@RovingLandRover well I guess my point is people in canada/usa are more likely to buy something made in our own country like Ford, chev or dodge then drive an import company like toyota or nissan but idk bout toyota's being better built when ford has been around 100yrs or longer than they have, only thing toyota has on any car company is the damn pruis and other cars made by'em and the NEW 5.7L tundra's are good but need more ground clearance.
Ha i laugh at these comments about u guys dissing the car companys but if u really knew your shit u would know that there are more fords on this earth than any car every made for eg. in the early 1900's henry ford sold over 15 million model T fords & that the Ford F-150 ,250's & 350's are the the best selling truck in Canada for 45yrs straight & 30 yrs in America But in canada most People who drive trucks are rich people & farmers cuz the 2010 F150's are 51G Base model with no options
its hard to find a truck that suck (Honda Ridgeline.) And people you cant say that one truck is driven by more of one race because its differant everywhere you go, for example in Louisiana for the most part only white people drive Fords, Hispanics seem to like dodge, and when a black guy owns a truck its rare to not be a chevy. Here in my city the silverado is the #1 selling truck (followed close by ford.) there are alot of black people which literally make the differance. Im white and im a ford
And snakesonaplane, your a fuckin idiot, dodge is practically bankrupt, and chevy hasn't outsold the Honda ridgeline, and those don't sell. The number one selling is ford, but not outlasting, and the reason why the ford f150 is the number 1 seller is because they have contracts for fleet trucks, so a company will buy like 4 and that counts as sells. My 220k mile 4runner is all original and my DD, fords won't last past 90k without issues.
@kmfdeviant530 not true.... just about any car will last if you take care of it. every car or truck will have a certain weakness unless its diesel and a diesel is just getting broken in at 300k miles... so pretty much buy a diesel and your set.... better mileage, more torque for towing and you can burn just about anything in allot of diesels.
On another note, the only reason that tundra couldn't climb is because it doesn't have TRD locker. Technology wins everytime. Power doesn't do any good if you can't connect it to the ground.
I like Chevy a lot, I've never been in a Toyota truck, but from how long all of my family members' Toyota's have lasted, I can say that these trucks will outlast the big 3. Especially Ford. Fords suck.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
these toyotas are beaner cars. my 1994 ford f150 LARIAT edition is the baddest fucking truck in the fucking world. ill challange everybody to a potato hauling contest come get some! chevy rules!
the tacoma beasted the heck out of the tundra and the guy driving wasnt evan trying dude tacomas rock rams silverados and any other truck besides toyota sucks balls. for shizzels
Don't say that, because I drive a tacoma and would rather have a Silverado I think they are built better and are just better, the Tacoma IMO is underpowered.
@krapfeaster: maybe you should do some reseach and you won't look like an idiot, as i'm correct becasue GM, Ford and Dodge sell more trucks than Toyota and Nissan, not my opinion it's a fact, they outsell the japs every year and counting
maybe thay outsell.....but at lease the Tayota p/u's are way more durable....and thats a fact!!!! not to mention the resell is way way wayyyyy better then the big 3.....
Depends on what you compare. The durability of the newer Tundra's is questionable as they have a weaker frame compared to the competition, and they've had numerous complaints about the tailgate bending out of shape in the middle when loading/unloading something heavy, like an ATV... As an owner of a 04 Dodge Dakota (which is a great truck too), I can comfortably say the Tacoma is the best midsize out their. They're selling well, and they're flat out bullet proof. They need a redesign though...
i got a 91 pick up ( Hilux ) and that this is boxed from front to back. i dono why thay dont keep doing that.must be due to cost but still the frame on my 06 Tacoma is also a semi boxed frame, the boxing ends right about where the cab meets the box but i use it to 70% of its capabilities so no danger on busting it.
( check out my profile page for the video with my 2 trucks )
Saw the vid. Pretty cool setup their, thats the kind of truck I'd like to have to throw around with. I think car makers keep inching away from box frames on trucks, to make them more car-like in ride quality. Cant say its for cost, cause they keep getting more expesnive every year!
If you had said ANYTHING other than a Dodge Dakota I would have agreed with you but the only thing Dodge puts out that is worth a snot has a Cummins under the hood!
Like them or not, Dodge had a good thing going with the Dakota's untill they made them butt ugly in 05. They were pretty even in sales with the Tacoma untill recent years. 2008 sales figures put the Tacoma at 144,655, and the Dakota's only sold 26,000 trucks. Last year Dodge sold only 10,000 of them! Crysler is done for IMO, they don't make anything worth looking at.
@snakesonaplane2 they outsell only trucks, toyota is the most selling dealer, as a owner of both ford and toyota, the ford is way tougher, and nicer on the inside, and just as long lasting.
no one gives a shit about how loud you truck is, its the suspension that counts. You can be as loud as you want but as long as your suspension is only marginal then it wont help.
Both are very nice trucks but not a really fair test. The taco's are smaller and the HP to weight ratio is better. The new tundra's seem to bulky but I love all yotas
and let me guess you drive some huge beast of a dodge or ford... with a massive gas guzzling V8 or diesel hog! both the tundra and the tacoma are great both have lots of power and lots of capabilities... and they still do it with great milage... not to mention they stand out when they do it too... dodge and fords trucks all look the same from year to year model to model just minor adjustments here and there... nothing catchy about them what so ever...
well i am going to have to correct you there on the highway a taco gets 21 mpg and 17 in the city... meaning combine MPG would be 18. now for a vehicle that weighs around 3,990 pounds with a 236 hp V6 with 4WD thats pretty damn good. my opinion is rather skewed due to the fact i am forced to feed a 1997 GMC suburban that does about 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway.
their numbers match up almost identical theyre 5.7L V8 and the ram makes slightly more hp and tq but otherwise rounding up theyre just plain even. you got to test one out man, but i think im pulling more towards a new taco or a new dakota.
yea i was lookin at the dakota for a long while. I'm a dodge fan but the one toyota i love is the tacoma. But the Dakota is just much more powerful and mean!
yes i drive an 02 dodge diesel, and no its not a gas guzzling v8, the gas guzzlers are the 5.4L and 5.7L tundras that are finally desent when redesigned in 06 or 07,and the tacoma's are shit the bed is so damm small u cant do anything with it.
what kind of milage do you get with your diesel... i do have to agree the 5.4L and the 5.7L in the tundras were poorly done... but the 06/07 i Force 5.7L are really nice... as for the tacoma... its not a HUGE work truck its more of a fun truck not meant to haul alot of stuff... if its bed space you want get the regular cab and long box... if you want crew space get double cab short box...
i have a 97 GMC suburban with 330 km with the 5.7L V8 weighing 5600 lbs and it still manages to do the same milage as your diesel...so technically your just as bad as most big V8's. but for weighing roughly the same and being able to haul close to the same thats still pretty good... my next vehicle is going to be a tacoma... not sure if i want an 09 definately gonna be the access cab V6 4x4 because i dont carry alot of passengers and i need the bed space and 4 wheel drive...
okay hummer... piece of trash... (civilian version) and F 250 i could go on about that for a while i am definately a ford hater... never have liked them and never will... had way too many problems with the ones i have been in or driven...
what do u mean by civilian version???? if your talkin about an h1( wich isnt mill spec) its quite amazing. but if your saying civilian version as in a h2 or h3 then yes most people think there pieces of trash.
agreed tho bro i dont like fords either at all whatsoever
ya the taco is a midsize truck. its a "Sport" truck i guess u could say. it can tow and haul but not much. but will go more places offroad than a full size. there amazing camping vehicles in that aspect in my opinion
