  • Thank you for the videos! Good stuff, khop khun ka! Dza phayayaam rian phasaa thai ka.

  • Thank you. But I suspect there are situations where it isn't used. eg cops and criminals.

  • once you get to thailand [ the greatest country in the world ] it becomes much easier to speak thai as you will here words and phrases that you have learnt being spoken around you - remember the tones are most important ie the sentence who sells chicken eggs is all the same word in thai the only way to make sense is in the tone - also the word gow or cow again depends on tone as the word means 9 different things including : rice enter white no.9 etc

  • @bphaiteeo oh! I thought Ireland was the greatest country in the world :)

  • @irish66 yes of course ireland is the greatest country - i dont know what i was thinking saying thailand was the greatest - please excuse me

  • @bphaiteeo lol. How about we share the title :)

  • @irish66 perfect idea i absolutely love your attitude way to go !

  • @bphaiteeo thanks for the wonderful laugh on this dry but cold friday morning. Well I think that's what the weather is. I'm still in the bed.

  • for every phrase do you have to end with krub/ka? or just hello?

  • @sportgirl202 It is prefered to end every sentence with kha/khub. This had to do with a formal issue and showing respect. If you don't end your sentences with kha/khub, it is considered rude.

However, it is not necessary amongst friends, but it is definitely a must when speaking to strangers and older people.

  • @aifusatiluj yes, i agree. I go a thai massage, and have become good friends with owner and girl working there.

I said hello, good afternoon to the girl, the way indicated in video. she told me that Sawadeekrap was the right way.

My question. When do you say krap/krub

if i say hello, good afternoon. how are you?

Do i say krap/krub at the when I'm finished speaking ie at the end of how are you?, or at end of first sentence ie Good afternoon.

  • @irish66 It is prefered to end EVERY sentence with kha/khub, so not just when you are finished speaking. It is considered respectful and polite. So, it would be: "Hello kha/khub. How are you kha/khub? What have you been up to kha/khub?"

  • Instead of good Morning, good Afternoon, good evening, etc just greet with Sawadeeka (female) Sawadeekrap (male) or just sawadee...Is good enough :)

  • When Thai meet other people, Thai men just greet "Sa-Wud-Dee, Krub" while women speak "Sa-Wud-Dee, Ka". If you greet following this vdo, you would make Thai smiling because it is weird. Thai unlikely emphasis the time important such morning, afternoon, evening or even night.

    Sa-Wud-Dee = Hello or Hi

Krub = polite ending word spoken by men

Ka = polite ending word spoken by women

    I am 100% Thai.

  • i'm going to thailand in about 3 weeks i'm screwed hahahhaha

  • i want download all this . where i can download ?

  • damn! is very difficult to memorize all.... i think the best way to learn thai is to find a thai girl friend

  • @camandthai sure ! you're welcome :D

  • @SKRIBANTO Just "Sa-wat-di" with a sincere smile is the best greeting for any time. Don't forget to end every sentence with "krap" or "kha".

  • @camandthai you're welcome xD have you seen Crazy Little Thing Called Love ? it's really a great movie :D

  • @camandthai you're lucky. I'm filipino and I love thailand people :)

  • Good

  • Y is it hello not goo

  • My husband is Thai, so I am learning so I can communicate with his parents and sister's who don't speak english. Till I get Rosetta Stone, I will use this.

  • because Thai people dont sleep they say sawasdee khap hehe,, I love Thailand, and i want to learn Thai pasa

  • I wanna go to thai and say hi to baifern :)) ( whooo!! BAIFERN!!!)

hahaha anyway, how do you spell hello in thai? is it sawadee ka? sawaddee ka? sawatdii ka? it's kinda confusing xD

  • ใครเขาสวัสดีตอนเช้า ตอนบ่าย ตอนเย็นกัน

    สวัสดี จบ

  • แง่มๆๆ - - เหมือนเราเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ ฮ่าๆ

  • I'm Thai. I can say that no Thai people really speak "Good morning," "Good afternoon," "Good evening," and "Good night." All these words are newly-invented and used only in translation from the Western languages to Thai language.

  • @cbunming if you don't use these phrases then what you say?

  • @turng "Sa-wat-di" at any time, for both greeting and leaving. (no distinction between "hello" and "good bye") If you know how Hawaiians use the word "Aloha", you'll get this easily.

  • thai is soo hard =(

  • the guy speaking must be german, im 100% sure xD

  • If i heard anyone good morning in thai i would call them a fag XD

  • learn thai is so easy! cuz i was born in Thailand lol

  • yeah this is good i need to study this more

  • wow i just learn some thai words

  • This is great as it breaks down every sentence in Thai and its litteral translation to English. I subbed you! :))

  • Thank you <3 I want 2 understand thai :P I hope it does not take so very long time ^^

  • i'm thai,i think in thai social we dont mind about the position of sun in the sky so the pharse GOOD MORNING , GOOD AFTERNOON, GOOD EVENING,GOOD NIGHT that can say just SAWADDI ( krub / ka ) when they meet each other.

  • @prathan23312 I think that's the same everywhere. I'm Australian and our time based greetings are rarely used.

  • I agree. I've never heard anyone say good morning/afternoon/ night. But some say "fun dee" meaning dream good though.

  • @prathan23312

i think those starter phrases are just to get used to saying

thai. because honestly, even in america or europe, people

will just say 'morning' or 'hi' not like ' good afternoon

    or 'good night'. lolz

  • khawp khun for these vids, very very helpful thankyou very much.

  • wuah loe it!

  • wow...yay!!! i hope it doesn't take me long to understand Thai :)
