I have a Land Rover Discovery 2003. I just went off-roading and hit really deep water/mud/dirt...the works. Does anyone know if you need to service your car after something like that? Like there doesn't seem to be any damage or anything like that but should i bring it to an auto shop to change the fluids or anything?

my disco just got written off after a subaru divebombed it in the side, but the insurance company let me keep it and gave me a wad of money, and it wont cost hardly anything to fix. only problem is i got to get it re-registered. with the money left over im going to mod it

Im sorry but i really have to but in here...

-Series 2 disco is the best yet, an improvement of the first, faster, safer and more accurate steering.

-Series 3 by ford was really a failure, only very small accelaration beniefits and handles far worse. Yes, sad to say better off-road but what do most users no do with their 4X4, hint its not off-roading.

-Freelanders pathetic homosexual cars, as BMW landrover would say, "A pale immitation".

No the freelander and the freelander 2 dont have low range boxes. But the freelander 2 has a shit version of the discovery 3's terrain responce.

i own a 2002 series two and everyone tells me im crazy for treating it the way i do but its so much fun i have tried desperatly to sink that thing but its a damn good off road vehicle ..it will go through over and up anything i want it to...a very impressive off road vehicle right outta the box..i lifted mine 4 inches and added 35 inch mud dawgs though

Only problem with the 200 and 300 series discos is the hubs don't lock. The diff lock just locks front and rear power distribution. Which means if you get caught at a funny angle (like I did a couple of months ago in a ditch) you can't get out, cuz the wheels won't turn at the same time as each other. Bit of a weakness for a 4x4 vehicle really. I owned a 1988 4x4 toyota hilux pickup, It had manual locking front hubs, and LSD at the rear. That hilux could get through things my 300 can't

I love all you people who say land rovers are shit, you haven't got a clue, a land rover was the first car to be seen in over a third of the world. Land Rovers have been going 60 years they have achieved more than any other 4x4 how can people call them shit! What other 4x4 is even close to being as famous as a Land Rover.

Hummers are just Cheveys with fancy clothing, If Land Rovers are shit why do every emergency & military service Use them. Even a series one Land Rover would own a Hummer :P hehe. My mate has a Hummer does about 8 miles to the gallon and is shite on the sloppy mud hills.

except they are too heavy and get stuck in the slightest little bog,

my disco weighs less and i had to rescue a h1 from the us rangers on sailsbury in a 90 a few years ago as the h1 was stuck and so was the recovery truck, they saw the funny side although H1's do look the dogs with no doors or roof

its all preference, if u can afford an h1 then sweet but for most people discos and rovers are great, plus if u can appreciate their heritage its all the better, h1s are purpose built military vehicles which is cool and all but my family has always had landies so theyre what i like

id say they were pretty stock, some of them might have All Ts and the silver one has a winch but now suspension mods that i can see, and yes, the freelander is pretty good if you know how to drive it right.

I have an '03 Discovery (which I'm proud to say is covered in mud right now) and I have to say I'm kind of surprised to see the little Freelander out there in that mess... I always thought of that truck as a sort of an AWD car but nothing really more than that. Kudos to Land Rover for making such a good product.
