The environmental angle seems very sketchy. The sheer number of scientists that reject the "global climate crisis" notion, coupled with the sheer number of politicians and celebrities that back the notion, makes a poor case for it.
I am very much in favor of discovering new methods of mobility, though. Petrol engines are pretty inefficient due to the heat loss, and I think we can do better with hydrogen-electric. Fewer parts, greater resources, and eventually lighter weight.
The problem with hydrogen right now is the inefficiency of our methods in generating the hydrogen. Really right now, the only way we will make hydrogen efficient is if we start to generate it through nuclear energy. But of course, no one wants that. Figure out how to dispose of that waste and hydrogen will be all good.

I think Diesel power will be the fuel of the future. 45-50 mpg is obtainable in many of the new Jettas and the they have the roar of raw, efficient power unlike gas cars, and economical that hybrid car. There is Ultra-low Sulfur Diesel and Bio-diesel that available as options for fuel.

The thing about the SLS Gullwing is that it's made to make you feel good. There's no point in a car like that other than to go really fast and look like a total badass. Making it an electric car is an awful idea because for a car that is essentially paying homage to its golden age, going electric will nullify the entire meaning behind the car.
Also, putting a V12 in it is a stellar idea. Anyone driving a car like that with an engine with that many horses would have a "crisis"...

What many people probably don't know is that with electric cars, you have pure torque in your possession. Combustible engines for instance have to run an entire cycle before they deliver the "gas", whereas electric cars allow you to have immediate take off, mind the suspension. This seems to me like the front to rear-wheel drive argument. And sure, you want good power, but isn't torque girthy power? Like say Chevy...How's this for a sloagan?
I think car companies should focus more on hydrogen fueled cars, like the Honda Clarity, since hydrogen is the most abundent element in the universe & you also don't have to worry about what comes out of the exhaust, since that's only water.
So, to sum it up, quit electric, go with hydrogen.
The problem with hydrogen is that it costs 150K to make a car with the power of a civic. Nobody is going to buy a car that will take 35 years before you see a return on your investment for fuel saveings. It just isnt practicle.

I've driven a couple garage built electric cars, granted no where near Tesla quality, but they are not that emotional. There is a romance and primal energy to a combustion's engine. Weather it's a boosted screaming four banger, throaty big block, or a smooth melodious V12. The vibrations and noise speak to the drive in a way only a true car guy/girl can understand. I'm sorry but driving a car that sounds like a really big RC car is not my idea of driving passion.

I think Diesel power will be the fuel of the future. 45-50 mpg is obtainable in many of the new Jettas and the they have the roar of raw, efficient power unlike gas cars, and economical that hybrid car. There is Ultra-low Sulfur Diesel and Bio-diesel that available as options for fuel.

Whether companies make gas or electric, WHO CARES?! you are not forced to buy an electric car, I don't really like them, but I don't care if others do. No one is forced to buy a mac over a pc either. or visa versa.
So they decide to be more "eco friendly" well, doesn't matter. even if cars are the cause for this "global warming", there is no way everyone will switch over to electric.

Damn right it's emotion based. No one buys a sports car or super car for practical reasons. You buy them because of emotion. For every day people, electric cars are fine. But there will always be people that want that raw emotion of a gas burner. If the only thing I did was commute, then it would not matter. But I like to hit the road and let the car speak to me as I blast down a twisty stretch. That's driving emotion, that is why I love cars.

I like petrol cars, they sound awesome and look nice, but electric cars are going to take over the car industry whether anyone likes it or not. Petrol cars won't disappear they'll just be vintage, like horses. Everyone has to look at the big picture, and billions of people adding smoke into the air can change the world. But if I'm wrong then yay!

I think they can pull some great performance number with electricity since those engines can have instant full torque, but I just don't know if I could give up the sound of a petrol engine. Nothing is better than a high revving engine and I just can't imagine a large dose of adrenaline when driving a quiet electric car.

Electric cars can kill people. Research shows that since e-cars are quiet, peds don't know what's gonna hit them. Now there's some kind of enforcement for e-car manufacturers to get a sound system in front of the car to help peds know they're there.

The thing about the SLS Gullwing is that it's made to make you feel good. There's no point in a car like that other than to go really fast and look like a total badass. Making it an electric car is an awful idea because for a car that is essentially paying homage to its golden age, going electric will nullify the entire meaning behind the car.
Also, putting a V12 in it is a stellar idea. Anyone driving a car like that with an engine with that many horses would have a "crisis"...

What many people probably don't know is that with electric cars, you have pure torque in your possession. Combustible engines for instance have to run an entire cycle before they deliver the "gas", whereas electric cars allow you to have immediate take off, mind the suspension. This seems to me like the front to rear-wheel drive argument. And sure, you want good power, but isn't torque girthy power? Like say Chevy...How's this for a sloagan?

I think car companies should focus more on hydrogen fueled cars, like the Honda Clarity, since hydrogen is the most abundent element in the universe & you also don't have to worry about what comes out of the exhaust, since that's only water.
So, to sum it up, quit electric, go with hydrogen.

The problem with hydrogen is that it costs 150K to make a car with the power of a civic. Nobody is going to buy a car that will take 35 years before you see a return on your investment for fuel saveings. It just isnt practicle.
Dont get me wrong, hydrogen IS the way of the future but its still 50 years away & electric is the next step for a better car today & tomorrow.

If u had any kind of realistic experience with engines you wouldnt be talkin.. A tesla tops out 90, 100 mph maybe?? im not sure, im not researching anything.... A lotus exige S wich is built on the same platform as the tesla would likely show a better time around a track.. Gas powered engines are much superior wen it comes to performance..

I've driven a couple garage built electric cars, granted no where near Tesla quality, but they are not that emotional. There is a romance and primal energy to a combustion's engine. Weather it's a boosted screaming four banger, throaty big block, or a smooth melodious V12. The vibrations and noise speak to the drive in a way only a true car guy/girl can understand. I'm sorry but driving a car that sounds like a really big RC car is not my idea of driving passion.

well I think that the auto makers are trying to sway the minds of people who don't believe in electric cars. I mean if you could buy an electric truck with the same power and torque as a diesel and it still got like 300 hundred miles to the tank. why wouldn't you? That's the argument at the end of the day isn't it, that electric cars are impractical. If the oil companies would stop paying inventors off maybe the process would happen much more smoothly. watch "the death of the electric car"

If an electric supercar is possible, and isn't overpriced for a car of its performance, then why the hell not do it!? The only problem is that electric cars' performances SUCKS ASS. Until we find a way to get some RPMs from an electric motor while keeping torque...it's just not happening.
