  • Yak-36 delicately missed ....

  • 6:32 nice place to have a picnic....

  • made in GERMAN!. fuck england!

  • @saab694855 It's british...

  • i didn't realise how old the design is but since they had the decign for so long couldn't they design a new version able to be a good as any other fighter but with vertical tak off n landing then u have the perfect fighter on earth?

  • @polygamous1 They have and that is the F-35:)

  • @KennethShaunTang but the F35 its Not made in England its american yet it was Britain with the first really succesful VTO plane it just seems a shame britain didn''t develope it further n someone else is now having the benefit of all the British know how with VTO fighter planes n the RAF has to pay money to buy what was originally British tecnology

  • I just love that the notion that after a nuclear exchange wiped out all NATO airbases, a "small number of Harriers would remain" to keep fighting--yep, that's some realistic thinking.

  • MY grandad worked on the harrier with germany and usa (he was in the raf)

  • 3:04 no kiddin' ..that would save some space on a harrier. ^_^

  • It's the Balzac not the Balls sack...Pretty fun anyway :)

  • lousy aircraft. Many pilots died just from learning how to fly the damn thing.

  • love how the model harrier has a wire attached to the top. i know it was for a remote control but can you imagine telling NATO you have this revolutionary design for a VTOL aircraft and showing them that video

  • Us "Yanks" are just good businessmen. I'm not ashamed to say that most our success in the air has come from German engineering. Just have to remember that a lot of it wouldn't be developed as quickly with out our war mongering habits.

  • @infidelstrong3 Harrier = British

  • 0:23 - NATO left with no land-base aircraft except for Harriers...

Yeah, they'd already already lost if that was the case.

  • 5:03

    what????

  • It's Balzac you ignoramuses. The author and playwright.

  • @weezylone omg listen to you, an educated man...LMAO...The playwright??? BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @BeLikeWater1000 Well yes, actually. Whats funny about that?

  • ballsack!!!!!!!!!!!

  • British excellence!

  • The harrier is a german story americans maybe use ur own brain

  • thankyou for posting!

  • kestral, thank you radlett

  • Mad freakin skills on that verijet!

  • Great video. Good job.

  • Pete Gerard had some huge balls....

  • 6:32 - a picnic time?

  • shit

  • Even sounds like the one from MW2!!!

  • Good stuff!

  • so what show was this taken from?

  • it was the germans who first tried to make a vertical takeoff plane, britian just poineered the idea

  • @alaneazy Yeah - but the programs were all canceled mainly for political reason. And strategy reaons as well. The idea of the german program was to have still airforce capabilities after an first attack. (6 days war showed why). But: since the attack by the Soviet Union would have destroyed all infrastructure as well...it turned out to be a wrong conception to have planes which can start off verticaly but will have no fuel or maintance capabilites.

Especially as interceptors VTOL is not optimal.

  • @alaneazy the Short SC.1 (1957) was the first vtol aircraft

  • At 5:20, the flying ball sack! Lol. The plane no pilot admits that they fly!

  • 'What i understand is that there would be no harrier without the US Tailsitters', i am afraid my friend you understand wrong, they are very different tech.

  • whats the name of the plane on 4:56

  • 3:30 coller than the harier and 4:25 also coller than the harrier 4:58 are thoes jet engines the must do the same whit the v-22 osprey an than instat of turboprop jet engine

  • This is a German design, I hope you know.

    It was a Luft46 design.

Not the Harrier in itself, but the idea of VTOL.

Their design was a mix of fantasy... and genious.

The original design was a sort of jet-helicopter. It had three wings with jets at the end that could be angled for vertical takeoff, then, later, rotated to level flight.

  • @n1b3luNg

big different between idea like thinking about than the inovation itself with blueprints

i have an idea of VTOL supersonic tanks ... and now ???

hey a lot of ppl have idea aboput shooting.. at first witrh the bow.. spears,, than rifels ,, then rockets missiles...

if it dosnt use the same technology forget it ^^

  • 5:21 did he just say what I think he said?

  • @RoboTekno i think he did hahahah

  • @RoboTekno lmfao i think he did hahahahaha

  • @RoboTekno lol ballsack

  • @RoboTekno o.o

  • @RoboTekno He said Balzac (like Honoré de Balzac, a famous french writer)

  • @RoboTekno Nederlander ? ;)

  • @RoboTekno BALLSACK?

  • @RoboTekno the ballzack

  • @RoboTekno ROFL!

  • @RoboTekno the ball sack?

  • @RoboTekno BALLSACK

  • @RoboTekno you mean the "ball sack"???

  • @molceonly :P

  • This is an awesome documentary. Is there more?

  • What i understand is that there would be no harrier without the US Tailsitters. I didn't even know they were involved in the harrier's development.

Oh well, the harrier had to get it's balls from somewhere, so i guess it makes sense.

  • @peepeevagi Oh yeah thanks to the good old Yanks again, nothing would be possible without you guys... It's all American influence. I suppose your going to say that Concorde was influenced by the Americans in one way or another, you silly boy...

  • @visibleimagery

Are our american friends claiming to be God incarnate again? Are they forgetting that it is Germany and Britain who originally designed the Harrier? Are you getting annoyed?

I understand, it annoys me too. Just say the word and Ill post you links to some great american military failings, which you can use next time the yanks claim to be God incarnate to prove that they're only human at the end of the day.

    ;-)

  • @peepeevagi Well I suppose the Harrier designers looked at the US Tailsitters and said " that isn't practical" now how can we build something that works. Although the US Bell x14 was the first aircraft to fly VTOL using ducted thrust and bleeding air off the engine to control nozzles on the wings tips and around the fuselage.

  • Excellent video. Nice to see the old Hawker experimental works in Kingston where I used to work, installing the P.1127 engine!

  • Nice video. Thanks for posting it.

  • holy shit! at 3:20 that guy has some skills

  • @DjMarcE2004

Im quite sure they used a crane there as a test

  • @DjMarcE2004 faaaake !!

  • @DjMarcE2004 haha did u see the front of the jet? it was hang up noob xD

  • @PIMP89ii stfu

  • Comment removed

  • @DjMarcE2004 i believe its fake..why? not showing full view.

  • I've always liked this plane. I like the capabilities.Plus, it has pleasing lines when walking around it. I can't say the same for some much more focused jet fighters.

  • 3:03 Як так умеет интересно?

  • VTOL

Abbreviation for "vertical takeoff and landing," describing aircraft that can take off straight up and land straight down without the need of a runway. The most successful application of VTOL technology, based on the vectored-thrust engine, is the British Harrier jump jet.
