Great close up of this beautiful spider! Some people actually collected several hundred thousand golden orb weavers from Madagascar, harvested the silk ( with only a few casualties, as I recall ), and wove an 11-foot tapestry sort of thing out of it.
I love your natural, calm response, it's a shame that more people don't adopt your attitude towards such wonderful creepy crawlies like our friend the Golden Orb Spider

Same for me. If I would see SUCH a BIG spider, I would, slowly begin to walk away, and in the end run away to someone, like my dad, who just smashes it....
Ok so I have a phobia of spiders and I think I'd be at the other end of the room squealing. ThThe fact that you even got close enough to video it... I couldn't stop cringing as I watched this video. o_O And she just picked it up with her hands?! Yeah, I don't think I could even use a butterfly net.
Wow she just grabbed it, I can do that with daddy long leg spiders. But I wouldn't do that with one of those. Looks too much like a huntsman, which I have a bit of a phobia of, since I was stuck in a car with one when I was a kid & it bit me.
Hello MicknFumi, Wow! You were bit? I'm sorry that you had such an experience when you were little which must have indeed been scary. Can I ask you a question or two? 1.) Was the spider accidentally provoked into biting by laying a hand or foot on it or did it come to you and make a bite? 2.) Do you remember how the bite felt or any effects? I've only met one person previously who had been bitten (an old farmer) and he described the bite as painful but otherwise not serious. Thanks in advance!
We were visiting my mums friend in hospital, who had just had a baby. Mum parked under a tree for shade during a hot summer day & we left the windows down a little so the car didn't get too hot. The leafy branches were touching the roof & the huntsman must have considered the car a better place to be. It was an old Datsun (Nissan) which had interior lights in the back. But one of the covers were missing.
The spider crept out from there, I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I looked out out the window. Then made its way across the roof above me. I told my mum who looked back & said its ok it won't hurt me. Famous last words lol. For not long after it fell down between my legs & bit me on the inside of my thigh. It bloody hurt until the next day & was itchy the next day. But yeah not so serious physically. But now I have a tendency to punch them when I see them, before they run & hide.
Wow! That's quite a story. I can certainly understand your current feelings toward these big spiders and share your reluctance to get near or touch them. The effect of the bite matches that of the old man I spoke with her who had been bitten ie painful yet not serious. Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it! -Kurt :-)
Hello Kat, Yumiko is a real pro with the spiders though she runs like the wind whenever Emily (or I) pick up a slug (she was not at all fond of my recent slug video). I am still amazed that she did that though nothing about her is less than amazing in my book! Thanks for watching and commenting! -Kurt :-)
Ah, memories.... Those used to be all over my house in Florida, and I cannot tell you how many times one of them ended up on my face or in my hair thanks to many games of backyard hide-and-seek. :S
do you guys speak Japanese

I was laughing along with this video throughout. You're such a bug-lover. You're whole analysis rivals fictional anime/sci-fi character archetypes.
Awesome Mom action at the end is always nice to see. You guys make a powerful team.
