A thermometer?

I would strongly recomend one for any tank, and it is necessary for tanks requiring a heater (e.g. a tropical tank). For Goldfish and other very robust fish that can survive in very cold, it is not necessary, but is helpfull.

They're very cheap and helpfull so I would say yes, but not crucial (depending).

don`t listen to her,its not estetical that gravel,and you dont wanna put chemicals in aquarium and in nature you dont have castels or airships or skeletons or buda in natural environment,a aquarium its a copy of a natural enviroment so...if you wanna know more about aquariums you need to read two mouths from a forum...and then you know everything but when you buy the aquarium its not that easy:))
