It has a very rigid body, is loaded with safety features, and pretty substantial in size. If they were going to make it less weight and keep everything they as is they would have to go for light weight more expensive materials.

You can make it weigh less if strip it down and start replacing components you need with light weight aftermarket ones when they become available.

Because it wasn't designed from scratch. They borrowed the zeta platform from the G8 sedan which added a lot of weight.

I'll give them credit for a totally unique shape. I think the front and rear end treatments are borderline ugly though. The profile is awsome. Something about this car reeks of cheap, plastickiness though. Can't quite put my finger on it. This new Camaro and the new Mustand aren't even sports cars in my book. They're ment to be stylish and look good cruising with a rumble left behind as they pass you. I don't picture these cars shooting through twisty roads with ease. They have a chubby image.

Well I disagree with that last part of your statement. The Camaro SS clocked a Nurburgring laptime of 8:20 which is not bad and faster than the 2007 Audi S5

It was the F-Body Camaros in the 1990s that got me into cars. I love the Dodge Challenger, but I'd LOVE to see the Camaro finally show up on the road. Lovely car.
