Politicizing the election of judges jeopardizes the welfare of the judiciary. Since a judge is charged with interpreting and upholding the Constitution/laws, this should be the measure of their fitness for office. By politicizing the election of judges, our society runs the risk of electing judges based on popularity or demagoguery, rather than by their qualifications and ability to carry out their judicial responsibilities.
