crosby did NOT single-handedly win the cup it was a huge team effort. in the decisive game 7 of the finals which will prove to be the biggest game of their lives he was a non factor. pens are a great team as a whole and giving sole credit to one player is just plain foolish.

This is a fair statement. The Wings did a good job shutting both him and Malkin down for the better part of the series. None of the stars from either team were really able to produce much. It was nice to see 2nd and 3rd line players step up so well. Proves that the Pens have enough depth to get the job done. I was happy with them for sure.

Using the draft and farm system to assemble a good team is exactly the way the league's draft is designed to work.

It is also exactly the same way the NFL draft works.

There is still a lottery involved so there is no guarantee of getting the top pick.

You also still have to make your picks wisely - there's no guarantee they'll be good players

Well heck, I guess the Pens GM did a better job than Detroits GMs in the late 60's way on through to the mid 80's. I mean, it only took them, what 20 years of straight sucking where they only made the playoffs 4 times and only won one series (a preliminary series at that), and then another 11 seasons to win a cup. All in all it took them 42 years between winning cup 7 and cup 8. Detroit should bow down and praise Ken Holland, or else you'd still probably be the deadwings.
