it was noted that the original Lancer bumper has airflow problems to the CVT gearbox cooler, making most Lancers having gearbox overheating problem when driven at high speeds for extended periods.
Proton has redesigned the bumper airflow and CVT gearbox cooling system, so there are much more airflow to the gearbox, allowing it to operate at it's best.

@routakano ask any Lancer CVT owner that pushes HARD their car. try searching "Lancer CVT SLOW DOWN" on Google.
this problem occurs when driving at high speeds/high rev for long periods, or even if the GB is stressed (eg. climbing up hill).
the display will tell you 'SLOW DOWN' to prevent the CVT mechanicals/fluid from overheating/boiling and damaging the whole GB. but they still shorten the GB life.
Proton has overcome this in their Inspira by redesigning the bumper, so there's more airflow.
did you drove lancer GT or EX and feel the different when you are at the top of speed?, btw the EX and GT even the old lancer they having the different bumber, why should i ask the lancer CVT owner?, my advise just dont take 100% what you read from the google. if you say that suck meaning that you say it too to proton as the MMC in their advisor on the project.
@routakano never drove a Lancer, but i already sat in one of them. 'slow down' warning came twice. once while climbing Cameron Highland, once while speeding 210km/h.
this happens to both 9th generation Lancer EX and GT, including the GTS version outside Msia. in other words, ALL 9th generation CVT Lancer models.
what i'm trying to tell is, the airflow from Lancer's bumper to the CVT cooler SUCKED.
Proton fixed this by redesigning the bumper and reroute the airflow. so what's wrong with that?

@murugan1991 1stly, my dad have a Lancer and sometimes the gearbox overheats when climbing cameron highland. this happened many times to early 2007-09 Lancer owners.
2nd, yes MMC is happy Proton solved it coz MMC tak sakit kepala to find the problem.
3rdly, Lancer is NOT A SPORT CAR, it's just a normal sedan. Lancer Evolution is a sport car.

3) yeah i know that lancer evo is a sport car ..what i meant is mmc's history...both lancer evo and lancer sedan have been made using same exterior blueprint and material and it's just interior modification for evo!!
1) my dad never full throttle when climbing uphill. it's the gearbox ratio itself that revs high on heavy load. i remind you, it's a CVT. it'll do that to maintain torque.
2) the problem is, Perdana's gearbox was also made by Mitsubishi. AFAIK, Proton ended up using Aichi Kikai's auto gearbox for Waja and later models.
3) it's simple, normal Lancer and Lancer Evos were made from the same platform, they have totally different engine/transmission and slightly different chassis.
2) not a story, it's a fact. simple, Mitsu manual box rocks but Mitsu auto gearbox sucks, they often overheats. that's why Proton uses Aichi Kikai auto gearboxes for CamPro engines. go check their site, they make GT-R gearboxes too.

note, if you guys buy this car, don't be a wannabe and DON'T CHANGE THE BUMPER TO A LANCER ONE.
it was noted that the original Lancer bumper has airflow problems to the CVT gearbox cooler, making most Lancers having gearbox overheating problem when driven at high speeds for extended periods.
Proton has redesigned the bumper airflow and CVT gearbox cooling system, so there are much more airflow to the gearbox, allowing it to operate at it's best.

@routakano ask any Lancer CVT owner that pushes HARD their car. try searching "Lancer CVT SLOW DOWN" on Google.
this problem occurs when driving at high speeds/high rev for long periods, or even if the GB is stressed (eg. climbing up hill).
the display will tell you 'SLOW DOWN' to prevent the CVT mechanicals/fluid from overheating/boiling and damaging the whole GB. but they still shorten the GB life.
Proton has overcome this in their Inspira by redesigning the bumper, so there's more airflow.

did you drove lancer GT or EX and feel the different when you are at the top of speed?, btw the EX and GT even the old lancer they having the different bumber, why should i ask the lancer CVT owner?, my advise just dont take 100% what you read from the google. if you say that suck meaning that you say it too to proton as the MMC in their advisor on the project.

@routakano never drove a Lancer, but i already sat in one of them. 'slow down' warning came twice. once while climbing Cameron Highland, once while speeding 210km/h.
this happens to both 9th generation Lancer EX and GT, including the GTS version outside Msia. in other words, ALL 9th generation CVT Lancer models.
what i'm trying to tell is, the airflow from Lancer's bumper to the CVT cooler SUCKED.
Proton fixed this by redesigning the bumper and reroute the airflow. so what's wrong with that?

when i was in perodua and daihatsu there as for advise the production, the manager (mostly malay) didnt accept advise from the jap (daihatsu), they argue with them, u need to know how the jap work and then post something valueable here, we are talking about the quality shit, they even drove the jap (advisor) to nuttt..the fact is malaysia isnt good in automative industry yett,why?, just check on your proton car and you will know, d same thing happen in proton

@routakano yes i do know Proton was sucking under old MD before, & we need to follow how the Japs work. Japs looking for precision, while most Msian's are just 'boleh la tu'.
they are now improving, and that takes TIME. now Proton had to take those Japs ex-MMC officers to work in Proton. and look, now even MMC themselves praised Inspira coz the quality is somewhat same, or better than Lancers.
Proton is now under new MD & they have TONS of new development projects. i believe they'll improve.

@murugan1991 1stly, my dad have a Lancer and sometimes the gearbox overheats when climbing cameron highland. this happened many times to early 2007-09 Lancer owners.
2nd, yes MMC is happy Proton solved it coz MMC tak sakit kepala to find the problem.
3rdly, Lancer is NOT A SPORT CAR, it's just a normal sedan. Lancer Evolution is a sport car.

1) my dad never full throttle when climbing uphill. it's the gearbox ratio itself that revs high on heavy load. i remind you, it's a CVT. it'll do that to maintain torque.
2) the problem is, Perdana's gearbox was also made by Mitsubishi. AFAIK, Proton ended up using Aichi Kikai's auto gearbox for Waja and later models.
3) it's simple, normal Lancer and Lancer Evos were made from the same platform, they have totally different engine/transmission and slightly different chassis.

2) not a story, it's a fact. simple, Mitsu manual box rocks but Mitsu auto gearbox sucks, they often overheats. that's why Proton uses Aichi Kikai auto gearboxes for CamPro engines. go check their site, they make GT-R gearboxes too.
