Venus's loss to Jankovic was terrible, I won't deny, but Venus has played so much more consistent tennis than Jankovic a season, not falling before the quarters in every event she played up until Roland Garros, whereas Jankovic was riddled with early loses up until Indian Wells. And Venus was injured in Miami, but if you want to claim Clijsters thrashed her, why don't you also mention the trashing Clijsters recieved from Petrova at the AO?

Pironkova did not "smash" Venus, she didn't hit her off court or play especially well at all. Venus's loss to Rezai was surprising but not a terrible scoreline as Rezai is capable of amazing tennis and Venus hates clay.

I see nothing special in Pironkova's game. She has no weapons, her groundstrokes aren't powerful and her serve is painfully average. Her lob-and-slice game style won't win her tour titles let alone slams. She didn't win this match, she was just on court when Venus lost it.
