I remember this, too and used to have the Viewmaster reels for it :)
As many CGI modellers have found, there are some quite big differences between the external scale of the models and the interior scale of the sets, for several Anderson craft. Trying to make faithful 3D models of them often involves some degree of compromise.
For an especially successful CGI rendition of one particular Anderson classic, feast your eyes on watch?v=M2Jr16DAkXA
i remember this photograph from my childhood... i remember i used to have goggles you put a photowheel into and spun it and this was one of those photographs...
Wait a second, this picture was also used in a view master episode of thunderbirds. in that view master disc the plane crashed on a rock or something the hood was behind it and the thunderbirds saved the day.
Those magnetic clamps were used to grab the truck with eddie houseman in it right? Either its me or the plane is too small for the clamps. It that the model for the v17 bomber in the captain scarlet ep flight to atlantica? it's so similar
It's the same aircraft your describe from capt. scarlet although originally designed and built as it appears here as the RTL2 for Thunderbirds episode "The Cham-Cham'.
@NewController01 Picture was shot ESPECIALLY for the ViewMaster set, reel 3, in 1966. ViewMaster also was permitted on the set of Space:1999 to create unique pictures. Grabs are in pod and in nose of TB2 during the series (Day of Disaster, although smaller in size and design) Many features of the Thunderbirds craft don't add up...but it's all good fun and trying to explain everything scientifically takes away from the magic that the show is....

Yes, what's amiss is it was taken from my website without asking - as was the one RARE TV21 promo pics of 'Solar Danger'.

I notice 3 things amiss with this pic:
1. The grabs are in the wrong place (should be in the pod)
2. The RTL2 is about 66% too small (it's supposed to be at least 3 times as long as TB2)
3. The RTL2's landing gear is down, which it shouldn't be since it's just ditched in the ocean.

i think those grabs are far to big to fit in the front part of T2....
in " End of the Road" they used to be in the mid part (the pod)
