heck with the 'I like this' button ... I'm looking for the "I LOVE THIS' button!! First heard this in the summer of 68 when my sister's friend left some 45's at our house by accident, and this was one of them. Needless to say I wore it out ... GREAT song!!
I first came to this song a few weeks ago when I heard the 1995 version on a compilation CD. After listening to both versions loads of times I decided I preferred this, older, version, it seems more heartfelt and a bit less polished somehow... What a stupendous love song. Just beautiful.
Thank you for posting one of my favorite songs from Eric Burdon and The Animals. The drums and strings add so much to the sentiments expressed in the song.
When you upload a song you expect some people to see and appreciate. Well, I'm a young person and this is not the first time I hear it, but I'd like to thank you for doing it. It's so great and warm from somebody to show such a beautiful song to other people, especially in these bitter times, it makes me keep moving on and remember that all of us are the ones to make it better.
Eric Burdon is an absolute LEGEND!!!! I absolutely LOVE this song ... Back in the late 1960's I used to play it over and over again on my stereo. The lyrics and music is hauntingly beautiful and takes me back ..... The musical decade from 1968 to 1978 produced the most amazing music of all time. I feel so lucky to have lived through it all.
Kudo's to Vic Briggs for more perfect music, and another stellar arrangement to place behind the lead vocal of Eric. "New Animals" are timeless. Enjoy!
I bought this album 42 years ago without first hearing a note of it. At first I was disappointed, but it grew on me and it turned out, looking back, it was one of my favorite albums of the era. I'd like to hear Man-Woman. It was one of my make-out, mood songs back then. Hey, I was 17 or 18. I thought this song was a good song that was a little off-beat but yet fit the era musically and lyrically.
I'm surprised there aren't more comments on this song. I loved this as a kid, and I thought more people knew about it. What a shame--it's a beautiful song, and a different side to Eric Burdon than we usually see.
