have anybody interact like that with them. They thought they were just going to chuckle at David Letterman and then they got to be part of an amazing performance! :)
The cast of Hair is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! The PERSONALITIES portrayed, the TALENT, the VOCAL GIFTS are MIRACULOUSLY AWESOME. They are ANNOINTED to SING!!! AWESOME, I SO LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember seeing the original in 8th grade. Our teacher got us backstage and we met some of the cast. I hope it runs for 10 years so I might get to see it again if I am in America. Great job....
Great! As poignant today was it was in the 60's, if not more so. Today, with the dawning of a new era in the USA, maybe, not to sound too sugary, the sun is shining in a bit more, in some ways> Though we have so far to go! Bravo!
@ferrierepc Absolutely. Beautifully put. The message is still the same as then: PEACE and LOVE. But we humans beings still never quite get there, do we? Ironic that history has turned the page in such a way that we're now in a war so strikingly similar to what they were protesting then.
@Rainbowskye1968 Thank you! Indeed, "times, they 'aren't' a changin'"! HAIR/VIETNAM/PROTESTS will always go together, but it is the Civil War w/ states that want to keep federal laws out and are forming militias in case the 'evils' of universal medicine and such, try to creep in that scare me. I see secession (sic), not rebelious young people raising thier voices. This is scary for me. Again, although HAIR will always be Vietnam, it is the Civil War I see on our horizons. Sorry for serious tone.
@sarmadasco Once again, you're sadly correct,my friend. I've heard some of the same things from them.."watering the tree of liberty", they're calling it-- code words for CIVIL WAR!!! Who they HELL are they planning to fight against this time?? Are they advocating for "The Blue and the Gray, PART ll?" Absolutely DISGUSTING!!!
Before this cast gets too much older, I hope someone will make another movie version (i.e., one that Rado would approve of, unlike the 1979 version).

oh, well, it was still an amazing performance anyway.
