How much does your crossbow weigh/bow? and where is this place where you hunt? by the way nice shots..u are correct i believe the hogs will die faster with a lung shot than a head shot.

The hogs thank you for the extra food and water. If you really wanted to get rid of them you'd be using more efficient methods then setting up a buffet and then shooting one at a time.

@bodemmonster Archery equipment is very effective, but not when shooting large animals in the skull. For one thing the target(brain) on a pig is somewhat smaller than yours. It is about the size of a tenneis ball., and surrounded by heavy bone. Shots to the vitals, (lung, heart, liver) are much more effective, and less likely to injure. There seems to be much that you do not understand about hunting and anatomy. Left to your own devices, starvation or plants would be your options.

Those are FERAL hogs by the look of them. They destroy everything, everywhere in Texas. They are deemed a nuisance animal, and are legal to hunt or trap all year round, no tags, no bag limit, with no restrictions on how you kill them.

They're invasive, fast-reproducing, displace native wildlife, and totally rip up vast acreage every day. The state is practically BEGGING people to kill more of them.

They're tasty eating, and you'd THINK that would bring their numbers down. It does not.

Sorry about the England comment. With a moniker like Highlander , I should have known that Scotland was your location. If indeed we follow you into an Anti hunting state, I believe that it wil happen as a result of our plummet into solcialism, which appears to be happening now. Rural America has been feeding the world now for decades. The real unfortunate thing about this, is that most of the anti hunters that I know would starve to death if left to provide for themselves.

Hunting in all its chosen methods have to be defended these days and a quick clean kill is as good as it gets using high powered weapons. This would always be my preferred choice. Hunting ( harvesting of plentiful game) is not a blood sport, but a useful pastime shared by our ancestors. Without the population control the antis would be screaming bloody murder. More deer are killed each year by antis running over them in cars than bowhunters take. This is not Europe. Make no mistake about that. Can you even possess a gun in England? I will worry about the antis don't help them by getting teary eyed over a feral hog. It is meat!

I would be considered by some a professional hunter and one thing I have noticed is that far to many of the shots been taken are not in the kill area, this pig shot is in the lungs rather than in the heart. that is why they run off, in short they bleed to death from within. \i prefere to hit the neck or the skull , death been instant.

From your comment, it is clear that you are not a profesional bowhunter. If you were, you would be aware of the fact that an animal shot through the lungs drops quiker than one shot through the heart. If you shut off the pump, the animal will run farther and not bleed, because the heart is not pumping it out. When bowhunting in thick brush, a double lung shot is as good as it gets.

@squazz Most hunters I know,if we don't personally eat the animal taken,donate the meat to Hunters for the Hungry.Food pantries all over the country use the meat to feed folks who need the help. I don't know any coyote hunters who'd eat the yodel dogs they take,though.But,those are pests anyway.

Dont go with a bow or crossbow tho , as hunting with those has been made illegal. Get yaself cert,d up get a decent rifle & join a syndicate. BTW some of the best shoots I have been on was stalking foxes, just you , your rifle , the open countryside & you & Mr Foxes wits. Makes a great day out.

I will pass that on to my Marine nephew. He was sort of a beginner at hog hunting. His quarry prior to this hunt had been limited to geese and enemy combatants. He must receive hihg marks for that.

I have filmed behind several makes of crossbows. When the shot is taken, you don't get the impression that they are that loud. When you play it back, that is the sound you always hear.

Flaxton1, I cannot abide by the wishes of the anti bowhunter. They are generally very uncompromising in their objections to what I do. Bow hunters and hunters alike that understand what they are looking at don't usually have a problem with what I attempt to demonstrate. Seeing where your arrow goes is very important in helping the bowhunter do the next thing he must do. Retrieve his quarry. As you know, a succesful shot kills in seconds. Dead is dead. Showing that will not slow down the antis.

No. When using archery equipment, a much higher percentage shot is one to the lungs and or heart. That shot with a very sharp broadhead acheives the quickest kill. Most of the time, extiguishing the animal within seconds.

also if you use rhino heads that spread out upon penetration it kills almost instantly!! people need to learn also with a an arrow or spear you can get deeper penetration in certain shots than buck shot!!
