@szaki Really...used them in WWII??? I'd of never known that unless I had the largest collection of books showing HOW they did that for sale on my website of USH2 (dot) com - Click on the HYDROGEN link, because the gas does contain alot of hydrogen. I have the books on how the Swedes Did it (vol 9) how the Australians did it (volume 5), How the Americans did it (volume 1) and the best easiest book on how you can do it yourself (Volume 3 & 4 in one book).
This stove came out about 4 to 5 years ago and it was the first gasification stove on the market and still is. There was a 'zip' stove which had a fan that forced combustion but was nothing like this. Yes, this fan should last a very long time, the entire stove is made of stainless steel. It doe not come in white anymore, only shiney stainless. Get the stove on the USH2 (dot) com website, see the very top of the page. We have other stoves as well. -Steve
@heycatmon no...not at all...has NOTHING to do with it in anyway. This is partial oxidation of wood and the production of H2 and CO dominated woodgas, which is then immediately burned. Complete documentation is in the HYDROGEN SECTION of the USH2 (dot) com website.
@NeoLudditeDave NO...the battery ALWAYS has to be plugged in, but it lasts up to 20 hours on one set, it runs a LONG time on 2 AA batteries. Its not like a normal fire where you really have wait for it to get burning before cooking, this is ready to cook in a minute or less, and when you unplug it, it goes off pretty quickly and the fire burning slows or stops.
I chopped a tree last year and stored its branches for utilising the free energy which would otherwise had gone to waste fill sites, so i will be using this outside in my garden to heat water to run my central heating. and hot water
@liberatepoverty Its a 10,000 to 12,000 BTU / hour biogas WOOD STOVE, its NOT a Light Saber, its NOT going to heat your house, its NOT going to heat the hot water for your house, its NOT the force Luke, its a stove, a camping stove, it'll cook a meal, it'll bake bread with an oven that goes over a camping stove, its NOT going to make you energy independent.
this looks pretty sweet, can you add an adjustment for the fuel holes, maybe obtain a hotter/cleaner burn of the gas? like a blue flame instead of yellow
@Valhalla1 NO...you cannot adjust the holes...its very precisely calibrated right now... the yellow flames goes away and turns blue when a lot of the VOC's leave the wood. It burns very cleanly when its running right now. When it starts up, it can smoke, depending on how fast you start it... its an awesome stove, I know you'll love it. get it at USH2(dot)com :) see the link at the very TOP of the page.
@angryteabag YES.. I HAVE captured the gas from the stove and put it into a balloon and then used that stored gas in a modified propane stove (blocked up the air holes) and boiled water etc...it works very well. you can see a video I have of it on my you tube channel...its the one with the single tall blue flame going straight up.
@Axbent That's a damn good idea for gasification! You can make a small Stirling engine cheap enough to pay for itself in batteries in a pretty short amount of time...
@JTownCactushugger ..yeah...right.. make a small stirling engine that pays for $3 in batteries in a short amount of time...when pigs fly!!!! The only stirling engines on the market today that you can even think of buying are 'toys'. useless worlthless do nothing TOYS. There is NOT ONE, NOT ONE power producing stirling engine on the market TODAY, NOT ONE that you can go online and order with a credit card TODAY. not even the whipser gen people..they are all vaporware still.
@pr101j Great.. I'm thrille that you are happy with it.... its a great stove, comes in 3 sizes, including the new larger 'fire place' or what I call 'fire pit' model... great for the cool nights outside on the patio !!!
I have seen self powered flashlights that have a crank to charge them up. I wonder if those could be used to either power the blower or recharge the batteries.
@flintstone9812 ONLY if you wanted to make it really really complicated by doing that. Running for 10 to 20 hours (closer to 20) on 2 AA batteries, which can have their own recharger, its pretty darn good. How well does it burn without the fan... like a bunch of sticks in a coffee can.
@windoes98se USH2 =d=o=t= com see the big banner at the top of the screen and click on the link and you'll get taken to the stove area with ALL the specs on the stove as well as the 3 different types of stoves we have !!!! They are all awesome, we've sent them all over the world and people just love to use these things... it turns everything that you can pick up off the ground into a darn great fuel you can use to cook with, boil water etc... its a very well engineered unit.
@Axbent only if you wanted to spend 50x more money on a stirling device than you wanted to on the stove and then wanted it very complicated instead of being darn easy and simple. I can sell you a 1000 stoves, but I could not find100, let alone 10 small stirling engines worth a darn to sell you.
@treborly its partial oxidation of the wood fuel, it turns the wood fuel into Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen and it burns that gas pretty effeciently at the top of the stove, not inside of the stove, that's where its gasified. its many times better than 'just a fan' blowing on a fire, like a black smith blower... in fact... if you are really really good, you can turn a black smith blower into a gasifier by controlling the air flow rate and the depth of the fuel. - Steve
@J0Gu7 USH2 =d=o=t= com See the Stove link at the very top of the page and you'll see all 3 of the stoves and their specs and prices and other information....
This is a smart stove, well done. My question would be: if you have less oxygen you get an incomplete combustion (no flame but a glow), = more CO and H2 = better efficiency. Why not make a lid and have the holes with burnable gas come out of the lid, and in turn heat the cooking pan?
@BornFreeSailor because its perfectly balanced right now. Good thought, but there were a LOT of engineering and computational fluid dynamics (air flow) that went into making the holes on the bottom of the stove and the size, diameter and height of the fuel area. - Steve
Cannot order from your website ....added to cart wood burner stove...... what was added to cart was book on Solar ....please fix...... want this stove X 2
I bought one of these a couple weeks ago. I've been experimenting with it quite a bit since then, burning big chunks, small chunks, sticks stacked vertically, sticks stacked horizontally, hardwoods, softwoods, pine needles, pine cones, wood pellets, etc, etc.
I like it a lot. It boils water faster than our GE gas range. Its ultimate use will be to heat bath water at our cabin. Ponderosa pine needles carpet the ground inches thick there.
oh now... this camping stove is only for looks..you can only use it to stare at the pretty flames and the smell of wood smoke.. maybe..maybe..if you are really daring you might roast a marshmellow over it...but don't push it.
I think i saw this in a movie on a German Truck shortly after WW2 ends. The driver only burned some Wood and the engine of the Truck was running. Is that the same System?
Yeah... its the same.. and we sell EVERY book written on the subject of what you are talking about... see USH2 (dot) com..... it works, you can still do it today.
you're the best Steve - yeah the science and DIY is there, those of us who buy it and get off our asses enjoy the tremendous rewards, but your replies are killer, funny shit dude. thanks again - for the humor, the effort, the books and videos and so much more, and now... back to work - Kevin the Berserker
It generates 1.5 - 3 KW of heat, comparable to the big element on an electric stove; it burns only 10 g of fuel/min (40% efficient); and it can be used indoors with minimal emissions. It uses a single AA cell that lasts 3 hours on HIGH and 6 hours on LOW.
The stove sells for $55 plus shipping and comes with a full instructional manual. WOODGAS COOKSTOVES look it up on line. Nice video.
Could this be used indoors after the gasification process has started? Didn't know if the level of gases is still too great for SUPERVISED indoor use. Please let me know.
there is no end to what people will COMPLAIN about... and its amazing how wrong they are. The unit uses FUEL you PICK UP OFF THE GROUND, FREE FUEL and as far as the baterry goes, USE A RECHARABLE BATTERY. You have NO concept of 'sustainablity' nor ethics nor intelligence.

It was mounted outside on the rear of the bus, truck to produce gas to run the engine.
It stunk, but worked.
