Every low notes is clear and perfectly supported, and that fortissimo G5 at 2:55 is one of the very few G5s who can match Mariah's ATYNAF G5s resonance-wise (the other ones are - besides Aretha's - Beverley Knight's G in Sista Sista and Monica Naranjo's Gs in Desatame)

It must be noted however, that part of the British quality that you hear in the voice of Adele descends/originates from historic white imitation of the traditional African American musical sound; I also said that I hear degrees and traces of the black sound in certain AREAS of Adele's voice, not that Adele sounds entirely black to me. Amy Winehouse on the other hand is a white woman that sounds positively black to me, and apparently to many others.

I think she likes to be called a little girl with a big voice, but it's just a fake. Sorry for my bad English

However now, almost 13 years later, Bey completely smashes Xtina as a vocalist. Talent is not all, hard work makes the difference.

Where Mariah's mellisma seamlessly blends into the melodies of her songs, Christina is just all over the place. @TheZenomeProject JoJo's vocal sound is a tad more on the 'pop' side in my opinion: I could never picture her comfortably and PROPERLY covering a Blues or Gospel song... that said, she could just as easily prove me wrong (I rather enjoy her voice, in fact). JoJo --- at least based on what MY ears are listening to --- is everything that "Xtina" vocally could and should have been in the late nineties and early 00s.

@TheZenomeProject In her debut album, she still lowered her larynx to make that big tone, but not too much. It means she didn't push the back of her tongue too deeply into the throat, so her voice was a little bit audible. You can clearly hear her signs of strain on low and mid notes and the loss of resonance in the B2B and Bionic album. And the single Last dance too. I think she likes to be called a little girl with a big voice, but it's just a fake. Sorry for my bad English

It's not the soundalikes that really get me, but the fact that it's easy to impersonate her tone, unlike, say, Mariah Carey's, which every Filipino karaoke star has tried and failed to replicate.

It's funny cause one would be hard pressed to make a video with Beyonce fuck ups for five minutes. I'm sure beyonce has made a few mistakes caught on tape, but its like searching for a needle in a haystack. I'll be fair to christina and admit her VOICE itself is very beautiful and touching, her technique is crap and her style is crap any time she goes to high in her chest voice. Her runs make me wanna through up. now her mid range and head voice - golden.

As I said multiple times, Xtina does have a beautiful voice WHEN she is singing in her controlled range, which is about one octave. As soon as she starts the usual oversinging and scratching the hell out of her voice it's just unbearable to me. Living her life as a singer and not knowing the basics of singing like having a correct breath support is lazy and incompetent, to say the least.

However, as we all know about Beyonce, she's the best singer of her generation because of her incredible control and musicianship, which comes from hard work, not natural talent.

@Hockyluv21 Exactly. Being a great vocalist is not something that comes out of the blue simply because someone has natural talent. When I first listened to Beyoncé in "Bills,Bills,Bills" her voice didn't really catch my attention, while Christina's voice in "Genie in a Bottle" was more captivating imo. However now, almost 13 years later, Bey completely smashes Xtina as a vocalist. Talent is not all, hard work makes the difference.
