  • the best. noone's been able to take what he did and do anything different with it, because he did it all. the rest art talented, but denny dent is a Genius.

  • I saw him do 5 paintings at a show in Dayton, Ohio about 10 or 15 years ago. It was a great to watch!

  • If you want to buy his art work go to the gold & pawn shop in las vegas.

  • A dent knaw sayen?

  • Haha he sounds like rocky balboa, awesome artist though

  • I am in complete awe of Denny Dent! I wish I had gotten to experience this live because I have a feeling this man had "IT" and you didn't just get to see what he was doing; but, you could almost feel what he's doing. Just amazing!

  • Denny Dent is the man, he is awesome and in my opinion the best speed painter, not only cuz hes the original but cuz his style is so raw and natural, i mean david garibaldi and dan dunn are amazing, but their style just kinda looks practiced compared to Dennys style. Denny looks like its first try no warm ups jus all natural, him and david are my idols

  • Denny is without a doubt the master. Dan Dunn saw his act and is now one of the leading speed painters in the world. I love how he always gives Denny credit for being his inspiration, even though they never worked together. Dan waited until Denny passed before putting his act on stage. I would love to own a Denny Dent piece. Tour Manager for Paintjam. RIP Denny Dent, you are the master.

  • Denny!s message is true . He told me it's not what you do it's how you do it. Nicest and most inspirational guy I met.

  • He could do the best illegal street art. All he'd have to do is run around with an ipod and two paint brushes.

  • Wow! Awesome. Original. Passion. Rock-on Denny!

  • He was my inspiration to draw in the 80's. I can't get enough of his talent.

    R.I.P. Mr Dent.

  • Balls, they look shit

  • I have been looking for this!!! I am stoked thank you!!!!

  • omg amazing! he just lets go of himself and let his hands do all the work! ahh such fluidity and freedom.

  • Can someone name all the songs and their musicians in this video?

  • jumpin' jack flash -the rolling stones Layla - eric clapton pride(in the name of love) - u2 fire - jimi hendrix instant karma - john lennon break on through - the doors born to run - bruce springsteen (some classical pieces) are you gonna go my way - lenny kraviz signed, sealed, delivered - stevie wonder when doves cry - prince imagine - john lennon

  • *Great video but see "THE ROOM"by Tommy Wiseau!AWESOME

**DISCOVER "The Room MOVIE" by Tommy Wiseau! IT"s FUN!**

  • I wonder how much that painting costs?

  • Denny is the original, all the others who try to do what he does are just memerex...See a lot of people who were inspired by Denny and and tried to copy what he started.(making ca$h on other people's ideas.Kinda like the rap music.)The song at 4:10 is Lenny Kravitz " Are you gonna go my way" Peace. Scotty B.

  • @RunningBearStudios how strange that I read lenny Kravitz in your comment the second it came on.

  • at 4:10, whta song is that?

  • Hb35Jazz is right! it is the riff from the Lenny Kravitz tune "Are you gonna go my way" which you can find on here but for some reason it won't let me post the blasted link for you!!

  • Lenny Kravitz " Are you gonna go my way"

  • he is amazing

  • this is a very interesting thing to think about.

  • AWESOME! What is the song called, that is played when he is painting Jimi Hendrix? :)

  • purple haze :)

  • you mean at like 2:50?

    "Fire"

  • No :P I asked my guitar teacher, who told me it was Lenny Kravitz - "Are u gonna go my way" :P

  • uhh, no

  • At 4.13 :P

  • oh, didnt watch the whole thing

  • I'm sorry mate. I just put a thumb down by accident on your answer which is of course the right one. Can two people put a thumb up on this answer please ;)

  • Saw him as a student in 1995 at my University. Best money I ever spent. I think it was 3 bucks. Will never have another Denny Dent

  • In the 1980's I would book Denny at my club (At My Place) in Santa Monica. He would come on stage as an opening act (the headliner's equipment would be covered in tarp) put on the music of a performer and within the length of the song, would turn out a wonderful painting of the performer (I have his painting of John Lennon hanging in my community) which he would then auction to the audience.

He was a genuine and humble man - and as you can see from his videos, he gave his all.

There is a hole in the world now that he's no longer on the planet. Let us all pass along his 'Art Attack' philosophy and be the artists of our lives and passions! Viva Denny!!

  • When I was a student at Columbia Basin College in Pasco WA in the late '80's, my lecture chairperson, Esther, and I hired him to do a lunchtime event at the college. I think he sort of fell in love with Esther (at least momentarily) because he let us video record his whole show. He gave us three of the four pieces he did and I ended up with two of them.

  • I've got a Denny Dent "Bob Marley" that I'm thinking about selling -- drop me a line if interested.

  • I was able to see him also in the late 80's at SEMO and also at a Student Activities Convention in Ft. Wayne. When he came to SEMO we took him out to dinner after his show and he was a riot. He donated two pictures to the SAC and I had the opportunity to buy one back then but I was a poor college student. Wish I knew then what I do now.

  • I saw him live at Chico State in the late 80's. I will never forget his painting of Jimmy Hendrix. He painted it upside down without telling anyone. By the end, everyone in the audience was kinda lost. Then he turned it upside down and the place went absolutely NUTS! It was amazing. I'm sorry to see he's gone, I'll have to see if I can find a painting on ebay.

  • Denny dent was amazing. His talent went beyond just his Art Attack paintings.

Those who knew him will miss him.

    He was brilliant

  • i saw this guy when i was young on something like letterman or some other talk show.he's good i wish i had some kind of talent.he;s like the guy on pbs with the fuzzy fro on acid they both make it look so easy

  • Denny Dent performed at UMR in the 80s. (SUB) Student Union Board kept one of the paintings. It was hanging on the wall in the SUB office well into the late 90s. I think someone got tired of looking at it and tossed it. What a waste, what do you expect for a bunch of engineers from the midwest!

  • I really miss Denny. He was my mentor and a great friend. I feel honored to be his only student.

  • could you give me some more information about him. I am writting a paper about him and would love to have some more personal knowledge.

    thanks

  • Loved this guy. We saw him a couple of times at the Cherry Creek Art Fest in Denver before he passed. I remember asking my wife if she thinks we could have him come over and do one of of our walls. Nice thought she said, but no. I agree, he was the best, others can only imitate.

  • Amazing - saw him on a PBS special, and Dent was an absolute genius. Never got the chance to see him perform his art live - wish I had.

  • The Master of paint rock!

  • He is an awsome dad.... i should know i am his daughter... he will always be missed.... i love you.. Briana

  • dennydentdotcom

I believe Denny was the original. He opened many shows at AT MY PLACE in Santa Monica, some while I was playing with saxophonist Richard Eliott.

Brian Olsen was Denny's protege, check him out on Youtube too. There are quite a few guys copying Denny's act, with varying degrees of real originality.

    Pencil sketched prior to painting.

  • How did you know Denny?? He wa s my Dad.. and yes he is the original of this perticular type of painting... i cant believe its already been 3 years since he died

  • wow you must be proud ...that man was amazin......can you do it too?

  • He's missed by many. I'm a bit PO'd that others have chosen to claim this style as their own and some have twisted it into a money making sideshow. *sigh*

I was lucky enough to get a promotional video and showed it to the students in our school. That video has been shown every year by the art teacher because she loves it when Denny says, "Whatever you do, do it with all your heart."

Denny was the master and his passion lives on. I miss him too.

  • LMAO. I agree 100% Always imitated, never duplicated.

  • if you think rock is dead, your just too old.

    rock on dent.

  • fabulous!

it's rock and rool and art.

  • great!! fabulous!!!

  • AWESOME!

  • after watching this I realized rock is dead!

  • He really rocks!

  • Mr. Dent,

Your message has given breath to my instruments and I wish you the best in your journey on the other side.

    May you rock in peace!

  • i live in room/house denny dent grew up in... he rocks
