I figure KABC covers the entire Southland, so they need more newscrews. But I don't get why they had two or three microwaves in one spot with the poles not up and running when a crowd was gathered when MJ had passed a couple months ago. The NY metro really is within the 5 boros, and their suburbs are prolly within 40/50 mile radius. They are the biggest metro in the US, but geographic metro are relatively much smaller than in LA.
@chyrongeek They do it for safety reasons. Years ago, there was a horrible accident with one of KABC's field crews. They were rushing and didn't realize when they were putting up the mast that there were power lines overhead. The reporter suffered serious injuries. So their new policy is that for field shots, they have min 2 trucks, one for the reporter, and the other to set up the live shot and communicate with Transmission back at the station.

Are there more people who work at KABC in LA than at WABC in NY for their local news? The credits were pretty lengthy .

I would think more people work in L.A. its a bigger scene;; they have a lot more to cover. but i could be very well wrong.
