most of these comunist leaders i have studied are not as bad as the eivil power hungry dictators the us has put into our heads but even so with the potential to go bad i think its good communism is not as wide spread now
@darkruler527 I absolutely agree. Most of the leaders are made out to be cold-hearted killers. I am also glad that Soviet-brand Communism didn't spread. It deviated very far away from the original ideas Lenin set forth.
Revolutions are generally inspired by leftist ideas like Liberalism and so i dont get your point, American Revolution was inspired by the French Revolution which was Liberal.
Thank heaven someone had the presence of mind to record this exchange on early color videotape. This is not the oldest surviving color videotape, but it is pretty old.
In this period, Nixon behaved honestly within his own definitions of honesty and was probably not any more mentally ill than was Khrushchev or Kennedy.
Nixon probably would have made a better president in 1961-65 than he did later. Too many temptations, too many problems to snare him after 1968.
I see 6 people have thumbed down my comment. You know why Obama is not the new Kennedy? Because when he took office Kennedy wasn't the new anyone else, he was an original onto himself.
I hope obama istn a new Kennedy, if you are objective, HE ALMOST CAUSED WWIII, thats the fact, becuause he wanted to show his "BALLS" Civilization almost ended
We all love Kennedy because he was young, handsome, intelligent and supported civil rights. But what good would any of that have done if he had indeed succeeded in getting us all killed?
BTW, it was Bobby who saved the day during the Cuban Missile crisis - not John.
When Khrushchev was panicking and on the verge of kicking off a nuclear war, Bobby was the one who came up with the solution at the last minute - no one else.
Yes, John had the good sense to follow his brother's advice but I think just about anyone, even someone of only average intelligence, would have done the same b/c really, there was no other way out.
Which is okay with me, since I don't particularly feel like living through a crippling, decade-long depression.
And before anyone starts in on me...
I do know the New Deal was unable to completely end the depression, but it cut the unemployment rate in half, electrified the country and prevented a communist insurgency. Too bad no one seems to be grateful for it.
both parties know that each others words are bullshit, lol.

What has "better color television" gotten us?
We keep cancelling our "big rocket" projects, and don't even make color TV sets anymore.

Nixon could handle himself brilliantly at times. He was so intelligent and so talented.
What a shame that he was also a paranoid, authoritarian, reckless crook.

Did they? Please name your source because I'd be very interested.
PS Why do you have to assert that Americans "fail"?

Nixon was a paranoid crook. That's historical fact. Is that uncommon in politics? No. Was he the first? No. Was he the first to get caught? Yes.
wikiporno 3 years ago
well, actually kennedy got caught in the Bay of Pigs incident before Nixon's Watergate but nobody made a big deal about Kennedy.
wtg2989 2 years ago
Like I said, he wasn't the first paranoid crook, just the first to be caught.
wikiporno 2 years ago
I don't know how to explain this any more clearly... Kennedy DID get caught, he just got off easy.
wtg2989 2 years ago
Well ok, maybe people just let him off easy because his matyr status, and how damned popular he was.
wikiporno 2 years ago
If you were trying to type "martyr status" then let me clarify: He was caught in the Bay of Pigs a couple of years before his assassination.

John had to make the decision out loud to everybody.

openedup09, I'm not sure what you're getting at.

If anything, Obama seems to be a redux of FDR.
Which is okay with me, since I don't particularly feel like living through a crippling, decade-long depression.
