I will never understand why Tom and Hennessy Hammock insist on using the snakeskins with the rainfly. I pack the hammock up in the snakeskins because that's what I need to keep dry! It doesn't matter if the rainfly gets wet. Not to mention it is MUCH more convenient to roll that hammock out of the snakeskins and have it ready to go.
@666lbSquid dude the snakeskin is big enough for the hammock and the rainfly to go in it. i think thats what your not understanding. in this vid he has the rain fly and hammock on separate lines
@ADMIND3R I also use mine on the hammock only. I can set up and take down in the rain and only the fly gets wet. I can see maybe in a dry area using them to cover the tarp as well. In those places I might not even use one. The great thing is, no rules. We can use it how we see fit.
@ bloodgorged You have to add them. I use 550 paracord. One thing I do different that shown in the video is I tie my line for the fly a little bit BELOW the tree huggers. This will keep the fly closer to your hammock making it a bit more weather resistant and even warmer.
I don't know about anybody else, but my Explorer Deluxe Rainfly, did not come with a Ridge Cord or Fly Line Cords on the side. Can anybody tell me if this is normal for the Explorer Deluxe Rainfly?
The way i set up my fly. I tied a buntline hitch to one ring, and then ran the line down the middle of the fly, as shown in the video. I looped through the ring on the other side and then tied a tautline hitch to the rope to make the tension easily adjustable under the fly. To attach the fly to the trees just use another line for each ring, go around the and back to the ring. I use either a truckers hitch, or tautline hitch to be able to tighten the fly up nicely. Hope that helps
This is so damn confusing. Please show us how to set the thing up. Not the finished product where you walk us through. I'm hammock retarded so please help!
NKGMAN. . . i know what you mean. . it would be nice if they would say what they are doing. . this is not the normal set up. . i dont think we will get any kind of response here what is going on. .
