I prefer pants.....But i have ridden bare back in a bathing suit with no shoes and have jumped in little short shorts before and honestly, if your allowed to do it and it doesn't hurt yout there is nothing wrong with it, my views are, you get chapped thieghs or fall off and get scratched legs well it was your choice to wear shorts. You are a pretty good rider and that little horse is cute even though he's a little stinker! ^^

1st time riding /jumping doodle not o bad! looked great for the first time! i odnt see y everyone is making a big deal out of this we all fall sometimes but we get back up and get back on, falling off is a big part on learning to ride u learn from ur mistakes!

Totally agree. My barn is FORMAL. Tan pants, farm shirt, tucked in with a belt. My instructor would flip out if she saw this. And if you don't need "bratty" children giving you kind ADVICE on your riding, then learn how to do it properly. Because face it, you're not perfect. Nobody is.

@Chromeo2step I've shown jumpers and eventing. For shows, I dress accordingly, when I'm training, I'll be damned if a barn's going to tell me what to wear while training my horse.
Also- I'm not "training" whenever I'm on my horse, I like to ride to have fun for no other purpose than just to enjoy my teammate and buddy. So, also- if I'm messing around bareback, I'm not going to be all dolled up in "proper English attire'.
So yeah, I hate barns with "formal attire' dress codes.

No, every time you're on your horse it doesn't have to be a learning experience. Again, a difference between you and I. If I'm on a horse, bareback, no bridle, taking jumps- there's no lesson, it's just fun. If we're riding through trails, just enjoying the day, it doesn't have to be a lesson.

@Chromeo2step every time you handle a horse you are training it, which is why to have a real bond you should be able to get on bareback with no helmet knowing your horse won't hurt you. thats how true bonds of trust are formed. and its not trashy. thats a opinion. and showing isn't everything. my horse would HATE if i treated him like it was a show everyday. your showing your ignorance. riding is a sport, but a true bond between a horse and rider involves more than just showing them.

I know this is like three years ago, but that horse is nottt happy. Its swishing its tail all over the place. Either in pain or very annoyed. That first jump looked good, the fall looked painful!
Honestly, I find nothing bad to say about this. She's an amazing rider and everyone has those days. I'm not at all good and I'm certainly not an instructor, but her position looks good in my eyes. It did look like a pretty bad fall, in my opinion. But good job for getting back on!

Then why you would post a video of you falling like this? You got chipped off..you're guaranteed to get nasty comments from a fall like that. When I fell off my 5 year old Thoroughbred gelding I cracked 3 ribs, got a concussion, and a torn ACL. And that was from him taking a jump too long, crashing into it, and face planting into the dirt. And the fact that you're....what...18? You act like you're12. And you're telling a 14 year old you ride better than them is just pure immaturity.

@eventhorizon can't stand barns that require formal wear or that allow students to ride in shorts? English equestrian sports are formal and traditional forms of riding: look the part... I hate when people post videos on youtube begging for people not to critique them or give them advice... Don't post them then. I have videos on here and if people want to give me advice then go for it but I probably a) already know I have this problem or b) won't take it but I sure as hell wont get pissed.

@Chromeo2step I've shown jumpers and eventing. For shows, I dress accordingly, when I'm training, I'll be damned if a barn's going to tell me what to wear while training my horse.
Also- I'm not "training" whenever I'm on my horse, I like to ride to have fun for no other purpose than just to enjoy my teammate and buddy. So, also- if I'm messing around bareback, I'm not going to be all dolled up in "proper English attire'.
So yeah, I hate barns with "formal attire' dress codes.

@eventhorizon wow. you really dug a hole with this comment. EVERY TIME you handle a horse you're training it. I don't care if you're not in breeches and tall boots when you ride. I hack without a helmet all the time but to wear shorts when riding is trashy especially in lessons. It's a sign of respect to look the best for you barn, to care for you horse as if it's going to a show every day, and a sign of respect for the sport.

No, every time you're on your horse it doesn't have to be a learning experience. Again, a difference between you and I. If I'm on a horse, bareback, no bridle, taking jumps- there's no lesson, it's just fun. If we're riding through trails, just enjoying the day, it doesn't have to be a lesson.
But you continue to be judgmental about superficial things.

@Chromeo2step every time you handle a horse you are training it, which is why to have a real bond you should be able to get on bareback with no helmet knowing your horse won't hurt you. thats how true bonds of trust are formed. and its not trashy. thats a opinion. and showing isn't everything. my horse would HATE if i treated him like it was a show everyday. your showing your ignorance. riding is a sport, but a true bond between a horse and rider involves more than just showing them.

I know this is like three years ago, but that horse is nottt happy. Its swishing its tail all over the place. Either in pain or very annoyed. That first jump looked good, the fall looked painful!

Honestly, I find nothing bad to say about this. She's an amazing rider and everyone has those days. I'm not at all good and I'm certainly not an instructor, but her position looks good in my eyes. It did look like a pretty bad fall, in my opinion. But good job for getting back on!
