  • If I was to take it to a mechanic, how long should I expect the whole job to take? Thanks...

  • @dale3858 2-3 hrs i would think.

  • Rich, this really necessary to replace the multifunction switch? can't i just take off the housing and replace the switch without remocing the steering wheel?

    Is all

  • the car went from stickshit to automatic NICE =P nice camera!

  • @lunalink You noticed that.

  • @lunalink I just figured Rich got frustrated with that rusted or stripped steering wheel and switched to another car in the junkyard. ^_^

  • Rich - what happens if the coil turns? I removed mine before watching this video and did not tape mine (had to replace the ing switch). Do I need to replace it or ??

  • @dleeret no bigy it just has to be recentered.Rotate the center hub clockwise all the way til it stops then rotate it counterclockwise all the way till it stops counting the turns as you go.Now turn it back clockwise half the turns you counted and now your coil is centered.

  • If you guys have a hard time finding a 5.5mm nut driver, try looking at a RC hobby shop, they usually have those smaller sizes.

Also, 7/32 is the standard equivalent.

  • my odometer light went out in my saturn sl2 i dont have a dial it is led can you tell how thank you

  • @hooptyme1967 You have to remove the instrument cluster to replace the dash bulbs i have videos for this.

  • @Richpin06a One thing I would add is that anyone trying to pull off a steering wheel like you did should have the nut on a few threads first ! I lost a front tooth doing something similar with a gearbox casing.

  • I see. Well thanks for the great videos. I used to own a gen 1 s- series and i regret selling it. It was the easiest car to work on. It had over 247k miles and it ran like a champ.

  • Why did u film in two different cars?

  • @munoz4415 I tried to remove the steering wheel on two cars without success because i did not have my puller with me.The next day i returned with the puller and did the job.

  • @richpin06a u should buy those cars :D take them turn into saturn rice rockets :D

  • Is this procedure basically the same for most cars? I have a 03 saturn vue that needs it's sir coil replaced. Any differences you know of or anything specific about replacing the coil?

  • @jardner2 I would think it is basically the same for most vehicles.I have not worked on a vue so can not give you any info on that one.

  • Ha ha Rich, love those Christmas style red socks! Another great video to cap off the year. I always wondered how this comes apart, thanks for posting.

  • good vid and Merry Christmas..

How does one insure that the air bag does not go off while working on it. In the past I have disconnected the battery and the yellow connector, but wonder if thats safe.

    Thanks

  • @gst69man Disconnect the battery then the air bag fuse and wait at least half hour and you can remove the bag.

  • @gst69man Yes the red socks did add a little touch didn't it.

  • lol i was wondering why u through that bold lol

  • This looks about as friendly as changing a coolant temp sensor on a vw passat.

What's up with the hand stamp at 5:37, Rich be clubbin?

I think Rich has now shown us everything on a saturn s-series but the inside of the gas tank.... hmmm, I think I know what the next video might be.

  • @nobodyisname Clubbin thats a good one...lol The stamp is from the wrecking yard.I think my next video will be how to check a 98-02 Saturn range switch.

  • 1:40 it became automatic!

  • @capnfrog How the heck did that happen ....lol ...you are sharp

  • Im kinda glad to see another Saturn video... especially after that horrid Ford Escort!

  • Thanks for the detailed vid's. You do a great service to the remaining saturn owners.

Do you just go to the junkyard to do videos or are you actually fixing these parts?

I go every now and then to explore other saturns just to see what they look like inside or get an idea of how difficult something is on my actual car.

  • @hawke232 I do what you do plus people email me with requests for a video how to and i do it for them.

    rich

  • @richpin06a whats wrong with that saturn that in the junkyard? how many miles where on it

  • @crystalscan2002 It did not look like it was in an accident so it must have been a mechanical issue.

  • great detailed vid,,,,,,,,,thumbs up

  • as always rich great walkthrough video !!!
