  • does anyone know the song at the end of this video? i love it

  • What a wonderful young man. Can't believe it's been 2 years ago that he passed away. Rest in peace, Rodger.

  • Rodger, you seemed like such a sweet, genuine, really fun and intelligent man. I wish I had come across your videos before you were cruelly taken from your loved ones and future opportunities. Thank you for the time and effort you put into sharing your amazing experiences with the world. I've been in the process of making 1000 paper cranes to send to Hiroshima Peace Memorial. I will send them on your behalf, and in your memory. A part of you will always be in Japan. Rest in peace, sweetheart.

  • That ice cream looks like a penis lol.

  • Dang that's crazy I did not know he passed away. It is sad that good people die so young, but I bet he enjoyed every minute of his life.

  • Until next time, friend.

  • I recently found your videos Roger, and watched a dozen before I read some of the comments wishing you the best. I hope others watch your videos, are inspired in their own lives to do something special and to grow, experience the world with the same gusto and humbleness that you brought.

  • For those who don't know what happenend. Rodger died on jan 27th (jan26th in the states) in Hanamaki Japan of internal bleeding into the abdominal cavity caused by acute pancreatitis.

  • Rodger Swan I enjoyed your videos, you seamed to be a good, kind man who lived well and cared about others. It makes me sad to hear your time in this world was very short, but I hope you are happy now wherever you are. May the God and the Goddess bless you and rest in peace.

  • Wow, this guy looks like Rivers Cuomo... RIP.

  • You know Rodger lived a great life. He lived his dream and he was only in his early 20's. Most people can't say that in their 60's. I pray I can meet you on heaven one day Rodger swan. RIP

  • Hehehe 5:36... RUPERT... Thought you could get away with that left hand nose wipe did you? Busted

  • Rodger has inspired me with his videos to take an exchange trip to Japan next year for a semester to study. I wish to follow in his footsteps and produce an insightful video blog as Rodger has and I hope you guys will enjoy them in the future!

  • :'( why do good people die? :'(

  • God bless him, genuinely nice guy

  • Bless Iwate Swan. Good by my friend!!

  • How he die???

  • @Kawp123 I want to know that too. lol

  • I just found your channel the other day and I'm already brought to tears by this video. You seemed like a wonderful person, and your Japan videos make me laugh. RIP

  • R.I.P Rodger.

Even though I didn't start watching your videos untill recently, they were good reviews of good movies.

  • Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. Rodger will never be gone. He will always live in the hearts of the people he touched and he will reach many more through his videos. RIP Rodger

  • I've been watching swan's vids since the begining. i've watched as this guy changed and grew from a very shy vlogger to a real videographer. he has shown the best side of japan. he made people want to go on trips and especially want to make teachers teach there. his vids were always insightful and inspiring. whoever made this vid did an awesome job! Tokyo Swan, Iwate Swan, Roger Swan.. u will be greatly missed!! u have entertained, influenced and inspired others in your short life!

  • Hey Rodger, I miss you! I miss waiting for your videos everyday. I'll see you in Heaven. I promise.

  • I was really impressed this and other videos by Roger. Rest in peace.

  • Rest in Peace.

  • I actually never knew anything about him. I'm fairly new to the J Vlogging community. But I wanted to pay my respects to his family. I'm sorry that this happened. May he rest in peace.

  • R.I.P Rodger, your videos were really great.Thank you for sharing them with us, you got me to watch a lot of really cool films. We will miss you.

  • R.I.P. Roger. You are missed.

  • I only clocked in now and then to see his videos. What happened? Did he die in Japan of a pancreatic illness? I just this week went to check on his videos and found out he died. Such a sweet man...I hope some other guy or gal felt the depth of this love cuz it seems he had a lot to share. So sad....and somewhat glad he did not see the destruction of a place he loved. I lived in Sendai for 2 years in the 90s. I have loved his videos...oh my.....

  • Rodger, so many wonderful words to describe him. He was always so energetic and kind to all and that's what made me look forward to his next video, hoping that it would come soon. I can say that I have watched every one of his videos for the most part and I have been touched in the greatest way. I've been inspired to do go out and try so many things due to him and all I can say is thank you for touching so many hearts. Please rest in peace, and watch over everybody during this time of crisis.

  • ho god! I WILL MISS U!

  • rip rodger you were a great man...Now to my questoin, at about 2:08... why does he put the camer close to his body and lower it when he says "theres a car"...is recording illigal?

  • I miss his videos....

  • The most beautiful part about his life, and these videos, is that no matter how much time goes by, people will still discover him, and meet him, and get to know him, and the life he lived. He didn't find the fountain of youth, he found the secret to immortality. Even though I never got to meet him personally, I'm thankful to have these videos, that let me get to know his spirit, even if he's gone. On that note, so long Rodger. We will see you next time.

  • amazing montage at the end. his videos have inspired to learn japanese and live among japanese culture. he was always so positive and loved what he did. RIP

  • I had been watching rodgers videos for almost a year and then i stopped for a while. I saw that the recent earthquake and tsunami had hit iwate Japan and said let me check and see if Rodger's ok. I find this video and find out that hes been dead for almost a year. Very sad i barely have words to describe it. He seemed like a very good person and he will be missed

  • I came across his channel just a few hours ago, when I looked for Shenmue videos and found his video in which Roger explores the region that game was inspired by.

It saddens me that he had to pass away so soon. Gonna check out all his videos now.

  • I am very happy to see this last video, but I am also very sad of what happened at Iwate prefecture caused by the tsunami... I am sure Rodger is taking care of all the people that suffered at this prefecture

  • very sad seeing his last video :/

and seeing iwate long before they had to deal with this tragedy over the last few days. i hope they are all recovering well. as other have said, it would have been tough for him to see japan go through all of this. rest in peace

  • Still miss you roger swan im sad you are gone but im glad you are not here to see what happened to your beautiful Iwate i think you would have been devastated by the destruction its a mess Japan could use a guy like you right now .

    Peace man (=

  • I think some people are gifted enough to accomplish everything they need to at a young age R.I.P.

  • Hope Rogers looking down from heaven on japan and hoping for their quick recovery. No, I know that's what he's thinking.

  • When I heard about the earthquake in Japan today I couldn't help but think of Rodger and Iwate swan. I was surprised with this final video of his when I logged into my account. Prayers to Japan and Rodger.

  • i just found this channel and i have no idea about anything, how did rodger die?

  • @8Mile546 u can read that in he's channel description

  • Bedankt voor de mooie videos over Japan. Ik ben zelf ook een groot fan van japan. Ik las gisteren pas dat je er niet meer bent. Op dit moemt voel im me zeer verdrietig. rust in vrede....

  • man i still cant believe your gone...

  • R.I.P Rodger :(

  • Rodger, I did not know who you were until it was too late to ever be able to meet you. You have touched my life so much and gave me hope for myself and my epic move to Tokyo, Japan. I live every day for you and I appreciate what I have because your life was torn away from you far too soon. I hope to have my own J-Vlog up. No one could ever replace you but I hope to do you proud!

  • your videos are so great, ive watched every single Iwate Swan, you cover life and every daily occurance so well. You also added humour without perhaps even intending to as you had a natural gift to make people feel good and like each and every one of us knew you. You were Inspired by TokyoSwan but let me just say your videos are far, far better and of a much higher caliber. You will be missed and you are my personal inspiration to travel and live in Tokyo!

  • @jtpf87 IwateSwan WAS TokyoSwan

Thank you Rodger, you were an inspiration. Because of you, i'm now going to bite the bullet and apply to JET in September. I hope to live my dream just as you did.

  • he's a great person.. r.i.p rodg :) i loved ur vids

  • :(

  • RIP Swan,

    Gone but not forgotten

  • Well this..sucks. I subscribed to this guy a long time ago for his japanese horror movie reviews, and then he started doing some other videos about his experience in japan. I watched several of them and sort of lost interest after a while. I just now saw this one posted and though, "I wonder what he's been up to". I had no idea he had passed. He seemed like a great person, it's unfortunate that people like him go so early.

  • Never knew Rodger, and I only started watching his videos just before the end. I think it's awesome that he will always be immortal on Youtube, and connected to his love of Japan.

  • Thank you for the videos. You're still my favorite person on youtube! I miss you Rodger.

  • The Swan has spread his wings, and is finally flying. What a beautiful send-off for not just a beautiful person, but a friend and teacher. I feel happy for Rodger, he died peacefully, in a place he loves, having spent his final days enjoying himself in the company of his best friend, eating great food, visiting interesting places, and making videos. I don't think anyone could ask for a neither better way to finish their time in this world, nor a better memorium of such appreciation as this. :)

  • @Mike209000 Indeed. I know that's a boring answer, but you've pretty much said what's on my mind. He was lucky. Lucky to be able to see the places that he wants and experience what he wants. Not alot of people have to guts to do something like that.

  • I only just found out, I am quite sad he is gone but thankful I was able to enjoy his views. RIP

  • Thanks for these videos. Does Rupert have a channel?

  • Thank you so much for sharing the last videos that your son created. I only hope that when I make it over to Japan once I finish my college degree that I have half as much fun as he had over there.

  • Thank you for this final video. Thank you for all the memories.

  • Thank you for uploading the last video, I'm glad i met him, although i never met him in real life, i know he was a great guy. RIP

  • Always loved your videos (these ones and the horror reviews). Miss them. Thanks, Rodger.

  • Thank you very much for upload the last video 3/3 of this series, its always fun see Rodger enjoy the life in this videos, thank you to the family to led us enjoy one more time to see part of his life. Im sure ppl around this world enjoy like me, every moment all the videos he make, the smile, the details in the videos, etc, was really special, i salute from Costa Rica to all Rodger´s fan, rest in peace.

I hope everyone enjoy the life, like Rodger do in life.

  • Does Rupert have a channel?

    R.I.P. Roger.

  • I was almost brought to tears when I saw a new video from Rodger when I logged on. Rodger was such a good person... He really just exuded goodness. I look up to him like no one else! I'll miss him, even though I've never even met him... I hope his family and friends are coping well... God bless!

    R.I.P. Swan /:

  • Still so weird to think that Rodger is gone. RIP! I've been enjoying these video's. Love Rupert's jacket. Go Lions! Lol that ice cream omg. Eating ice cream with chop sticks?? The ending was very touching. Wherever Rodger is now I hope he's happy and enjoying some ramen. :) See you next time Rodger. :)

  • Rest in peace, you've given so much to the world.

  • That's sad :(.

    Rest in Peace Rodger! :)

  • Rodger was such an inspiration and such a great, wonderfull guy. May he rest in peace.

  • its really sad to hear he's gone...

  • I understand Roger liked scary stories. This is one of the scariest films I've ever seen because we all know what happens next. I dare say Roger would be deeply amused by that.

  • RIP Rodger, I enjoyed your vids.

  • Thanks for uploading this! Again, it was bitter sweat. Good seeing Rubert again as well. Being a fellow Michigander, he truly represents! Can't believe its been only one year since Rodger's passing. Feels so much longer. I'll be back to watch more of his earlier vids again for sure.

  • I'm a university student who for as long as I can remember has been an avid anime/Japan lover, despite not looking the part. Come spring, I will be following my dream and visiting Japan with a friend. It was Rodger who showed me to follow my dream. It's a shame the world had to take away such an amazing person. Though true, I'm sure he would be happy to know just how many people he has touched. Though I never met you, I consider you a friend. R.I.P Rodger, you will be missed but never forgotten.

  • Just watching his love for Japan makes me want to work that much harder so I can get there as well.

    RIP.

  • It's amazing how watching these videos makes it seem like he was still with us. You could tell he loved the country so much, it's heartbreaking to know his time there came to an end so soon.

    Rest In Peace, Roger.

  • I miss you so much roger :(

  • Happy I got an official final episode. Glad I didn't have to live with the final one ending with "We'll see you next time". I've enjoyed watching the best j-vlogger on YouTube while you were here.

  • miss you so much, you are the portal to another world you know, need you more than anything when stress hit, keep posting please...

  • I have always been interested in Japan, but your passion and love shown through these videos has shown me more of what I love and I thank you for that.

All your videos long and short, entertaining or not, have always caught my eye.

I only started watching your videos a month ago, just proves that even though you are gone you are still become more known throughout You tube.

  • See you next time Rodger. We love you.

  • Rest In Peace Rodger. You were and are still such an inspiration to me.

  • Thank you very much for the video. And again Thank you very much to you, Rodger. We all miss you.

  • I know a song called '' Only the good die young'', and it's true...

  • Knowing that this is the last episode fills me with sadness but at the same time watching this one last episode makes me happy. Thank you for sharing it with us. Rest in peace, Rodger.

  • Thank you SO much for making these last 3 videos! It means a lot to me, and I'm sure the rest of his fans. I can't believe it's already been one year since he has left all of us. May he rest in peace, and may his family also have peace within themselves. I love you, Rodger. Thank you for giving us your insight on the Japanese culture. You did what you loved. You chased your dreams. What else more could you ask for?

  • Thank you for being such an inspiration Rodger, RIP. We will never forget you.

And thank you to his family for taking the time to post these last videos.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I can't beieve it has been a year. I started watching his videos around that time - he had such an instant charm that I ended up watching all of his Tokyo Swan videos in the period of a few days. He was definitely one of the good guys. With a great taste in films, may I add :)

  • That was really tough to watch but still made me smile, thank you to his family for uploading this. R.I.P Rodger.

  • I'm very thankful that Rodger's family and friends shared this with friends he never got to meet. I'm also thankful to Rodger for the chronicles of his life in Japan. I fell in love with Japan because of Shenmue. Rodger went to locations that were in the original Shenmue, therefore inspiring my love of Japan even further. He is one of the reasons I am attempting to learn the Japanese language.

  • Roger's videos have brought to my attention the wonders of both the urban and rural lifestyles of such a beautiful country. When I go to Japan one day I will go with the memories of such a great video maker.

  • god i miss you swan. why is it always the nice ones :( take soulja boy instead.

  • It was really wonderful to see some of the things Rodger got to experience before he passed. It still hurts so much to know that he's still gone.

  • Thanks for the memories, Rodger. :)

  • and this is where our journey ends. you had a good run swan, il miss you so much. one day i hope to say, we'll see you next time. R.I.P old friend.

  • Roger was the kind of person anyone would want as a friend. A great person--a great inspiration. I cried, too--at the montage.

I've been to Japan, (my wife is Japanese), so I can understand Roger's fascination with the country better than most. He did more than I can ever dream of. And he shared it with us.

  • Thank you so much for sharing with us.

  • Rodger not only you inspired me to go vist japan but you also inspired me to be A better man thank you.R.I.P Roger

  • Wow. That was a big bowl of sobu. Swan loved him some fried octopus balls.

  • watching his videos still makes me smile. R.I.P Rodger

  • Rodger has inspired me to major in Japanese. I hope to become a teacher like he was. RIP Rodger.

  • I started watching tokyocooney a couple years ago and got introduced to rodger swan about half way. At that time my friends and I watched all of the tokyo swan and iwate swan separately. When we heard he had died we were all devestated. But over the last 3 epsidodes alot of us have watched them together in memory of rodger swan. He was a good person and will be missed. No one can take his place in the j-vlogging community. RIP.

  • Well, what can i say, other than to echo the comments of others here, thank you for bringing this footage to light so that we can watch him one last time. Love to his family and to the man himself, you were awesome mate and you rocked that epic mustache till the end! Take it easy, wherever you are ^_^
