DO NOT USE KRYLON FUSION I tried paiting all black once and then all red after trying the black multiple times. I took several weeks on this project and krylon fusion does not do a consistent spray. it shoots big drops of paint! stick with rustoleum and use primer. Krylon fusion is SHIT!

Adhesion promoter and primer are not the same thing. Other than that, this is a decent guide for using rattle cans.

Ive done controllers and fixed rrod and e74. I had a controller buiessnes and I don't recommend it. I messed all my controllers up learning and one persons cus I over heated the contact. Another had both left and right triggers!!! It worked too! But he had elite xbox so it was a fail. Jist Is mod yours and friends for cost

Videos like this are very helpful and informative, but they never seem to touch on more obscure (But important) topics, like whether or not painting the case can clog the air vents, or whether or not it's recommended to remove the metal plate attached to the one side. What are the best ways to tape parts of the faceplate, or remove them, etc. I've figured a lot of this out on my own, but it's uncommon information to see addressed.

As far as I can tell the Items needed are:

400 Grit Sandpaper

Latex no powder gloves

Adhesion Promoter

Krylon Fusion (for plastics)

2000 Grit sandpaper (for wet sanding)

Rust-oleum specialty lacquer

@speachhammer if your doing light coats, the air vents shouldn't clog up, however if you do heavy coats it could. thats why they always say to use a series of light coats

4)Primer:

Paint:

1) 1 light coat let dry 15 minutes 2) 1 coat let dry 15 minutes 3)Wet Sand 2000 grid Sand Paper 4) Wash it + Dry 5)Final coat 6) Let Dry

5) Glossy Lacker:

1) Light Coat let dry 3minutes 2)Final Coat 3) Let dry 28-48 Hours

There is a video explaining this in the "Suggested videos" section on this page, but to summarize, you can cut the melted plastic off, do your work, and use a dab of hot glue to secure them again once you're done. I haven't done it, but I have no reason to think it wouldn't work. My only concern is the heat from the Xbox affecting it, but the faceplate doesn't get that hot due to its location.

@slimdiggie yes that would work, i have done it. However they are tempermental when taking them apart and some will not work without having the game reading Pins re soldered, but as long as they arent moved too much, the NES would be fine.

I've seen most of your other vids. Supposedly case mods now like installing new fans will get you banned from xbox live. Any truth in this? I wanna put the XCM fans in my 360, the one you stick on the back with a screen and mod my case to where you can see the insides and the fans blue lights will show. Any help on the ban issue?

@Dp908 No XBL has no way of monitoring what you have in your console to ban you, now yes the new dash update is to crack down on piracy mods but a fan no paint no they cannot monitor how much power you are using no way possible i just finished up a mod on the console im using now XCM dual fan, nitro one in the back modded ring of light i was playin modern warfare 2 lastnight no prob. so mod away my friend

I'm just going to mod a 90mm case fan into the top of the case right over the heatsink with a green LED, and then I'm going to cut a hole on the otherside over the DVD drive and put lexan glass under it like you did. The fan will be run off of USB power, and ran through the system out the back to the wireless adaptber USB. Any tips on modding the DVD Drive like you did in your other vids to see the disk spinning?

Microsoft took all of that time making AP 2.5 and adding it to their drives just to get it hacked within weeks! Proof - LT Plus 1.1. I feel kinda bad for Microsoft xD! @Dp908 The only thing they accan detect in your console is JTagging. Fans, LED's, are ll fine. The only thing I would NOT do for a LVIE console is jtagging, unles you only plan on using it for one night, and if you do, jtag your heart out! Your fine though.

I was at my dads job today ( hes a car painter) and he painted a car bumper (made of plastic) and he did this. Sand it with 600, primer, sand that with 600, paint 3-4 coats and it comes out glossy and all nice. Could I do the exact same thing to my xbox? I want to use his car paint. Would that work out well?

now i seen a couple things i didnt quite agree with..

1. the Krylon is supposed to cure for 7 days. the reason being is that before it can still be soft before then.

2. you cannot use a laquer clearcoat on an alkid based paint like krylon. you can run the risk of ruining all your work with cracking and chipping.

LOL! Using spray paint from walmart isnt the right way to paint anything your wanting professional results on...You have the right concept just not the right products...Also there is no sense in letting base dry over night or clear for 3 days then setting in the sun.

@silverbullit lol yes there is, thew longer you let it set the better EXPECAILLY with controllers, your sweat will wear that down so fast if its not completely cured. and also its not a walmart made product, its krylong, a professinol paint that you can pick up at lots fo places, walmart just happens to also sell it.
