On the contrary, I didn't finish it. Forgive me for being appalled by people who take the work of others (Enya and Frank McCourt in this case), so they can make an emo view-grab on YouTube.
If they were trying to educate people or make a point, it may be better to focus on the actual events rather than a movie based on them.
It's disrespectful. Maybe you should consider all the different angles before you attempt to make a 'clever' remark.
Like you never made a mistake while replying to an idiot on Youtube... and I think it is you who doesn't recognize sarcasm. I was being sarcastic too idiot. By the way, I'm a published author... Are you?
"I was being sarcastic too, idiot". There you go. Another little slip up.
For the record; I AM a published author. I find it quite sad that you feel the need to play that card in order to win an 'argument' on the internet.
I think you're reading into what I said a little too much. Go make yourself a cup of tea and chill out, sunshine. Bitch away if need to have the last word. I'm offering it to you. Take it. Enjoy. I haven't the time for your juvenile nonsense. Tata, and have a pleasant day.
Mm... I was going to correct that typo. "if you need to have the last word", but you know what? You can have that too. :) Do enjoy it. Hopefully once you're done snipping at random comments made weeks ago you can go accomplish something worthwhile. Good luck!
Well, we can talk about the famines and genocides of the first half of the 20th century or we can talk about the triumphs of the first half of the 20th century.
i live just few minutes away from the shannon, its the mst and the rain that you inhale andcauses terrible chest pains and flues, it can kill you if you do get attention, also they had tb then
Because then the river shannon held a disease it says so in the book it's self, and if you have any questions ask Mr. Frank McCourt Himself, he's still alive
does anyone know what the religious song when Frank is in the church praying for Teresa is called? Its when he confesses all to the Father...someone help!lol
the writer of the book glimpses back to childhood were he grew up. hopefully thngs have improved over the years .coz i know a few northern ireland prods or catholcs could write a story 2. given have a chance. times. this is a sad story but .good to view. relgion shouldnt be apart of it. we all feel for the writers younger brothers sisters mother. good read puts us in his shoes.
It was 1993 when I read Angela's Ashes. I immediately fell in love with the story, Mr. McCourts story, that is. In 1999, I saw the movie, again fell in love with the cast. (Who can't say no to Emily Watson?) Mr. Parker did an awesome job directing. When I went to Ireland, #1 on my itinerary was to visit Limerick. I'm glad I did. Something wonderful resulted from this man's tragedy. I cried. Laughed. And fell in love. Happy Christmas to everyone...
Geez it;s not like there were no slums anywhere else, the irish always act so hard done to - anyone looked into the history of manchester? 32 families living in a cellar, the only entrance about 1ftsq? What about the east end of london, the tenements of glasgow - its all shite, not just ireland.
I don't think anyone, including Frank McCourt, is saying that other people aren't poor as well. Obviously he's going to write about his own personal experience of poverty, and not somebody else's.
The Irish are wonderful people. The last of the Egyptians, it is a sorrow that they are giving up their right to remain Irish and becoming part of the third world. A life lived in Irelands 800 year suffering..a life left in a great exodus fom Egypts babylon..
I feel john williams music and the movie itself captured the spirit of what it was to be poor and irish. While i cant picture my own childhood in such a beautiful manner, i would thank Frank McCourt, for bringing my irish childhood back to me. To sit on a hill and look over ones life with a heart full of joy and a tear of happiness, is to look back and say i wouldnt change or regret a thing.

Oh wow. So you've taken clips from the MOVIE and attempted to make something moving with an Enya song.
This is drivel. Sheer bollocks. It merely draws attention to the fact that no one gave a damn until a ruddy film came out.

Nevertheless, you still watch.

If the people in the lane were so poor and had only little food to survive then why didn't the boys go to the River Shannon and catch fish?

Angela's Ashes is also about the triumph of the human spirit, the power of love between mother and child, an hommage to survival.
