I use the (very first) wireless controller for Guitar Hero 1 and 2 for the PS2 then use a PS2 controller USB adapter to plug it in. Last, since Guitar Hero 3 for PC doesn't support joystick (which the adapter is plugged in as), I use JoyToKey in order to replace the keys that Guitar Hero 3 uses with the buttons on my joystick, in this case the Guitar Hero controller.
