  • Totally The Man, as My Wife would say, she loves him, says no one can dance or sing or have such Grace & Style as Fred Astaire, he was Pure Class !

  • A pitty Hollywood has lost all of its class

  • Fred!!! You the man.....

  • at one time, everybody knew who this man was, how great he was, what he did! now there is only a few people do!

  • Anyone else tearing up? I AM!!

  • @CelineElla123 crying!

  • I loved him as the voice of S.D. Kluger in Santa Claus is comin' to town.

  • When I saw Audrey Hepburn, I just melted. She's my idol and her smile makes mé smile.

  • @iMargreet, well this is about FRED ASTAIRE not bloody Audrey Hepburn !!!

Fred a genius, modest beautiful man.

  • What a beautiful and talented man. A true star. Plus note: he was 82ish in this video!? Damn he looks good.

  • The most important figure in the history of Dancing! I salute you Mr. Fred Astaire!

  • yah that guy was all class.

  • "I saw things up there that I don't remember doing!"

30 years later, Morgan Freeman stole his thunder.

  • Beautiful heart.

    Irreplaceable.

  • Such a modest, shy man.

A true genius and a true legend.

    He's always alive to me.

  • @mdshullaw52 That's a very heartfelt way to put it. Modesty is blissful.

  • a class act til his dying day

  • Is there any chance you could upload Mikhail Baryshikov's remarks about Mr. Astaire from this Award show?

  • I met Ginger once at a book signing and I soared for days. I only wish I could have met this great entertainer as well.

  • He was fantastic and always will be. I saw my first Fred Astaire movie when I was 6 years old, and fell in love with him forever.

  • @LBJTV song is called "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails"

  • I wish Fred Astaire could have been bestowed with the mantle of immortality so he could live forever.

  • 4:08 Audrey Hepburn :D

    Fred = Awesome.

  • He's so shy and modest, that's why I've always loved him much more than Gene Kelly.

  • What really is striking is how modest he is about his achievents. He was always focused on the work and its difficulties, rather than on his ego and whether he was impressive. Very rare, especially for someone of his high quality and huge achievements. Even in the worst of his movies, his dancing numbers are outstanding. Once he took on a project he gave it his all, even if he felt that it was not turning out so good. VHS tapes of the show are available, used, but they are very costly.

  • The class and the heavenly feet of Mr.Astaire.

  • Guess there won't be more like Fred Ataire. That grace, you don't see it anywhere. We won't forget you Fred.

BTW Audrey Hepburn looks gorgeous as always in the video.

  • MEMORABLE!! :)

  • What is it going to take for AFI to upload this entire event?

  • He's the best dancer actor of all history movies.....the best picture.....TOP HAT

  • My all-time favorite dancer in movie history. Incredible talent that continues to astonish new generations. =D

  • Wow! Close-ups in the audience of two of my favourite gals: Petula Clark and Audrey Hepburn. (-:

  • Ahh! Fred is terrific!! What he said about Ginger's letter..so funny! =D Check out Audrey @ 4:08 looking gorgeous as ever! =)

  • @LaBelleAurore504 Amazing.
