Hi, I also need to add CableCard Tuner to my PC, I hate the fact that I have to use cablebox+PC to watch different media (internet vs cable).. I just want to combine them.
Which Tuner are you using and do you have a link to where I can buy one for my WMC7?
I have the same setup with ATI TV Wonder, but I also have HDHR Dual as well (the grey one). I am waiting for HDHR Cable Card version, but I must say ATI TV Wonder is an excellent device, very fast tuning and does not drop signals. And for HDHR, there is nothing else to say, it is just perfect.
It was a good product for it's time but I must say the new Ceton tuner is much better.
Especially because the ATI tuners were only shipped with special vista PC's. I have a windows7 PC and it was a pain to get it activate. Plus, I record a lot of shows and it's nice to be able to record 4 at once.
Media Center is far better than anything the cable companies provide. I can't stand the crappy set top box's with 1-200 gigs of storage. With Media Center I have 4 TB.
I totally agree, cable companies boxes are nowhere near what you can build, but is there any problem with HDHR's Cable Card device, it is supposed to cost almost half of what Ceton does, and also it is external. For someone with not much room left inside the PC, it is going to be an excellent choice.
Since I am running HDHR Dual + ATI on my Win 7, i can still record 3 shows in channels that are supported by all three tuners. (Except premiums since hdhr doesnt support them).
Hey, where did you get that Tuner from I was looking up and down the net for it, I cant seem to find it, would you happen to know off hand which model/cost?
Windows Media Center with a CableCard can handle all HD channels. The real question is: does Basic Cable from Charter give you HD channels. If so, then you will be available to view HD channels in Windows Media Center no problem.

hey i connected it to the timewarner box ut it kinda doesnt look nice and the remotes are hard to work with

@mannymarz
When you connect it through a cable box the signal is automatically downgraded to 480p. The only way to get HD signal is through a Cable card.

Did you have to get a tuning adapter, as well?

@klrobinson999
In order to receive switched digital channels you will need a tuning adapter.

He is using the ATI tv wonder. They are hard to get and only can record 1 channel.
I also have a media center but I use A Ceton tuner which can record up to 4 channels at once.
Just type ceton on amazon. It's the first result.

The ATI tuners are really hard to find. It took me three months to get one and it didn't even work.
Luckily, there are much better tuners available. Type in Ceton on amazon. I use a Ceton tuner in my media center.
Video series coming soon on my channel.
