am not a fanboy or anything i have an xbox and ps3 and i love both but i got this game for the ps3 awhile ago, and if u have both then go with the ps3 version because cutscenes run at 1080p instead of 720p for xbox and ingame it runs at full 720p on ps3 and 530p on xbox ps3 version is 35gb and xbox version is compressed to 23gb but if u have xbox still get it it looks great, and who cares, if u r a fan of the series or new then try it

@TheHephaestus16 xbox due to the structure of its discs can only hold around 7GB of data. a dual layer dvd is around 9GB but copy protection is also on the disc. FFXIII couldn't fit onto 1 disc, it has a lot of CGI, textures, audio, and video

I liked the linear style of FFXIII, its weird when a game is open world and then they say it isn't good enough and when its linear they bitch about how it should be open world without giving a true reason. It kept the story of FFXIII kept rolling. Got the ps3 reason and Xbox version and even though the xbox version is sub hd it looks great....however i am disappointed with the prerendered cutscenes on xbox, it should have been 4 discs

Why do Ps3 fanboys always mention that the Xbox version is on 3 discs. I mean will it kill us because it's on 3 disc seriously no matter what we are going to to play the game exactly how it is on Ps3. It isn't going to be changed because it's on 3 discs.

It depends. Many people see Final Fantasy XIII as a mediocre RPG. I think one factor is how many FF-games you've played before; in your case none. Most people I've met who've played FFXIII first did like it a lot.

My personal recommendation is to play Final Fantasy VII (7), since it's considered the greatest game in the series, and also, in some cases the greatest game in the world. Both 13 and 7 are easy to find today at a good price. It's your chioce!

@Ivorian I'm playing FF VII right now, and i got to tell that it is an AWESOME GAME, I've been playin' for around 20 hours and I'm in the disc 2. But if you're gonna focus on the graphics, probably you won't wanna play it, but if you pay attention to the history and the gameplay you will enjoy it. And by the way I'm a collector too. :)

@gameteacher101 when you play both, the difference is very big, also the colours are very different (but that's more to do with porting). If you only own the xbox version you won't have the comparision so you get used to it, however it does show the limitations of dvds, the prerendered cutscenes are highly compressed. Also it depends on your tv, any tv bigger than 46 inch makes the differences even more noticeable. Still its a great looking game

@gameteacher101 personally "you" won't. Like any game you get used to looking at the overall picture and sooner or later your brain just accepts the image. I don't mean to be rude, but since you only own an xbox your brain won't remember how the ps3 version looked so the xbox version will look AMAZING. Alan Wake is sub hd also, (sorry i can't visualize 32 inches, i use centimeters) so if you think that looks great then this will as well. Regardless of console FFXIII is a great looking game! :)

@jackson4cool in what way? first disk is about 7 hours average, 20-30 hours second disk, 45-70 hours third disk. All Ps1 ff games were a min of 2 disk for the most part, and only game that seems to be a pain as a multi disk is Mass effect 2 due to it bieng a split open world game >.<

Simple, the Xbox 360 version isn't on Blu-ray, and therefore smaller space on each disc. So they had to split it over 3 discs!

@Ivorian The xbox 360 disc is very limited compared to the PS3's disc. The PS3 version is 1 disc while the xbox is 3 discs. The xbox version is also in lower resolution so if it had the same exact graphics and resolution as the PS3 version, it would be 4 discs.

It will only work on EU consoles unless you mod your Xbox 360, it's a PAL region-lock.

something that i don't get is the availability of collector's editions. it seems that collector's editions are more available in europe and not in the united states. a couple of examples are infamous (ps3), heavy rain (ps3), and this (which is for both 360 and ps3). is it because the publishers are based out of europe?

Well, seems to be a nice box. Great content in the box, lots of extras, just as it should be. Although the game itself is not that great on the 360, as it was meant to be played on the PS3 in the first place. It's still decent, of course.

It only runs in lower resolution because it's a port of the ps3 version but the graphics are better on ps3 but it doesn't bother me much :) actually when I play it in 42 FullHD TV it does look a lot better than normally :P(surprise)

why does everyone bitch about the disk changing on the 360? i mean yea its cool to have it on one disk but its not THAT big a deal. resident evil 4 on gamecube (the best game ever) was on 2 disks and the ps2 version was on one disk but it sucked (graphics wise) im not saying the ps3 version's graphics suck. they ps3 version is better graphics wise all im saying is that changing disks inst a big deal and doesnt break the game unless you are the laziest fat 500 pound fuck in the universe
